This is a day that we can feel the nervous even if its obviously an April fools entry. Right now, we are still waiting for the trick of Theymos, well he never disappoint. Some crypto related social accounts are already posting their entry, CMC got a toiletpapercoin I hope they’ll produce more supply to all of us.

Hope you and your family are safe. hacker1001101001 told the truth that we are badly stuck into worst situations which aren't letting us enjoy this great new year with many opportunities. Anyways, I had one another thought today itself instead of what I told before - theymos would have removed our airdropped merits and told us that now it's mandatory to earn merits to reach back to your membership levels.  

Coinmarketcap has started the April fools. Nice to see it, very creative. Now everybody knows that there is rank 0 on CMC.
I can't wait for something happening on our forum. It will be surprising if all signatures disappear suddenly on April 1, 2020. Or everybody gets a message from theymos and required to do something to secure their accounts.

Theymos will change the rank requirements like decreasing the require merit and many people will pop out and just wanted to rank up. We really can't predict what theymos is up to this april fool's day. Let's see what gimmick theymos will do this year and how many people will get fooled. I think theymos is a man with a good sense of humor and long before today maybe he has prepared surprises for all forum users whether it is permanent or only temporary. Lets wait a few hours from now, and if theymos cancel the April plan this year then I think its also surprising because we have been waiting for it a few days or a few hours from now.

Although,  I can see your point there is often many comedians which joke about current events, no doubt COVID-19 has been part of that. I understand that some comedians do get into trouble fairly regular, and British comedian Ricky Gervais comes to mind, however I think sometimes comedians are at their funniest when tackling sensitive topics. The thing is their audience knows its a joke, and most of the time its the news that try, and bury their career.

I'm glad you posted this, I think with Google a lot of people only know about their search engine, and trust them as an authoritative source. So, it would probably be wrong to display incorrect information about COVID-19, and probably jokes would be slightly more distasteful if they were to do it. However, Bitcointalk is a forum about Bitcoin, and cryptocurrencies primarily. People aren't coming here for Cornavirus news, unless it relates to Bitcoin in some way. I think Google should continue doing a april fools, but should probably steer clear of something related to the pandemic. However, I don't think Bitcointalk has the same weight on its shoulders due to it being a forum, and not having the authority or services that Google have to offer when in relation with the current pandemic.

Google is apparently canceling their April Fool’s Day jokes for this year due to the Pandemic.

On one hand, a lot of people could probably use a laugh or a joke right now, however on the other hand, it is important that people can trust authoritative sources of information and April Fool’s Day jokes are not real information.

Haha. Now that is hilarious. I guess the day just got more visibility. With that being said, joking about identifying as an 'attack helicopter' will be offensive to many people as you're making a mockery of their beliefs, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't joke about it (and my point was I'm sure many people here wouldn't have found issue with joking about it but people seem to only complain when they personally find something offensive). And Just to clarify, I'm on about the idiots within those communities not everyone in them. I'm all for trans/gay rights etc, but not the ones who insist you have to call them by their "astral" gender (or whatever gender they've made up that day) and those who think it's ok for toddlers to transition etc.

Ive noticed its always related to very common issue on cryptocurrency and forum topics. Such as, forum ranking, merits, ico scamming, and kyc implementation. But for the sake of April fools I wish it isnt something about Craig Wright its been months of April fools already.

I suggested members have to hold down their spacebar whilst they blow into the microphone to prove they don't have corona before they can't proceed.

I was not intend to make laugh of COVID-19... Maybe "prank" was the wrong word to use...My idea was - the whole World if crazy about COVID-19, so why not "use" it on April 1 ? Once again, my intention was not to make fun of it, but, may be, to remind why it is important to wash hands and or to observe simple hygiene rules (that is why I wrote "ask to upload photo of washing hands").

He could do some prank with connection to COVID-19 virus. Remember how he announced, that KYC is now required to join forum? He could ask to upload photo of you "washing hands", so you wont get infected by COVID-19 while posting on the forum. Or upload a signed confirmation that you and your family recently haven't visited most-affected countries, so that the virus wont sneak to the forum and infect its 2766137 members.

