Yeah, You are sitting in front of your fucking pc saying everything other people are recommending is bullshit. What about writing something more constructive, idiot?

You put as much effort into your posts, like the shitposters you hate so much!

I do not get why de the* newbie jail got removed anyway? It was a good concept to keep the shit out of the main board, and prevented peopple people* from making a shitload of alt accounts.
There were a lot of issues for it,probably. More workload and the like.
How long have people been complaining? For several years.
How many concrete changes has theymos enacted in order to combat any of these problems? None1.
How many real (genuine) users have abandoned or been forced to abandon ship because of this? Numerous.

[1] Actually things that work.
Note: I agree with every single point that OP has listed, and there's probably more. The reason for which I refuse to tackle other people's posts is because we've already discussed all of this ad nauseum".
Feel free to add more points.
How many real (genuine) users have abandoned or been forced to abandon ship because of this? Numerous.
Why won't they? The reason why a lot of people come to this forum is because signature campaigns not to learn about bitcoin. Not even a handful people are here for a good cause. The people who left might have got sick of the loners and shitposters, which is also wasting their time while they have better things to do.
Maybe, like Radioactivetechguy suggests it could be beneficial to alter the newbie jail to better comment the issues stated above. But, then again there's only so many limitations you can put on a user and if their goal is to make money through signature campaigns then they'll just grind it out.
I think the mods have numerous ideas to implement it,they need the authority. Decentralization of authority would be one of the very best things to do for the betterment of the forum but not the laissez-faire type because the forum will end in ruins just left over.
Those things on the OP actually reflects the internet itself. I mean, it's not just happening on this forum but also all over the internet.
Here's the thing, the forum is not perfect and there's nothing we can do about it. Even if there was, it just needs a lot more effort than you've expected.
Just focus on the new forum and hope the migration goes well.
Obviously a lot of effort is required but its not impossible to tackle the problems that one faces. With determination and quick wit anything is possible, for I believe in such. Why only hope? Why not have faith? theymos is working hard on it,right. The internet faces the same shit,so do we,we are also a part of the internet ,but when will we learn?
There's hardly anything done here about known scammers. I know it's not perfect, but at least we csld could* ban recognised scammers (and there are several in circulation, just have a look in the "digital goods" subsection).
Is bitcointalk full of scammers because Internet is full of scammers, or is Internet full of scammers because some forums like bitcointalk gives them full tools to practise their robbery without repression?
theymos is not willing to ban scammers but spammers. The scammers are let to roam freely even after numerous amount of scams and they can create alt accounts to scam yet again, the saddest thing ever. They belong to the list of assholes which includes unpunished rapists, pedophiles, burglars and the like.
This issue is has* always been* the problem since*few years ago. Spammings spammers* are everywhere because many people has have this mindset that they can earn extra income just by posting and spamming around the forum.
Theymos is doing something to make this forum a better place. I hope the implementation of the new forum will go smoothly.
About scammers* I suggest that having a posting fee is recomended recommended,* by doing so, it will decrease the possiblity possibility* of a project or an ICO to scam people.
This will never be a perfect place, but it can be a better place for everyone who uses Crypto and a good place to learn.
This is pure spam. Irony at its best. If you have anything of a good cause which would really be helpful, please spread it out. What you have said is only a repetition of what others have been saying since then.
Roll Eyes There are a lot of things that could be done. Stop posting bullshit.
Good luck to that ever happening.
I agree. This forum is wrongly used by quite a lot of users. Maybe the admin team can consider tackling this problem in 2018.
Maybe you can stop with the classic one line shit posts. Angry
There have been countless proposals by staff on how to deal with the spam with some suggestions that will almost eradicate it. Things like punishing the operators of signature campaigns who run them lazily (or not at all most of the time) can easily be implemented and is pretty much just common sense.  If you run a bad campaign with a lot of shitposters then your account is banned and your threads trashed and your signatures removed/blacklisted and you are no longer allowed to advertise here in such a way. It's not exactly rocket science. Removing signatures from ranks/activity would also curb the amount of spam and shitposting drastically as well as account farming but theymos doesn't seem willing to even try this. What actually happens to try curb low quality content is down to theymos now but staff have pretty much done all they can and it's in his hands to decide what to do next.
But I guess theymos isn't willing to answer that,is he? He's quite busy with his work, spamming would be his least concern,no? One can only hope for the betterment of this forum.I pity the mods for the amount of hard work they put in return for almost nothing.
Personally I have noticed many new accounts that are posting some relevant thing to theards but nothing spetacular simply just to post and if you take closer look their activity is almost indentical with their posts. I get it people are here for money but it is not nice to abuse the system since this forum has provided me a lot of information before I even thought on joining here myself.

