It's all a matter of opinion, but yes, in this case they should get replaced imho. Human staff should watch over it and refil the shelves and such..

You replace the cashiers you might as well replace the shelf stocker because you no longer will be offering social interaction with the customers. Its a slippery slope and I think most people understand that you need to defend the human aspect or lose it all together.
Having worked in customer service side of things as a kid,I realize the importance of having people available in a store.
You leave it to the shelf stockers to help and they will never finish stocking the shelves.

She's sitting down! lol!! I have never seen that before. The cashiers in Canada stand all day. I guess this was taken in some European country? Italy maybe? I heard that they were laid back there but this is ridiculous.

Eventually those self check out machines would take away jobs from workers. I also think that all merchandise should be secured behind glass display cases in order to completely eliminate shoplifting. Either that, or we should eliminate stores altogether and just shop online.

The problem with automating every job is there will be no work for people. So that equates to no one buying product and the system collapes.
It drives me nuts going into a store with those self check out machines, will go to the human every time. Its solves little eliminating cashiers from stores.
Slow clerks are usually at crappy stores, meaning you are being to cheap to go to a store that pays their clerks enough.

Nowadays everything (jobs included) is going to be replaced by technology. Before there were people who made calculations and so on, today every phone can do that.
There is more and more people, we need to make some opportunities for them to work. She is slow, but it is probably Italy, they do not give a shit about that, if you say something they will argue and gesturing something with hand Cheesy

yes she is italian lady ( because talk in italian language).

And yes a lot of works are going to be replaced by technology.... bad news for all workers... "great" news for producers Cheesy

But even who will buy such products Cheesy ?
ROBOTS?

Who will have the money to spend if Robots are working instead of us? Smiley I cant really see this. Or maybe everybody will become producers Tongue

Although it does sound more convenient, I think this deal would have a hard time passing through, only because a cashier is a job with little skill required, yet is a very common job. So there would be a lot of people laid off of work to be replaced by machines, a process which is already happening.

I think she is the slowest cashier I came across so far https://youtu.be/pa0GJD4CMlE
Do you think that cashiers must be replaced with machines? I really think so. There are some supermarkets who replaced human labor with machines!
