When I first came to the forum one thing that marveled me was  the different usernames displaying. Then I asked my friend and he told me that, it is to hide identity.

And a thought came to me that even though it is to hide identity and they chose the name, there must be a reason of selecting that username.

So, why do you chose that username?
I chose this name because it was the first name that came to my mind.
and my name also means " first " in the language of my country.
although this is not my real name but this is a very good name. Smiley

I really don't have a specific reason as to why this is what I came up with when I created this account years ago. This is how it goes, I visited the forum and trying to register an account and I am not good at choosing good username for myself which I think really hard to pick one but I wasn't able to choose a good one. In the end, Nakamura is what came to my mind and just add two numbers and viola this is my username until now (Som cases where other forum userd have different name on this forum which is granted by Theymos and yet the username is still the same and only the name that is changed.

Privacy because that is what I advocate for.  G is the mystery.

I chose this name because I wanted something different while also explaining who and what I am.  And, it is futuristic.  Wrote a reply on this thread thinking my explanation sounds cool.  Now I think it is the lamest of all.

Apart from the fact of hiding their identity I think those name actually have a relationship with their account purpose or business purposes beside what really matters is not username but your importance and impact on the forum

That might be true for some users and not all. They're some person here who chose their user randomly without having any meaning behind the username while some that stumbled across the forum and just wanted to register and account just to check it out but later got to stay in the forum most of them have no real explanation as to why they came up with their username.
And same also apply to me if I'm asked now for a valid reason why I chose "cantsay" during my registration I still won't be able to give any. Although I have come to take a likeness to the name.

The real reason I chose this username was because 'Leader of the flat earth Reptilians' was taken.  Those who know though...  Well, they know.

Image shown above is not an actual self-portrait, but an artist depiction of what I may look like.  Some details such as the addition of underwear have been added to make this image safe for the forum and keep from fostering jealousy amongst the less well hung.  I also admittedly have a better manicure as it makes it easier to type on the keyboard.  Anybody got any lotion?

Username choice in Bitcoin Talk forum is not that important, you just choose a name that can be simple but it is better not to analyze too much because it is not necessary, it is not something that you have to give your original name.

Usernames are simply used to distinguish people more clearly. In my case, the reason for the username is bounded to my native language. The name means "Strong Man", the 01 affix to it means "number 1". I believe that only the strong can triumph when it comes to bitcoin, hence the name.

So in my case, I used this my username without any reason but I added the last 1819 which indicates an internal connection between every letter and its word. Though I don't want to share directly the reason Smiley

On most of the social networks, I make use of my real name, so when I got on here, I opted for something different. Like way way different from what I was used to picking and to be frank, a friend just suggested it to me and at the time, I was repulsed by it because of what it actually means. But I later got around to be cool with it, because if there's anything I've learned, it's never to judge a book by its cover and cool things come out of crazy things.

I have a reason why I don't use my real name on my Bitcointalk account because my name is too familiar, seriously it's so familiar that if I use that name it's not available, someone already uses it. finally I had to use the current name Zaki12 because the name was available.

It's so familiar where I live that many people use that name, there is one neighbor whose nickname is the same as my nickname, it just so happens that his house is next to my parents' house, exactly.

Something unpleasant happened, the wrong target (gossip) a lot of unpleasant gossip was shown to me until it sounded in my ears because I felt I had done nothing wrong, especially since I didn't like gossiping with my neighbors, of course the accusations were not true. it wasn't me but my next door neighbor. It's really not wearing once have a familiar name. Cheesy

There is no how you must have used bearded baby avatar in the forum without first registering in the forum.  The story does not relate such to me. Unless you were using a bearded baby avatar in other groups or social platforms and go accustomed to it before signing up here.

If am to register on any platform newly, I find a way to get my username from my surroundings or someone I am with at the moment. I think my username "Marykeller'' came as a result of whom I am with when registering in the forum. Her name was Mary, and her nickname was Keller. At first, when registering, I enter Mary as my username, but I was informed that the name " Mary" is already existing, I had to add Keller to make it unique. That's how I arrived at Marykeller as a username

When I first joined the forum I decided to use this user name because it makes reference to how people have called me in other web pages and corners of the internet (I also like to keep user names short), I wanted to have a similar user name but at the same time I wanted it to sounds a bit sillier. The pronunciation it is supposed to be the Spanish one not the English one, by the way.

