All they need to do is provide public keys and a signed message - without this, such claims have zero credibility.

If they open a faucet then decide to give out a mbtc to each user to prove their raid was real I might believe that they really hacked an ISIS based wallet.
If the group gave out 54 BTC at 0.01 each they could get 5400 Unique claims and no one would question their story and still have 9500 coins to spare.
To my knowledge they are not part of anon that was the medias idea.

What good would that do? Some People Will claim multiple bitcoins by fake claims and others get nothing.

Don't hope for freebies, that is just not how the world works.

It's not a freebie more than a proof of assets, if they have a base of Bitcoins and really took them from ISIS one way to prove it to the community while still remaining psuedo-anonymous is to host a faucet service and mix the addresses.
Either that or proof of address with a signed signature would work either way this story smells of BS.

hosting a faucet serive is not anonymous.. after all silkroad got shut down...

instead proving ownership of funds is much easier.
SIGN a message using the key of that address!!!
you think it too much if you read it carefully they say its not real
so there is nothing to prove the site make story just to attract readers

Nothing to see here. Newsbtc in order to attract more readers fabricated a controversial story, that's all. Since their 'source' is anonymous and they didn't provide BTC address in question, you can't effectively disprove those 'news'.

The best you can do is just switch to more reliable and competent news site.

At the moment there are 10 000 000 little ISIS kids and women, using faucets to try to gain some funding to buy one AK47 by next Xmas. ^joke^ The world has gone crazy, because everyone think if they stop ISIS funding, they would be able to stop terrorism.

These people will stop at nothing to succeed in their religious goals. If they have to swallow diamonds or push it up their butt, they will still get it into the country. You can buy 50 x AK47's with 1 diamond on the black markets, so what makes you think, stopping Bitcoin would change the terrorist from attacking us?

These people burn other people alive and video tape it, what makes you think they will stop at anything, to get into our countries and doing the same thing to us? People have been fighting in the name of religion for centuries and it will not stop, when Bitcoin is banned.  ^hmf^

Man the media is really bad with stuff like this. IIRC Ghost Sec Group did not announce anything specific about the paris attackers. They only said that they had reasonable suspicion that ISIL had around $3 Million BTC. It is just the media who takes words out of their mouths and spins up some story with almost no basis in fact. Everything the media quotes from people is taken out of context.

This does sound like total crap. Last night I was already reading about how they hacked IS' bitcoins and that they could hack other bitcoins. I don't know whose idea this was, but sounds stupid.

A digital currency expert was interviewed on the BBC, earlier this week, and was asked how plausible it was that the terrorists were funded with a digital currency.  His reply was that it is possible but highly unlikely because the market for bitcoin isn't such that they could go out and easily spend the bitcoin for the specialized equipment and resources that they needed.

He had a point....what is one gonna do with that kind of bitcoin in such a short period of time?  They would still have to exchange the bitcoin for fiat to purchase the goods they'd need and that takes time and doing.

Loose lips sink sigs!
Maybe not, and facts are needed...but in the mean time this does help keep Bitcoin in a slightly better light than "currency of ISIS" talk (which we all know is bullshit).

The media is a funny thing, a hunch or light suggestion can change popular opinion.

Unknown and irrelevant "hacktivist" group Ghost Security Group, the same people who claimed without evidence that 3 million dollars worth of ISIS bitcoin were found: http://www.newsbtc.com/2015/11/14/isil-militants-linked-to-france-terrorist-attacks-had-a-bitcoin-address-with-3-million-dollars/ , have now claimed to have hacked and taken the 9554 bitcoin from the ISIL bitcoin addresses: http://info.kopp-verlag.de/hintergruende/enthuellungen/markus-maehler/hackergruppe-anonymous-bringt-terrormiliz-is-um-drei-millionen-euro.html . But there are many problems with the sources of this information...

There is absolutely no reason to believe this. There's been no corroboration offered, and inexperienced and unprofessional "news sites": http://www.newsbtc.com/2015/11/22/9554-bitcoin-belonging-to-isil-seized-by-hactivists/ have been spreading this non-story with headlines like "9554 Bitcoin Belonging To ISIL Seized By Hactivists"

So you're better off just ignoring it. These are unknown people making unfounded claims. The beauty of bitcoin is that we can provide cryptographic proof of transactions. These people did not even offer addresses, let alone any connection to ISIS.

Be especially wary of any articles written by "Dr Tamer Sameeh", who appears to have no journalistic integrity and simply writes articles on NewsBTC for clickbait purposes, with no regard for the truth.
