Many people were just not counted in the statistics since they have given up finding jobs long ago

You could have 0% jobless rate if everyone is asking for social security without looking for a job actively. A good indicator is to see how many people are still receiving various benefits like food stamps etc...

Many people have also entered the population of people that should be in the working population, more so then jobs have been created

2008... the great recession....  :S..  The 30's would be dumbfounded at us calling that a recession.. The media has really hyped up a lot of crap lately.

A recession is just 2 or more consecutive quarters of negative growth.  If they were calling it a 2nd Great Depression, I'd agree with you.

So you think it was a great recession or a recession?.. I think it was a recession...

Oh, yeah, I agree...  If you look at the list of all US recessions on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_recessions_in_the_United_States , you can see that the recession of 1973-75 was at least as bad as this one.

Furthermore I find this jobs number just hilarious.. 7% out of work.. with 55% of people working..  The numbers.. they do not add up.  I know how they like to make them magically add up but that's a bunch of BS.  I'm sorry just because you've been out of a job for more than 6 months they throw you out of the statistic.. I just... things are going to blow up.. badly... in a matter of seconds one day.. seconds.

What Obama and company will not do is have this question asked:

"Of those that have lost their jobs and got ones back- how many have a job situation equal or better then what they originally lost."

Ding ding ding! People that once had solid middle class jobs with full benefits are now working shitty independent contractor jobs. It's not really the same thing.

Market competition isn't pleasant. The rest of the world finally caught up with US in term of technology know-how as well as having good infrastructure and quality worker. And they can produce at cheaper cost.

Companies that used to support middle class can now do it cheaper abroad. The trend of outsourcing will continue unless US find something unique they can produce that the rest of the world demand.

The unemployment rate means absolutely nothing, the soviet union always had a 100% employment rate.
the government could print another trillion USD and pay every American money to dig holes and fill them back up and achieve 100% employment.

The US economy added 217,000 jobs in May. The unemployment rate held steady at 6.3%, a five-and-a-half year low.

With last month’s job growth, the US has finally recovered all of the jobs it lost during the Great Recession. (That’s without adjusting for population growth; economists estimate there are about 7 million more working-age Americans today than there were at the previous employment peak in January 2008.)

DAT MY PRESIDENT!!

Just out of curiosity, what are the specific actions on the part of President Obama that you believe have positively impacted job growth?

It is believed by some that job creation and economic growth can occur even without the direct intervention of a politician - and, perhaps in this case, in spite of it.

The revolution will be monetized!
It's not really an Obama thing. Because the economic factors are way bigger than the presidency  I don't give him blame or cred. And I don't think we have recovered from anything. In fact where did we get this silly idea that economies must "recover".

The jobs that came back are low wage, dead end jobs. Now if we mean the economy as thought of by the wealthy then yes, not only have we recovered, these are the best economic times in all of American history. Never has a billionaire had such a good chance of becoming a multi-billionaire. And the profits of large companies are higher than ever in history.

For the extremely wealthy, the economy is beyond good, it's almost perfect. There are a few more unions to kill and voices to crush. But soon the slavery act of 2019 will free us all from the tyranny of having to make our own choices about money.

Labor participation rate would be a more useful indicator on the employment situation in the US.

Great, now what about the last 6 years off population growth?
Population growth is practically nonexistent. It comes strictly from immigration. Without immigration, our population would be dropping.
To sustain a population, you need a fertility rate of 2.05. We're at 1.9 last I checked.
What was the population of the US in 2008?What is it now?Are you capable of answering such simple questions?

You honestly believe any shit coming out of the government grist mill, don't you? You probably also also believe their inflation index as correct, even after food and fuel costs were removed from the equation.
Must be nice to be a mushroom, living in a temperature controlled cave and being fed a constant diet of sterilized horseshit.
Dat your president and his regime! Carry on, fandango ranger!

That figure http://www.dailykos.com/217695/the-...reat-recession/ covers underemployment, which is what you're talking about.
That chart is hardly a good representation of people who are underemployed. It only points out people who are working part time because they cannot obtain a full time job when the definition of underemployment not only encompasses that, but anyone in any job that is not being paid a wage/working a job that utilizes their full scope of skills and talents.

A computer engineer of 15 years working full time as a grunt for the TSA still has a full time job with benefits but is horribly underemployed. Underemployment isnt strictly about hours.

How many of those jobs are EQUAL (pay, benefits, etc) to what was lost. You will find the liberals very quiet on that area.
2.9% of the labor force. It's in the second graph in here http://www.dailykos.com/217695/the-...reat-recession/
