I have some really bad memories of my childhood. I do not want to go into so much details but it does involve my parents not being good parents for me.

Not going to be able to get rid of these bad memories. I have tried to talk about them with Professionals but they still appear in my mind. It is easier for us to deal with good memories and not the bad memories.

The reason why you have memory is not  just to remember the past, describe your objective world and wallow in misery as it may be.
This is what you think it is but not for all of us,better to  live with what we have in the past years.

Quote
the reason why you have memories is so that if similar something bad or good that happened in the past wants to show up in the present, you could figure how best to handle it with alacrity as much as possible.
still that says a memories , you have just expanded the explanation but the reality is still the memory.

Quote
For the bad memories, you make sure they doesn't happen again.
For good memories, you make sure that you replicate it.

yet? we still remember right? still that is memory that gives you that.

Yeah, those are good reasons to use memories for some incidents that might occur in the present or in the future.

And as with those memories of the past, it's nice to cherish them because those were moments that will never coming back. As we grow older, we want those memories to be treasured by us.

We become more sentimental and that's what I've became lately.

Brain itself an advanced mechanism that does multiple tasks simultaneously and one of its process is to store the memories which only happens if you want it to keep it. Obviously it can fade away if you doesn't affect your future because what happened in the past is absolutely useless from the future's perspective.

Similarly, the way I feel about it is that the lessons we experience, even if there are situations that we avoid, when we look back, they are still experiences.

IMO, "past - present - future" are all on an endless interconnected thread, there are things that have passed that unintentionally in the present or future still repeat themselves for us to continue to experience for the rest of our lives until you're no longer stuck with it.

Endless memories are more accurate, anyone here who has had experiences with past lives will probably see many problems that we may be skeptical of but actually it is also an experience that helps us realize Realizing many problems in life, not everyone can be in tune with life's perspective.

Imagine living in a world where you forget everything you do and everyone you meet.

I really think that memories is what shapes us to who we are. These memories make up our personality, how we respond to specific situations, our dreams, our emotions and many more. I am a mosaic of everything I have experienced here in life

I think there is a different approach of our memories like me? that I mostly registered in my mind those happy and good things and tend to forget the negative one .
I know that we cannot completely forget them but at least how we deal on those things are the important part .

For the bad memories, you make sure they doesn't happen again.
For good memories, you make sure that you replicate it.

yeah this is how I uses those , to remember and never let to happen again.

dont make it hard for us mate , Memories is where we are storing data's about what we are experiencing and seeing , there is no much to make it complicated to understand lol.

and also what is important to our memories is to remember good things to never change , and remember bad things to never do it again.

I think we store past experiences to be able to deal with future ones efficiently (talking less philosophically and more biologically, to survive). By the way, I love the description "and wallow in misery as it may be". Sometimes it feels like lots of my memories seem to exist for this purpose alone.

We have memories in other to have conscience in whatever thing we do, also in other for us to remember where we belong and what we have or possess, value them and maintain them, we also have this memory in us as something unquestionable by nature, we received it as a free gift and we are not the ones that demands for such, its part of what human being are made of, we should only be mindful of how we use the very vital aspect of our brain to have good memories that can be always ever green.

Well said but note that it can't all be green. Because both will surely come no matter who or what.. They will come to play their role handing others not to repeat or making others to duplicate it becomes a game of choice as other things in life... Whether good or bad memories one can handle them to advance or let them swallow us.