You can't get rid of scammers here, nor you can get rid of them anywhere. Money is driving force of human behaviour and many don't even care as long as they are getting money it's even easier through the internet when you are not talking face to face to other person. This can be minimized but this doesn't guarantee that there will be none.

I agree with off-topic and politics since many people ask some relevant questions just to get something to write, maybe until they reach some status such as jr memeber or higher to enroll for campaigns.

What does DT stands for, sorry but my knowledge don't seems that good.
Here's the thing, the forum is not perfect and there's nothing we can do about it.
Roll Eyes There are a lot of things that could be done. Stop posting bullshit.

One thing that could potentionally cut off many people from spamming and doing these account farming, whcih which* I have recently found, would be to implement that in order to post you have to link your account on this forum with your phone number. For this some telegram bot could be made so you don't have to pay a lot in terms of message fees. Although this doesn't guarantee that there won't be any spammers. Of course there will and could be since you can buy temp mobile numbers but I think that not many will do so and simply by implementing this you will get lower amount of people who will want to spam here.
Phone number for a forum which is now only comprised of spam, wouldn't be worth it. But again you have SIGNATURE CAMPAIGNS,so something against it will be come up with soon.
There should be a limit for people to post in politics section,no? It'll help to curb down shit posting?
-snip-
The questions are ridiculously ridiculous, although the idea for restricting the users to post in off-topic and politics subsection seems to be good, wish for it to get implemented.
I once was participating in a forum who also provided free webspace for active posters. They obviously also had problems with users spamming*the forum so they introduced a spam score (shown below the user avatar similar to the trust score in this forum.) This score showed the percantage percentageof spam posts created by an user. And if it was above a certain value their webspace got locked. I think this would not be that hard to implement here too :0
The idea of spam score doesn't seem bad,as most of the users would just ignore the spammers in their list. Roll Eyes
It's not organic forum because people post crap to increase posts and become members etc...
Ie this post. I hate how I have to post to be part of the community, I like just reading....
You aren't forced to post here, feel free to stay the fuck away.
How does that work? Does it require someone to manually review every post and decide if it is spam or is it some automated system? If it is manual I think the volume of posting on this forum would probably make it impractical to implement.
Something which would only increase the workload of mods.
Mods were able to flag posts as spam instead of deleting them.
What's the difference? Puts more workload on the mods only.
*=FTFY
Huge shout out to the mods. And wish everyone a belated Fucking Happy New Year.

I like the idea of making politics and offtopic only avaiable for higher ranks. This would force shitposters to write relevant posts. There are boards like minig with very active mods who would instantly delete shitposts.

I agree with off-topic and politics since many people ask some relevant questions just to get something to write, maybe until they reach some status such as jr memeber or higher to enroll for campaigns.

I was thinking about maybe suggesting making boards like Off Topic and Politics only available to higher ranks. I don't see any good reason why Newbies should be allowed to post in there. This is a bitcoin forum, but newbies only post in those boards because they don't know about anything else so they use it to quickly shitpost to rank up in. Some of the threads that are getting posted in there is ridiculous. Just a sample of the ones I've trashed from today alone (and all these were the user's very first post):

where are u first have sex?

i'm pretty curious about this  Grin

Do you like smoking?

why do you enjoy with cigarettes?
To me i really hate smoke, so i can't smoke cigarettes.

which singer best live in USUK?