Tbh, I don't want my current username because it was generated from random thoughts, is there any particular privilege to change username without waiting long or at least remove some characters? I saw some users managed to change theirs without waiting long, and some just waiting for an uncertain application.
Sorry to hear that you are not happy with your current username, just like you, mine does not have any special meaning to me, and i just generated it based on what i was randomly thinking when i was registering my account, i am not bothered about it in anyway and maybe you shouldn't too. As long as your username isn't doxxing you in anyway i don't think you should be worried too much. If you have not sent a message to theymos for a change of name, then maybe you should try and see if luck is on your side, find a good reason why you want him to change your name, but if he ignores your request, just move on bruh.

Is it worth worrying about? My nickname was generated exactly the same, but I don't see any problem with that. I see that there are people who want to change their and there are even members who were able to convince the administrator to change their nickname several times, but apparently, they had big reasons for this. Being on the forum, we already recognize many by their nicknames, and it's fun to some extent, but we don't know their real names. But if I tell my friends about some forum members and pronounce their nicknames freely, my friends laugh heartily and say that the forum has become a small country with its own life and people's names.
On the other hand, we all want anonymity, and choosing the nicknames that we use on other resources is, in my opinion, very careless.

So, why do you chose that username?

I have been using my username many times by now. It comes from gaming, ever since I started playing Battlefield 1 when it came out, it became my absolute favourite shooter. It's so much better than the last two Battlefield games. By now I have more than 2000 hours in the game, and my most used weapon is still Gewehr 98. It's such a reliable and great rifle in the game that you don't need anything else. As I also like history I read a lot about the rifle, it's a Prussian made rifle 1898  that basically became the standard infantry rifle by many nations back in the day. And the manufacturer was called Mauser, which became my username. Today the company doesn't exist anymore on it's own, they are now part of Rheinmetall and hopefully don't mind I took their name  Cheesy.

Those who know Spanish might think that I chose the nickname for some elitist reason, because 'Don' means 'Mr.' or 'Sir'. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just that when I was little there was a 'Don Pedro' who had quite a positive influence on me, it was a time when formality and speaking to people using the 'don' was more common. So, when I registered on the forum I was thinking of new ways of earning money apart from my normal job. Hence the surname 'Dinero'.

LOL, I have no idea how I will have to choose name for me children Cheesy. When I signed up on Bitcointalk, I didn't wanted to use same username as I use somewhere else. Also, I didn't wanted to make username that would reveal too much personal information and my real name. So, I decided to signup as LTU_btc. LTU is short code of my country. Yeah, country of resisdence is personal information, but I don't consider it as very sensitive and it's not secret where I'm from. And btc, I think that I don't have to explain what it means...

Pretty simple — I chose my username simply because the 3 characters sort of relates to me in some way, but at the same time with it not giving away any details about my personal information. But really, I don't know why people on Bitcointalk sort of over-analyzes usernames; it's really not that important at all.

In general with my usernames outside of Bitcointalk though? I mostly just use random crap lol.
I want to be honest with you when I saw the username you used I actually remembered a Toyota Supra car which was actually being hunted in my country a few years ago lol.
But this is not an insult because indeed this is my opinion, don't be offended by it Grin

Ding ding ding!  As I was wracking my pea brain, trying to come up with a username I decided on either "A Pharmacist" or "The Pharmacist", and it was a close race.  Using "The" sounded egotistical to me, as if there wouldn't be another pharmacist on the forum.
In fact when I hear "The Pharmacist" seems more dominant and powerful than "A Pharmacist", at least this is what I have in mind and it is actually very good.

Good to know you've shaken off the hurt and moved on. Such is life. You win some, you lose some.

