The scam is this.. everyone and their brother runs around here saying that it is not problem to charge back paypal. Which is a lie. You send the payment as a gift thinking you are safe.. that is not the case. If you try and charge back a gift payment funded from your  balance and you will see what I mean.. it cant be done.

I think this might be a scam of a different nature. The seller of coins is trying to make the OP blind with greed and trick him into doing something foolish. Be very careful.

before you do anything make him send .0101010101 coins to another address and back again to prove he owns the coins.

No need to do that. He can sign a message with his address to prove that he owns that address. IT is easy to verify the message. You can even do that online on the verify tab of brainwallet.org.

Hi,

not neccessarily a scam.
I *would* entertain this deal on ONE condition - he sends first. Simple as that.

If he/she is serious and he/she can see that you (I) have a good rep - then they will send first.
If they send first - its no problem.

If you want to proceed with it - I am happy to escrow for you.

it doesn't matter who sends first if using paypal. paypal user can pull back funds for up to 6 months. ive seen it plenty of times where people wait all the way until the end of the 6 months and then pull it back.

which is why i NEVER accept paypal for anything unless I have reason to believe this person will be in a position of accountability for at least 6 months. very few people fit this criteria though, maybe 10? if any.

also i am happy to escrow as well. i have extensive trades done here on this forum.

Sold between 60 and 70k so far this year for paypal. So yes there are people who fit that criteria

If the seller of btc is accepting paypal and the op is sending then it is risk free if the seller sends first. There is no charge back risk for the Op he is the one sending the paypal

Or try escrow.  You won't lose Wink   Either he sends first or you escrow.  But I have a good feeling once you suggest this to him, he won't reply Wink

Hi - in this deal the buyer is wary of the seller....
Its not about the Paypal.
Thanks.

due to the mechanics of the trade, the person PMing is selling bitcoin and accepting paypal.

this means that if the person does not deliver, OP, the buyer, can easily get their money back. as you can then see, it does not matter who sends first what so ever. for being around longer than me, you should know this by now. especially because you espouse yourself o be a bitcoin trader.

you saying this isn't about paypal is like saying this thread isn't about bitcoin.