My guess is that there are only Bruno Mars. Anyone else guys?

what do you think of a human being becoming immortal?

the first thing i think of is the population explosion.

what perfume is the most popular?

i'm in need of a perfume, good price. can anyone tell me one?

Why the hell would they sign up to this forum just to ask those questions? I'll tell you why: Account farming. They'll shitpost themselves all the way up to whatever rank will accept them on a signature campaign then shitpost even more over multiple accounts.

What does DT stands for, sorry but my knowledge don't seems that good.

Default trust. Default trust is the network or trusted users here on bitcointalk.

One thing that could potentionally cut off many people from spamming and doing these account farming, whcih I have recently found, would be to implement that in order to post you have to link your account on this forum with your phone number. This isn't going to happen. It would only slow farmers down and put off genuine users. People would find ways around it as well, not to mention there would be services that pop up offering verifications for a price. There's easier and much more effective ways to combat farming than this.

  • To begin with, user OgNasty, a DT1 member is falsely giving negative trust to users like aTriz, owlcatz etc when they tried to oppose him with a trade where users thought the price was too much and asked whether or not OgNasty lied that he had engraved the collectible or not. The situation would have dissolved quickly but then things started getting heated and worse. We are seeing the outcome of it. Og,not cool ,what you're doing.
  • People are scamming everywhere.
  • Theymos isn't doing anything about the tons and tons of issues.
  • Mods are polluted with work stress.
  • People are coming up with various ways to avoid their ban and scam people.
  • This forum has become a place for users having 100s of accounts and abusing campaigns and the lending section.
  • Wannabes abusing the off-topic and politics board to increase their activity.
  • Number of DT members are reducing too.

True indeed, the newbie jail thing can be imposed again but with better restrictions which deride the disadvantages away and concentrate more on the advantages.

I do not get why de newbie jail got removed anyway? It was a good concept to keep the shit out of the main board, and prevented peopple from making a shitload of alt accounts.
Probably because it's easy to bypass and just hinders the legitimate people who are registering on the forum. I'm going to quote Saltyspitoon's comment on the newbie jail.

Ehh, I was a moderator luckily only for a few months with the whitelist system, and it was not fun. I remember going through newbie jail, I dont think it had a post requirement at the time, I just left Bitcointalk open for 4 hours and just went and did something else. I also delayed signing up for a few months, using a friends account because I didn't feel like going through newbie jail. People don't seem to realize that getting rid of newbie jail doesn't really change much, it just delays spammers/bots by 4 hours, so essentially after 4 hours of changing the newbie jail system, things would go back to normal. Anyway, report bots/spammers/account farmers if you see them. There are a few staff members who are really good at purging large numbers of spammers at once. Report one, and 20 will go away quickly.
He experienced first hand what is was like to be someone who was forced to go through newbie jail, and someone who dealt with the newbie jail as a moderator. Maybe, like Radioactivetechguy suggests it could be beneficial to alter the newbie jail to better comment the issues stated above. But, then again there's only so many limitations you can put on a user and if their goal is to make money through signature campaigns then they'll just grind it out.