And now I want to change it, but Theymos is turning his hairy ear to my pleas for lenience.  Maybe if my name was (The)(cool)Cryptovator he might let me.  I'm not bitter.  I'm really not.
my guess is that Theymos finds the  username really interesting and that is why he would not give in to your request to change it
I think you do have a valid point in there on theymos' nonchalance towards TP's request for a name change. Again, coupled with the fact that a name change will completely take away anything that resembles the old name from it. If we look at the user in quote – (The)(cool)Cryptovator – we would discover that the said user's name change revolved around their old name, capitalization got changed to lowercase or the definite article "the" got dropped. How do we relate with "The Sceptical Chymist" being The Pharmacist 🤔

many people make their account names a pseudonym - just for fun - imaginary figure - or as a reminder of something important.

the name of the account that I currently use is the name of my second child (a girl) (even my daughter's name is a combination of my name and that of my partner).

The username that I chose to use when registering on this forum is a name that comes from a fictional novel called ARKHYTIREMA but there are also those who think that the novel is a true historical story. The name BRINIRHA has a long history of the name of an important figure from the LEMURIAN Nation (the ancestor of the Sundanese tribe in Indonesia).

I use the name BRINIRHA because I like this fictional character.
because BRINIRHA is a kind mother who has given birth to a very strong and kind child named ARKHYTIREMA.

the word BRINIRHA is also derived from the ZHUNNDA language. And ZHUNNDA is language of the LEMURIAN NATION (IZLAN LEMURIA); The ORKADAR Cluster (PLANET LEMURIA). (that's what it says in the novel)

I took this name because I wanted to be a kind and loving person and also strong like a fictional character named BRINIRHA.

Keeping that stage name became impossible for me since if i ever manage to become popular with my music, people will think i got the idea of the name from the music company and the music company might even sue me for maybe copyright infringement.
A simple registration with CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) would've secured the name for you and even placed you in a better position of bargain that would've fetched you millions if you decided to give up your username for that new company. Anyway, I hope you learnt your lesson on how to secure patent for any stuff you need to keep, going forward.
You are the first person telling me this, and indeed, i learnt in a hard way, The truth of the matter is that I was totally ignorant, back then at the time, i knew nothing about CAC (cooperate affairs commission), the only CAC i knew then was a white garment church there in my area.
And when Fivestar music label came out, I actually didn't feel bad, because i lacked knowledge of what I have lost, it was until 2015 when a friend opened my eyes to the existence of CAC and how I should have registered the name if i cherished it as much, and maybe sell it if any big business showed interest in the name and is ready to pay in millions, he said i would have sold the name to the current Fivestar Music if there weren't willing to change to something else... The was when i started feeling bad about the whole thing, but I've gotten over it now and lesson is learnt - Indeed, people perish because they lack knowledge.

Yeah, dont be bitter, The Pharmacist sounds and feels really cool, i personally love it, and my guess is that Theymos finds the  username really interesting and that is why he would not give in to your request to change it, i mean if i was him(Theymos), i likely may also not allow you to change it Wink Wink

That's an ouch moment there! How the tables turned and the story of how the hunter became the hunted. It's really sad when things we ought to have done right turn to hurt us in future. You do really want to change it? I think The Pharmacist sounds better than Chymist, frankly.
Yes.  You're probably just too used to seeing my username to picture it being any different, and I'd probably think the same thing if the roles were reversed.  I never think of pharmacist and chemist as being synonymous, because in the US they're not.  The Sceptical Chymist was a great piece of old science from Robert Boyle, published in 1661, and chymist in that sense doesn't refer to someone who works in a pharmacy.  I guess that's how they spelled chemist back then, and it's funny to think of a present-day college student saying "Goddamn it, I flunked organic chymistry!!" (a not uncommon utterance for many who take it).

not all of them use fake names, there are also those who use real names, but the character of the word and the writing is slightly different.

And the reason why so many people use pseudonyms? maybe because of the security of their privacy in the real world,
because not a few people are afraid to give their original data,
and that is a legitimate freedom in my opinion.

I have seen a similar post in reputation where it was advised not to judge a user by their choices of username. I seriously disagreed on that opinion, I was of the opinion that usernames are not chosen randomly, there must be a reason for choosing a particular username, unless for bounty hunter account farmers.
Though LoyceV gave me reasons to agree that usernames might have no connection to the user's mindset to the forum.

