Ok, I want a 10 TH/s SHA-256 miner, and a 10 MH/s scrypt miner. Or something along those lines.

+1, But I only want to spend 100$ ...

Honestly im very much looking forward to seeing where this scrypt asic/fpga miner is going Smiley

Sounds cool!
I'm very interested.
Curious to see what the final products will look like... Simple USB miners, devices which hook up to USB (like BFL) or stand alone machines?

Anyway I'm keeping a close eye on this thread.

I am also very interested. As other said, usb's arent viable anymore.

As private investors, we need more power to make a profit - since there is a lot of companies investing hard in bitcoins now.

Be really good if the potential EE looks at the specs and gives a thought to whether this is all pie in the sky with this chip or not. Be worth all the time in the world as long as there are chips and the specs are reasonably available and in sufficient specificity that you can build these Wasps. This will follow on obviously from our current prototypes so it is not like starting from scratch on this.

Uh, definitely watching.  If you need any project management help give me a shout but I'm sure you've got that covered at this point.
On the contrary, we want all the people the projects can handle (notice how I stated that in the inverse of what you would expect, that's JuSt hOw wE RoLL.)  Grin

Pm PM Bicknellski and ask him to LET YOU IN!!

More than happy to add people before the 15th. After that we have to close the door on lurking and it will paid members only.

we need to move away from USB miners. Other than novelty and ebay value, they make no practical sense, since running 2 or 4 chips can be done with basically all the same parts, just drawing more power than a 5V, 0.5A usb port can offer. it scales not much different from this:

Lets say a chip costs 'X':
cost of parts to run 1 chip + fabrication/design + 1 chip = $100 + X
cost of parts to run 2 chip + fabrication/design + 2 chip = $110 + 2X
cost of parts to run 5 chip + fabrication/design + 5 chips = $120 + 5X
cost of parts to run 32 chips + fabrication/design + 32 chips = $200 + 32X

it becomes obvious that the main cost is chips, and to have only 1 chip per usb controller and power regulator is silly. Building a board that has as many chips as possible is the best approach (obviously sizing and modular approach must make sense)

depending on the price i would maybe grab one, 70khash is pretty low though, its basically just a plus XD

as for joining the project and helping, im not sure what technical skills you're looking for so it depends on what you say you need

Hi,

Just thought I would start a thread for a new WPC project. The purpose of this thread is to discuss the development of a BTC/LTC USB miner. The WPC is an OPEN SOURCE project with the goal of developing various miningwares. You can learn more about the WPC in this thread. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/open-source-hardware-project-hive-wasp-prototype-development-325181

So, what is this about you ask? Well....

THIS!

......Anyone want one of these USB Miners?

The WPC needs EE's and other technically skilled people to help develop this and other projects, so if you're someone who fits the bill.....  WE WANT YOU!!

Visit the Wasp & Hive thread mentioned above and PM Bicknellski and ask him to LET YOU IN!!

ARE YOU IN??
THEY ARE!!

This thread is for the discussion and development of a WPC BTC/LTC Miner (specifically for USB but not limited to it.) Lets Have Some FUN, Shall We??!!