No one knows until has been done . We all knew how Theymos was so imaginative when it comes to pranks so it was really hard to predict what he will do this year. The best we can do I guess is to forget about this for the meantime so that we can still feel the excitement when the day comes.

But what if, just a WHAT IF, because of this thread Theymos choose to not prank us this year since we are now anticipating it already and busy predicting on his setup? Ironically, doing nothing this year could be a great prank also .

2. Some accounts will be banned and it will not unbanned if they don't make x amount of bitcoin.

Why would that be amusing? Kicking scammers out of the trust system is not as ironic as many in meta would have you believe.

It is far more of a troll to allow scammers and their supporters to run the trust system and brand whistle blowers as scammers.

However, I got freaked out when he introduced something like classification to every account that seem to speak on the personality of owners and I think, that also threw the forum into much worry until it was unraveled as April fools.

Maybe theymos decides to take an educational approach. He could create a Bitcointalk phishing site and redirect traffic to it to see how many users pay attention to what they are doing. It would be interesting to see that stats for such a thing.

I'm sure he, Theymos knows better not to play "heavy" prank on a day that is not known as April fools day. I think April fools day have already been known worldwide and pranks played on the day before 12pm or at most, 12pm is allowed incase anything goes wrong with the receiver of such message. I think the court has taken judicial notice of April 1 and time limitation/bound for it,  I think so though.

Who has even researched on the history of April 1 called as April fools day. I hope users can do that....

I believe that when we're already talking about this, theymos may decide not to play any prank on 1st April and would rather decide some other date to do so, just to let users think that he's serious but it'd come out to be an April fool later on. I think he'll just disable PM feature so not to let some user give a death threat to another famous entity.

He could announce that the new forum is ready, create a table, and request users to enter their usernames and passwords for easier database merging.
After that we just sit back and watch what happens.

They're often staff-suggested ones or at least staff suggest additions. I'm still hoping the one I've been suggesting for years gets done  . It's simple but effective and I know it will get a lot of people even if it's only brief. I'm not going to say what it is but maybe if it doesn't get done this year I will.


We can take a day off whenever we want, though I wouldn't say no to paid holiday and sick leave  (though I think that's one of the reasons why we technically aren't employees so they don't have to offer that and I also can't sue theymos for the sexual harassment he keeps sending me via PMs  ).

Imho, the best solution for a "day off for mods" is to disable post button for a day, but to warn about it long before.

Completely agree with you. I forgot that April Fools day will after few weeks, so, theymos prank would fun surprise for me. But when everyone is talking about it, it's not that fan. Now I know that when I will visit Bitcointalk on April 1st, first question in my mind will be "what did theymos made for this year April fools day?" and I won't be fooled.

I think Theymos should just reveal himself as Satoshi on the D-Day and end the CW claim, simple.

Theymos has a very good sense of humor and every joke he makes us believe in what's going on. I remember how confused I was in the first seconds when I read that KYC was introduced in the forum.   The first thought was to go prepare the documents.

I think it's unrealistic to guess his new joke, but most of all I liked marlboroza's idea with signatures. It would be just a bomb for those who forgot about April Fool's Day.  

I got fooled hard two years ago while still growing on the forum... Lol

And like last year, we've got members like OP trying to spoil the fun--April fools jokes work so much better when there's not a community discussion about them.  The element of surprise is key to them working IMO, because there will always be some members who aren't aware of the tradition and will be completely fooled by it.  Thus I think it best if talk about this coming April 1st is kept to a minimum.

The funniest in my experience was when Theymos introduced all those different attributes like "politeness" and all that.  There were a lot of people who took it seriously and flooded Meta with "WTF?" threads.  It's hard to top that, but I'm sure Theymos could do it if he tried.

Is it just me or time flies so fast?

At least for the past two years on the forum , I have witnessed that Theymos has come up with different mind blowing gimmicks for the April fools day and so many users would fall for the moment getting the whole forum a new discussion and threads apart from the routine bitcoin and crypto talk for like three days to a week.

Therefore exactly a month today, we are going to wake up with another April fools day on the forum.

Let us reminisce on the last gimmicks Theymos played on the forum on April 1 and which one caught you    

Again, what do you think he can come up for this year, let us preempt him. I'm not sure he can offer 0.01btc for every active user or randomly