People chose usernames for themselves depending on their mindset to the forum or their particular mood when signing up in the forum.
Don't underestimate the power of desperation, when all the good names are taken already.

Why I brought this matter is that there was a good poster who recently got alot of red tags by name AnotherAlt. It appears that this user had more than two accounts, so when he was creating the 3rd or the 4th, he possibly ran out of ideas and decided to use "AnotherAlt ", which in a real life was certainly another alt Grin

Yeah, every username i've come up in any website is about my likings in any anime series or movies nothing personal related. This one is related to one piece movie, every one piece fan should know about it, so i dont need to explain or give details about it

When I first came to the forum one thing that marveled me was  the different usernames displaying. Then I asked my friend and he told me that, it is to hide identity.

And a thought came to me that even though it is to hide identity and they chose the name, there must be a reason of selecting that username.

So, why do you chose that username?
LoL, its a funny question i must say, but maybe interesting some how...
My username "Fivestar" was a name i choosed during my music career days, yeah, i was into music back then and that was when i chosed "Fivestar" as my stage name knowing that five stars is the highest rating a service or person can get when the service or person performs as well as expected, i thought myself good enough for that rating and that was how the name "Fivestar" stock .

Unfortunately, after over three years without making any headways in my music, a new music company( a recording label ) was launched with the name FiveStar Music, the company owners were billionaires and Fivestar music didnt take time to become very popular due to heavy promotion and the company signing already popular musicians into the label.

Keeping that stage name became impossible for me since if i ever manage to become popular with my music, people will think i got the idea of the name from the music company and the music company might even sue me for maybe copyright infringement.
I later gave up doing music but still wanted to keep my stage name since it one i personally love, but now, i wanted it to look a bit different from the actual already popular music company, that was how i decided to add the "4ever" which turned it to "Fivestar4ever", i later wanted to add something that will resemble a surname, i searched for something that would have good meaning but very short since "Fivestar4ever" was already long enough, that was when the idea of "MVP" ( which simply means Most Valuable Personnel) came in and i decided to stick it in..

This was how "Fivestar4everMVP" came about, the username was not born out of trying to hide my identity, ive had this name way long before i joined this forum, i used this same username on almost all my social account like
Facebook
Twitter
Telegram
Instagram
etc.

Actually, my name served as the inspiration for my username decision. It's merely a shortened version of my full name, which I've gone by since high school. There is nothing more to the suffix tied to it; it is simply a number that I frequently use in the majority of my accounts.

Anyway, blah blah blah.  I picked my name because....just take a guess.
Make it two guesses and I will have a gander –
                 1. You chose it after your profession.
                 2. You picked it, unrelated to what
you're but, as one who could make
                      prescriptions for the malady that
was in the forum of shitposts and
                      scams when you joined.

I've always associated numbers on usernames to believe those numbers mean something special to the users. Sometimes I believe it could be the user's date of birth, wedding date, date they got something uplifting, etc.
I remember the early days of using e-mail and having usernames on crap like AOL chat rooms (which I was a fan of back in the day nevertheless).  My thought is that if you're joining a site like this one where your screen name is basically your face, you really ought to put some thought into creating one that's memorable and perhaps clever.

That's if you care about the forum or any other website or service where you need a username.  When I see really, really generic usernames that look like every other one here, I immediately get the impression that that member doesn't really want to be here to contribute and interact with others on a personal level.  Look at some of the more famous members, the ones with big personalities who've perhaps made friends here or have had feuds or whatever: a lot of them have pretty un-generic handles.  Vod, OgNasty, TECSHARE, Phinneas Gage, TMAN, Lauda all fit that category.

Anyway, blah blah blah.  I picked my name because....just take a guess.

And now I want to change it, but Theymos is turning his hairy ear to my pleas for lenience.  Maybe if my name was (The)(cool)Cryptovator he might let me.  I'm not bitter.  I'm really not.

