MOBU - FUTURE OF SECURITY TOKENS
August 26, 2018, 08:28:51 AM

These are the scams I've witnessed myself in the last six months and how much the scammers got away with. I know there are a lot more but these are the ones I saw first hand.

EthDark: a scammy shitcoin - At least 2 million usd
Litecoin gold- scam erc20 token- Around 200k usd
Ethereum cash- scam erc20 token - anywhere from 100k-1m hard to tell
Ethereum lite- scam erc20 token - at least 70k usd made in one weekend
Denaro ICO- straight up scam, devs left with at least 10million
Stone- Fake private dag crypto coin- Scammer got at least 300k usd
Confido- another scam ico, scammers made away with 500k usd.
Bitcoinred- another erc20 scam token.- AT least 1 million +
Mooncoin- 62 billion coins that were stolen from cryptsy were not locked, and dumped over 1 mill usd.
Wifi global- another scam ICO- at least 500k usd.

More than 80% of all the conducted ICOs are already scams or just the projects that will go to scam in the nearest six-twelve month when their roadmaps will come to the end of implementation)) That's a normal situation unless regulation will be set. We'll see a lot of progress in this sphere this Autumn I guess.

There are scams in the encryption market, and investment is risky. Before investing, we must carefully read their white papers, view their roadmaps, understand their vision, work teams, etc., avoid scams, and this is very good for your investment. helpful

In one project I have seen the characters of some game instead of the team’s photos. It is very sad. It is a pity but I don’t remember the name of this project.

From the names of the coins you will know that they are scams already. Some are more sopisticated which is where it requires you to research even more into the coin before you can be able to tell if the coins are scams. The scams I see mostly are those on twitter where they say that a particular coin is doing a giveaway and you have to send ETH to a certain wallet and they will double it for you.

Okay guys, and what could you tell me about pure scam coins like Jesus coin or FUCK token.

They have capitalization more than 1 million dollars, they are listed on exchanges, but it really ridiculous because they don't solve any problem. Any thoughts?

FUCK is not a scam.

I don't know how you could take something like Jesus coin or Fuck token seriously from the names alone. If you're not a scam, then don't pick a scammy name for your coin.

Within the browser websites irrespective of whether you talking about crypto related projects or not, people need to understand that there are scammers everywhere. Its just a matter of reading into the profile of those guys to see if they're real or not. Always be skeptic!

There are many scammers in crypto field are trying to get into our accounts. They are messaging us as group admins. First we need to identify who are the real admins of a group. If anyone messaged you with the same name of an admin of a group, make sure that the username is different. Same telegram username cannot be there for two persons. So you can "mark as a scammer". God luck!

That's nothing......just an example, scams that have got away with other people's money are uncountable, I have seen many more than that and then if you look into lending coins......you will just be shocked

Why don't you name it? I think it will be helpful for others too.

Beware scamming is everywhere you must carefully
Don't put your private information in the site not use https and that means "s" is protect the site

Even though I'm not a native English speaker, I can tell that your English is not really good. I suggest you fix it before you are considered as a shit-poster.

And btw, there is not really a correlation between the security of the site you visit and whether or not a project is a scam, considering what the OP posted. Unless of course, you're trying to tell about the scammers that tried to use other project names to get free money.

There are many dead coins.  Roll Eyes

http://deadcoins.com/
Dead coins are not that big a deal.
Coins die, projects fail.
It's the scams that are the issue.

Just reading some of the crap that is in the announcements for altcoins / tokens is painful.
And people believe it. And put money into it.

And then loose it.

-Dave

I think it's not a problem. Many projects are scams, but many projects are real.

Yeah this is insane. I gave up lurking Announcements (Altcoins) page last summer when things started getting out of control (at least for me). Also I see that more & more solid projects don't even post ANN threads here anymore, which is sad.

So, according to the time / date in the upper right of the Announcements (Altcoins) page it's 9:48:02

On the 1st page the top of hte page post has a last post time of  9:48:00
The oldest on the bottom is 09:43:31
So posts are scrolling off the page in less then 5 minutes. Even if you have the best project out there. Getting past all the "noise" is going to be almost impossible.

pretty much all you have to do is pull up the "Announcements (Altcoins)" page and theres your list of scamcoins.

All of them? If there is a legit thing where do you announce than?

i was exaggerating a bit. some are ok, and the only way to find them is lots of research.

but on the whole most are junk: they pump, dump, exit and let them die. then on to the next one to repeat the process.

If you think back 20+ years it was the same during the .com boom.
Yep, I remember this very well and I just recently wrote kind of a similar post, likening the dot com bubble to what we're seeing in this ICO market.  People are going irrationally nutty over these things, and they're going to end up utterly worthless--just like those dot com stocks.  I also recall being involved in a biotech stock boom that was happening right around the same time.

A lot of people on bitcointalk are probably young and haven't lived through a crazy bull market, where investors are completely losing their minds.  We probably have a lot of people in their 20s who were kids when the NASDAQ crashed in 2000, and they're the ones who are thinking it's different this time.  And I sit back and LOL, because it's not different.  The asset in question has changed, but the mentality is exactly the same.  This is why I've stayed far away from these projects.

So yeah, when a new ICO comes out I assume it's just more of the same scammy BS.  Everyone is trying to get rich, the devs, the people buying these tokens, the investors, and they're all on the lunatic fringe of blockchain madness.

Okay guys, and what could you tell me about pure scam coins like Jesus coin or FUCK token.

They have capitalization more than 1 million dollars, they are listed on exchanges, but it really ridiculous because they don't solve any problem. Any thoughts?
Destined to go to zero, but there's a time function for doing so.  The market can stay irrational for quite a while.  That's the crazy thing about bubbles.

This is by no means an all-inclusive list either.  I'm really not a fan of these fork-coins that really change nothing but seemingly "create value from nothing" by forking the blockchain.  Oh, and don't forget the premine.  The only value they created is for themselves through immediate dumping.

It will be nice when we get past these obvious scams because legitimately done, ICO/ITOs can be great ways to launch or grow a business.  Altcoins also have their place, but as long as the scam:legit ratio remains so high, the bar is quite high in terms of the sophistication needed to avoid fraud.  (Though I have to be honest, some of these scams that people have gotten away with were pretty blatant.)

Best regards,
Ben

Sometimes I wonder the level of how people are so dumb in parting away with their money and because situations like this that scammers can get away with it, gives other the motivation to pull the same stunt because there is a chance they will make more money. With all of the noise about ICOs and now joining the league Forks, a whole lot still fall for the nice graphics design, the polished team with fake LinkedIn profile already set up, flashing website and some exchange sites whose primary concern is the fee they will get.

If all of this can happen in six months, I give up hope on whether the crypto world would ever gets better and investments would be more secure but its actually not their fault, its the people whose greediness and quest for riches have been blinded their level of reasoning that they forgo the basic intelligence gathering they would have done.

If you think back 20+ years it was the same during the .com boom.

As near as I can tell, according to this show:

Yes, all of them are bad.  Grin

Seriously, it is getting kind of out of hand in there. You just look at what is being posted in the token announcements and shake your head.
I miss the good old days when you had such things as beercoin:

You knew it was silly and probably worthless but you didn't care if you threw some hashes to it, just to see what happens.

Well, it's almost all the same nowadays , except you need to throw several dollars. And "coin" suffix replaced with "ico". BeerICO, good idea btw, I should post an announcement...
