Hey guys https://bitcoinstarter.com/ has been around for a while now - check it out!

There is no real reason to make many kickstarter type sites when we have one! We all should rally around BitcoinStarter and make it successful.

Competition is always great. Plus I woundn't start a kickstarter in BTC cause bitcoin protocol scripts will kill it instantly.
It spreads things to thin for me! But I hear what your saying :p how you!?

okay bitcoinkickstarter is an awesome site, but why not also support other kickstarting idea, which is just  different  to that......
and how or what does it means that a bitcoin protocol scripts will kill it, what does that means?? can you reference us to some information....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mD4L7xDNCmA Watch this and you will know what I am talking about. But basically the bitcoin protocol one day when the core devs turn it on, will be able to do scripts as well. Like if you wanted a certain action before releasing the coins from one address to another.

I am interested, I have also done a 100% functional application, just have not yet started, can we discuss sometime

Sure - send me a PM when you have time - now that the Moneychanger project (which combines OT, Bitmessage and various other interesting things) is well underway I am in the process of reviewing the workflow to see what improvements can be made to the process.

So I have an idea I would like to toss into the community to get a feel for what you guys think about it.

The idea is to setup a web site that would be similar to kickstarter, propsper, or some other crowd or micro funding web site. So what do you guys say? Should I start work on this?

Thanks
-Joshua

So to answer your question (since the thread was hijacked) - looks like it's been done already.   Wink
Have you taken a look at at CIYAM Open (ciyam.org/open with an introductory slideshow at ciyam.org)?

The site is going to be getting a "makeover" soon and we would be keen to discuss improvements and possible partnerships.

Cheers,

Ian.

Yeah - I had a feeling that comment was going to come.

The layout is Bootstrap 101 - I can understand that feedback, we will work on getting a new layout up ASAP!

I use bootstrap as well, and my site looks nothing like coinbase.

Point noted - I agree, we will change it.

Hello,

We have just launched a new service in the bitcoin crowdfunding space.  You can check it out at www.coinfunder.com.

There are several others out there that are in development / have been in development in the past.  We started development about a month ago because it did not look like there was anyone in that space that was active.

Let us know what you think of the service!  We will be starting another thread to announce the website.  Hopefully, we can get a good discussion going on there for what is needed in the space.

Best Regards,
The CoinFunder Team

Consider coderbounty.com, bountify.co and flattr.com
Or maybe a crowdsourcing site as such for giving bounties for the most helpful list of code comments and helpful documentation to be added to a github project or part of it.

Search around, it has been done before, and it failed. I think the reason they failed was it was too closely to kickstarter, I think if you built out the idea a bit more and some more features, instead of a direct copy.

Was just thinking about it, using sites like those as inspiration. This would be a fairly large project that would take me a while to do. I use be very active on prosper before they shut down lending money out because they don't have a license in my state. Cry

Thinking about prosper, the site could be set up so you loan BTC to the person or biz, would receive monthly income. I don't think this will work since the value of bitcoins is very volatile, I could be wrong though.

A bitcoin kickstarter would be pretty cool, but this idea needs to be really be fleshed out with a full list of features and functionality before I start work on it.