Thus, I came up with Ultegra134. The numbers don't represent anything but were mostly used when my desired username was taken.
I've always associated numbers on usernames to believe those numbers mean something special to the users. Sometimes I believe it could be the user's date of birth, wedding date, date they got something uplifting, etc. Yours is an exception from what I've seen as you said the numbers on your moniker were randomly chosen and didn't represent anything to you. Look at what I meant below 👇

The second part of my username, 91, refers to the year 1991, which has a special meaning in my life, and no, it is not the year of my birth, as many think.
It was a year that was a big turning point in my life.

Interesting question.
I chose the first part of my username, Daniel, because it is similar to my real name and because of the true, original meaning of that name, which means "God is my judge" in Hebrew.
The second part of my username, 91, refers to the year 1991, which has a special meaning in my life, and no, it is not the year of my birth, as many think.
It was a year that was a big turning point in my life.
For now, that's all about the meaning of my username and why I chose it  Grin

I don't think i have a reason for choosing my username. After i got introduced to the forum i had to type in a username i will always remember. So many registered members here, when registering might want to use their real name or nickname as their user's name but you will found out that if your name is an English or common name,it will have been chosen by the member who registered before you.

In such case, you will be confused first, you have to think of another name or your native name or a name which you have come across and you love the name to be your username. Everybody have a reason for this.

As for me when I was registering, I chose Frank, which is my name because its a popular name,I was told it has been chosen by another user. I thought for awhile and decided to use a name I know can't be used by anyone which is Frankola, after writing it down something told me what if this name has already been used by another user,I decided to add LA to make it double which is my username Frankolala.

I got the name in school instead of Franko which is normal a close friend that I met new do call me Frankola.

I don't have the fancy reasons others have, such as to preserve anonymity or because I was a cryptocurrency trader. I used to be a competitive cyclist when I was a teenager and had recently purchased a Shimano Ultegra groupset for my bicycle. Thus, I came up with Ultegra134. The numbers don't represent anything but were mostly used when my desired username was taken. This is the only forum I've used so far and will probably stay that way. I guess it represents the start of my cryptocurrency era and the start of competitive cycling.

A little boring since it doesn't have much to do with cryptocurrencies, isn't it?

Username in other forums and other social media's is still the username we have here. With or without privacy in mind, everyone must have a unique username. Two people must not have the same username but two people can have the same name. I didn't bother myself so much by choosing my username because it is just a dialect name divided into two, one part the starting part is dialect while the other is a universal name. The number at the end means when I began to appreciate the knowledge of bitcoin.

Using moniker (username) isn't excluded to this forum alone. It's the norm when it comes to social media. People want to keep their privacy offline and enjoy the highest level of freedom of expression that ordinarily eludes them in real life.

For me, I had to make my username special at the time I was picking it. My moniker isn't just a  name out of the blues. It was specifically picked to reflect something close in my life at the time I did.

Hahaha, do you really want to know? But I guess I should keep that privacy a little bit, mate.
Let you know, skarais is meaningless in the dictionary, but there are many stories about that choice of name that I don't want to talk about right now.
This username was a spontaneous choice, but behind it all there is a story I don't want to remember. Just forget it.

By the way, I'd also like to have a real name for my username, but since my chances of changing it are bit, so skarais will remain.

So, why do you chose that username?
Not all our usernames are to conceal identity, some users on forum are answering their real names, not their complete names, but their real names. My username is an extract from my business name. It is a name that has stuck over the years from being called by most of my customers who I have delivered satisfactory service to. When I joined this forum, I couldn't think of any other username to use.

did you not try again for now? What I know about name changes that can be immediately accepted are forum donors, staff, VIP members and some members who do have trust and important contributions to the forum.

and regarding the selection of usernames on this forum I did use my real name, because at that time the name "taufik" was already available and had to add a few characters so I spontaneously used the number 123.
The names of senior forum members are also unique, they may have certain reasons for using that name, and like you who spontaneously created a username until now, it has become your unique identity.
By the way, what is the meaning of the word "skarais"? I never found that word in my dictionary

Look at the names of the top members, they have a unique name and it becomes a permanent identity that everyone knows.

I choose my username based on a film I watched about an 18years old smart boy and very hard working. He was able to take care of himself by working part-time and making sure he finished his college education despite he has no parents.

