As far as I'm concerned it's always the thermal pad when GPUs starts acting funny, the reason why many GPUs are dead is because the users aren't monitoring the GPUs most especially those gamers, if you can keep a good eye on your GPU health you won't end up with a dead GPU
So bad thermal pads can make GPU lose hashrate in time? 🤔 It's been a week already since I've noticed that my rtx3080 hashrate keeps going down and down after few trials nothing changed but I just decided to change the thermal pad because I have them around and I was surprised how cooler my GPU gets, now 99MH is back after several hours of mining, Yippy !
I'm glad you solved the problem with the hashrate drop, but what about your guarantee?After replacing the thermal pads, you will not be able to apply for warranty to an authorized service center?
I wrote that these video cards have several good models that mine without replacing thermal pads.
Good for you, remember better pads will be much better like more 12W.

what's your card? as far as i can remember, some 3080 were shipped with bad thermal management, including terrible pads that make the contact between the heatsink and your card to be worse than the fe. is it a new or an old card though? if it's old, maybe that's not the problem then, just a general maintenance issue.
Nothing new here, your GPU lost hashrate because of high temp (throttling), when GPUs get hotter and not well cooled they start to throttle and thus losing their hashing power capabilities
