This peakd website is running through the blockchain of the hive and LBC(LBRY)? I find it nothing special as YouTube does even have old archive videos from the past.
Well, this is a good application of blockchain but there are tons of the same video we can find in other video-sharing platforms.

YouTube videos are constantly deleted and demonetized off the platform and often there is no way to view them again. So your statement is incorrect.
With HIVE and LBC you are able to post your content in a place that can not be censored or demonetized by any 3rd party.
A channel or video is likely to be deleted or removed by YouTube if it has broken a YouTube community standard. Most content creators from YouTube knows that rule and sometimes it's hard to tackle to retain it back.
But if it's proven that there's no rule that has been broken by the content creator, it will be restored instantly.

yeah, but the difference here is that Hive does it in a decentralized way, agree that at the moment money is better on youtube if you have a number of followers, but this is going to be the future, with all these videos preserved on the blockchain for future generations, and it cannot be censored by unilateral decision of server owner

I haven't really used LBRY though I have heard it before, this is because I once heard you would have to pay LBRY to watch videos. Its not free. But its sure a good alternative that if you have an original video and looks to be full of information that is worth monetizing, its a good place to start.

But if I just have a video that I want to share, I might just consider Dtube, there seem to be no different and its free for all.

No sir, LBRY is just like YouTube or Dtube in the sense that all videos uploaded there are free as long as the uploader has deemed it to be so.

When you upload a video to LBRY you do have the option of putting up a "paywall" so folks have to pay for it before viewing. The majority of videos are like YouTube though, and dont require any payment to view. Its simply an option for creators to enable that and serves as another way for them to monetize their content.

I'm using LBRY too and you are right, as long as there are nodes it is on. Plus it is a bit better then Youtube when it comes to controling your content, you can put a price that user needs to pay in LBRY in order to be able to watch your content. So if you build a good portfolio and users love your content it can be a good alternative to Youtube.
That was sweet but and I thought it works out the same on the monetization of YouTube wherein users wouldn't have to pay for watching instead some advertisers paying for the content creators because of ads they put.

It’s possible to earn more here than in YouTube?
Is the PeakD website also using LBRY?
I think the real issue isn't even about earning but archive. What does it profit anyone if they earn but later their contents are deleted? I will go for archive, any day any time. It keeps history refreshed and such could also be used as educative materials. Well, if this happens and things are placed on the blockchain they're a lot of sects that won't like it because it will help keep their exposed deals permanently indelible on the internet. Criminals and corrupt politicians in Africa won't like this tech.
Well, to be realistic people most of the time only cares on how they can monetized everything, that's an extreme fact. Archiving isn't that bad though but there are other archiving sites that do this that even have to pay just to watch the contents.

They are considering adding options for advertisers as well, so creators will have the option of earning from AD revenue down the road as well just like YouTube.

No the videos are stored in a manner similar to how IPFS/Bittorrent works but its improved in many ways. They are not stored in the blockchain itself. The videos are distributed and can not be deleted unless all the hosts are taken out --- Think of LBRY as a major improvement on IPFS/Bittorrent + integrated with blockchain.

IPFS and BitTorrent are wonderful technologies from which LBRY has drawn a lot of inspiration.

However, they both suffer from the same problems:

1. Lack of discovery. BitTorrent and IPFS provide decentralized ways to access a unique piece of data or information, but they do not provide a way to discover or find what is available.

2. Lack of monetization. Neither BitTorrent nor IPFS innately support payments to publishers for the content or data they create and publish to the network, while LBRY does.

3. No identity. On LBRY, publishes can be authoritatively and provably issued by a cryptographically secured identity.

4. Ugly URLs. BitTorrent only provides access via long, complex magnet URLs. IPFS supports human-friendly naming via IPNS, but as a sort of after-the-fact hack. LBRY URLs tell you what is on the other side of them before you click them.

5. Incentive problems. BitTorrent and IPFS rely on people being generous with their own resources for data to continue to be available. LBRY creates market incentives for data to be as widespread and available as possible.

Is there a storage limit for videos hosted there?
What about if illegal content is posted?

I think it should be possible for community moderators to hide such contents in the future, assuming this is not possible already on the video platform (I haven't really used it before) or on other (truely decentralized) video sites.
It should also be possible for members/participants to filter out the bad contents and have only the good ones  stored in their nodes.

Is the blockchain really hosting the videos ? or just provides the links on the blockchain to the videos ?
If the blockchain can be used to save the videos, then will the blockchain size become very big ?
I still don't understand how the blockchain can store the videos.

How about this?

Was monetization good at LBRY compared to Youtube because if not I think it will still not be flocked by content creators. So blockchain technology has really a good impact on this so LBRY platform will can't be easily down as long as there's someone acting like nodes, am I right?

Many large YouTubers who have been deplatformed are now on LBRY such as:

Stefan Molyneux: 900,000 + Subscribers (prior to delete of channel on YouTube)
Tim Pool: 1.06M subscribers
Alex Jones: 1,000,000 Subscribers (prior to delete of channel on YouTube)
Veritasium: 7.41M subscribers

.... the list goes on. These people are earning crypto on a daily basis now.

The reward for nodes is not active until Q4 of this year so I am not sure how much you will be rewarded.

You can see who is joining LBRY here:

What do you mean rewarded how? Like with running a theta node?
How much can you earn for hosting a node?

What about if illegal content is posted?

There should be some server hosting it right? What if that server is shutdown? What will happen to those archives? Because wherever you put it, you need some sort of storage facility.

The video is hosted in a distributed manner across the network. If you download the LBRY desktop software, your device is acting as one of these "nodes" that stores whats called "blurbs" (parts) of the video on your computer. Whenever you watch a video from the desktop client you are supporting the network. --- Soon nodes will be rewarded for their contribution to the network based upon their hard drive space.

Its distributed across many computers so there is no way to shut it down, similar to how theres no way to shut down all the Bitcoin miners. Unless the power or internet should go out across the world...thats a different story. But even then, when the power came back on the blockchain would sort itself back out.

As for illegal content, keep in mind lbry.tv and https://peakd.com/ are both based in the USA. So if some horrid content got posted there, they could censor it from the front end. -- however anyone can build a dapp with no rules that peers into one of these networks and access the data as the network itself can not be censored. --- I am sure someone is already working on it  Wink ...

I thought this was cool, someone has begun to use LBRY and HIVE networks to start an archive of old film. This footage is now on the internet forever. LBRY network is hosting the video and HIVE has immutable text so the LBRY url will always be available there pointing to the video on LBRY network. Very interesting and cool when you think of the possibilities. Its really a mind trip when you think about it, a lot of this video was taken over 100 years ago almost to the day. Look at where we are now, amazing what humanity has achieved...