Ryu_Ar1 has a special meaning for me because in this username there is my love for my child.
The word Ryu itself is taken from my child's middle name, as for Ar is the initials of the first name and last name while the number 1 represents the 1st child in this case.

There is nothing surprising and intricate in the choice of my  general, the nickname itself is not so important (although some are still more noticeable), how important is the person who stands behind it and what contribution he makes for the benefit of the community.

This is indeed a deep taught, how important is the person behind the nickname is what matters most, a username is just for physical identification but what makes unification is the real identity of the personality behind the name and that tells much better of the person than the username itself, how effective we are in contributing to the forum, how committed we are, these give the real interpretation of whom and what we stand to represent, the content of what we carry is more weightier than the username we carry.

For no apparent reason to me, this is something spontaneous when in my memory it's just about someone I might still be dating. Many people have reasonable reasons why they chose a certain name for their account username, but I don't and even regret that I haven't had the chance to change this username.

I didn't think to hide my identity and used my real name as a username on bitcointalk. Though for me it does not matter much if my real name is revealed on the forum but later I thought it would have been better to choose a username that was not related to my real name. I tried to search on how to change our usernames but later I found out that it is almost impossible to get the username changed. Anyways now I am OK with my username as my real name.  Smiley

Usually here for sure came from their nickname "ekename" which means an additional name.
There's a sole purpose behind choosing your username and the main factor could be a security reason to cover anonymity, we need to pick a different username either our nickname any words, numbers, or symbol that comes up in our mind, or a combination of our real names.

But before picking a username, it might be good if you'll research it first.  Back then I saw a newbie that has been red-tagged because of accusing impersonating a well-known member here, like for example our admin theymos.

The reason why I choose this?
It's because it's my nickname and I know it's genuine and it's impossible to impersonate other people.

So, why do you chose that username?

Hmmp to tell you honestly this username I choose is that little bit funny or sounds crazy, I choose this username it because in my school before there's one girl I like the most and my schoolmates and friends called her Shamm not her real name.  Them A while ago when A friend of mine introduced me to this forum then I decided to create a username like the nickname of my idol.
Quite often I see your post in several previous threads, when looking at your username it reminds me of my late grandfather because my late grandfather's first name is the same as your forum name "SHAMSUDDIN". Sham has a very good meaning "Candle", it is very appropriate to attach the name Sham to your school friend's girl.

Sham symbolizes charm and charisma, he is someone who has charm and wants to be the center of attention, the name Sham has a personality of Expansive, visionary, adventurous, and constructively uses freedom. Your decision to make a username like your idol's nickname is very right because your forum name has a very good meaning.

It's nice to read this and I am very happy to know your late grandfather's first name which is the same name as wy Idol. Shamsuddin is a nice name and meaningful and as you said above that sham represents charm or it will make us lucky. And another reason why I choose this username is to be unique and meaningful. And also I know that every one of us here in the forum has a dept reason why they chose thier username.

Now I would carefully consider and most likely choose a different nickname, but since it so happened that I got this nickname, then let it stay that way. Most of the time when I'm picking a username in any game that I play, I always look around and see a brand of anything that I see. There was a time where I picked a brand of Pig Food (which is very funny), there was a time where I picked a brand name of a deodorant. In the game that I'm playing right now, I used a brand name of a computer monitor. Lesser stress and easier to do because TBH, when you are always playing different kinds of games, the hardest thing aside from killing those hard bosses is to choose a username Cheesy.

With regards to my name right now, I used that brand of mouse since I started using computers and laptops 13 years ago and until now that is what I'm using.

Usernames are not that complicated in this bitcoin forum. Because someone has given a user name of their choice in small letters. For example I use few characters in my username so that my identity will remain anonymous. but I find the biggest thing to notice is who or what is using the account in a similar way. Because some have created accounts with real names and some have used fictitious names. This is a complicated matter I think it will work even if you don't think about it.

