A/C Tstat's are run on 24 volt AC,so you'll need a transformer (from an old air handler,check with a scrap guy) to power it & a relay to control high voltage,either 120 or 220 volts.But it can do what you want

Be careful what you order, most mains powered fans are not reversible.

I have an electrical cupboard with a lot of stuff (2 x 12 channel amps for whole house audio, TV signal Amp, PC, Hub, router, and BFL Single) all in a rack.
There is a 100mm vent to outside in the ceiling, but is still getting too hot.
I was going to install a fan in the 100mm ducting to blow the hot air outside (e.g. http://www.screwfix.com/p/manrose-axial-20w-bathroom-fan/11097), although could use 12VDC fan if easier.
But I was wanting to get it to be thermostatically controlled. (Ideally speed controlled dependant on temperate, and even more ideally switchable so that I can get it to suck in cold air in the winter so I get some free heating!).
Anyone got any ideas or rigged up any solutions to this?
Happy to do a bit of programming or soldering if I have to!