In my case because obviously I play poker, online, for more than 10 years and although I am not Daniel Negreanu obviously when I had to choose the nickname I thought of "Poker Player". What surprised me is that this nickname was not already taken. Then when I saw how big is the gambling section in this forum I was even more surprised, although I think most of them play casino games and believe they can win long term with garbage strategies rather than playing games where the expected value of the bets can be positive (or have an RTP greater than 100% if preferred).

In fact, many users here choose random names, myself included, however users choose and give their names randomly on the internet, but the name can influence as evidenced by some of the account names on this forum, the way other members perceive these users.

Of course, a common name that gives the impression of that name is important compared to making a name that is unusual and lacks appreciation from other users.

The name is symbolic, although random you must have a certain meaning, which is clearly a big name influence in your life online.

My username was picked because:
1. I pre-ordered a miner from the now defunct AMT in early 2014. After repeated delays I started looking into here in the Forum about it and definitely did Not get a Fuzzy Warm feeling about them.
2. I'm often described as "nean' -- nice but mean. Nice in that given an intelligent question, I answer as best as I can. Queries that are pointless/ones repeated endlessly in other threads, pure troll-bait, based on pure and wilful ignorance, etc. -- I let folks know exactly how off-target they are. I do not tolerate idjits.

In short I'm NotFuzzyWarm and proud of it  Cheesy

If i may ask you as well that why did you choose that your username? choosing a username is a choice to make and no one can hold you a question to that as long as you don't plagiarize other people's username to impersonate them, you're free to be identified by any means you choose to be called on the forum as your username, but this does not necessarily means that your username is your real identity and if it is doesn't mean you're not private that's a choice made by you, during your registration is when the first privacy about you had been kept and maintain by nit verifying your email address used, username does not makes you private or not.

OP, my little advice is to try using the search. You come to the forum in May, and you suddenly become too active and create topics that are chewed up every three months.
Now, in order not to create another mega-thread, you can read this topic. Maybe it will satisfy your curiosity.

There was also a point when usernames fascinated me in a way. They got me curious.

But while privacy is closely associated with Bitcoin and Satoshi Nakamoto's identity is successfully kept hidden until now, a number of early Bitcoin adopters, developers even, and strong Bitcoin evangelists didn't really conceal their identities here.

Hal Finney got Hal and even had his own picture used as avatar. Gavin Andresen had Gavin Andresen and his face as avatar as well. Andreas Antonopoulos had aantonop and did the same with his avatar. The same goes with Dr. Adam back with his adam3us and his picture. There were probably more of them.

And then there was gmaxwell and achow101 and laszlo and more. And even admins Sirius and theymos are not really unknown outside of this forum.

Anyway, as for my username, it has something to do with the anime Darker than Black. It should've been just Darker but since it was already taken, I thought of a number combination. I ended up with 45. This, too, has an explanation, quite a long one, so...

Displaying different usernames can also make it easier for you to remember other usernames, your mind will be on one name that you remember and make it easy to find it.
Most forum users have reasons for choosing a username, such as the forum name I use has the meaning "Wise".
Picking a random name has also been used by some users that don't have any meaning, behind all that is not too important to me. Positive values applied in the forum and providing knowledge to other users will make you better known even though the forum name only uses the same three characters "AAA or BBB".

Amazing, I'm laughing right here
I actually choose my username because of the person, Who introduced me to the platform, it's name is Lord OC. My desire has always be to learn as much as I can about Bitcoin, I also want to impact some newbies in my local community about this digital asset too, I couldn't think of any other name, Except the excellent Lord the one who introduced me, And my name Silva. Along with my purpose on the platform ( Bitcoin - BTC )

Funny you ... 😌
Even without the fact that different display names are used to maintain pseudonymity, just as you described, could everyone possibly use the same name?? So you won't get marveled any longer?? Shessss!
Some peeps get confused when choosing a display name and sometimes, gets cut up by whatever bugs 'em at that point; there by, making outta 'em, a name.

Well, there are very many reasons or, sometimes -- no reasons attached to the selection of a display name; in my case, my real name has 3 letters that are included in the first name, SANDRA. Hakeem came after some sort of random selection. It's unique and serves as a prolific mask to the hush- phenomenal user behind the account.