Of course, not every nice person is capable of speak English perfectly, but it's a fact that the majority of the people who can't speak English properly is posting threads/comments that are either very hard to understand due to their awful grammar, spelling, punctuation and sentence structuring or they state false information.
Of course it does. The grammar is awful and what can we do about it. Its not like they are taking special efforts to improvise it or something, they know even if they improvise it they still will get paid the same amount of money.
Karma doesn't exist. Revenge, however, definitely does.
Karma exists, for some people who believe in it. So for them, its either a beautiful thing or its a bitch. I don't see the difference though. Roll Eyes
If they had to pay to post, they wouldn't join. Paying $90 for posting 30 shitposts on each of your 30 accounts isn't worth it if you risk being banned from Signature Campaigns, thus losing your money.
Of course, they'll try to find a way to sneak through it, but the harder we make it for them, the lesser of them there will be.
Would be nice to have some extra coders though, as that would mean more & faster development of Bitcointalk, which is a pretty positive thing.
Paying 90$ is not worth, they will find some exception to it,beg the managers to do something about it or whatever.
I'm not sure if theymos wants a basic java programmer. He's looking for an advanced programmer for creating software for this forum,I don't have a clue about it. But I do wish to learn.
In addition to the ICO advertisement problem, some more disadvantages to it would include, but are not limited to:
-Exclusion of newbies, whilst some might carry valuable or simply useful information.
-A huge amount of work would have to be done to check whether the posts are quality.
-Shitposters will simply try to post larger posts and hope to get accepted, enlarging the amount of work checkers would have to do.
-Shitposters could easily post 30 posts of reasonable quality and then switch to shitposting after they've gained access to the full board.
True indeed, the newbie jail thing can be imposed again but with better restrictions which deride the disadvantages away and concentrate more on the advantages.
I assure you I won't be offended.  What you wrote could be right from my mouth.
I think it depends on your choice, want to invest in bitcoin or investment in the stock market, because everything is also good to be a place to invest.
You think a post like this has only grammar wrong with it?  It's a vague one-line response that adds nothing to any real conversation.  It's lazy and unnecessary.  People do this constantly just to rank up and/or get paid.  It's fucking disgusting.
That's indeed a shit post. Even this guy here is a definite shitposter:
...

I did not say that people who can't write proper English are bad people--they just shouldn't be posting here.  The fact that some deodorant-sandwich eating cretins have discovered that they can become ballers by shitposting is a distressing concept to me.  It's true:  I'd rather see them go hungry and use birth control than have them make 1000 accounts all posting nonsense.  So sue me.
I see you have been getting angered by the shitposting in this forum,I'd get used to it,if you're going to stay here.  Shitposters aren't going to go away. Neg one of them, ten new accounts are created. Can't do anything about it if new mods are not going to be introduced.
Nah.. it depends on your mindset.
this is a very huge forum.. covering worldwide.. so, anyone can do whatever they want..
shit or not.. well, sometimes you did shit too dont you?
This is such a bullshit logic. Get the fuck of here.

Is this your way? I can do whatever I want, it's my choice, nobody is gonna tell me what to do! That's some rebel attitude you got there. Pretty childish, don't you think?
If there were no rules and we could be doing whatever we wanted, wherever we wanted, the world would become a chaotic and fucked up place.

Even if they pollute the forum, this forum is clearly created for freedom of speech, and not every person who can't speak proper english is a bad person. That is so discriminating.
Free advice:- Do not be such a cunt, for know this,Karma is a fucking bitch.
And oh,You agree you're not a nice person IRL? My photographic memory says so that you edited your message soon after you sarcastically or non-sarcastically told that you're a nice person IRL. But eh,like I care about it? I see everyone as a bastard,so pff.. And I do not mean to offend you by this,so do not get offended.
I assure you I won't be offended.  What you wrote could be right from my mouth.

So sue me.

The mods might appreciate it but their workload only increases. I do wish to help but honestly my timings clash very much,so sincere apologies. But how many people can you report? There are handful of really good posters who wish to help the community and an ocean of shitposters. Additional active mods can help here.
if 100 people could report just one post a day then that's 100 less nonconstructive posts. Lutpin & Shorena used to be very active reporters and reported many posts each day. Last time going off they had around 20,000 posts just between the two of them. Then there were multiple other users with several thousand reports.

Hoping for less shitposting in 2018.
You wish.
Of course, not every nice person is capable of speak English perfectly, but it's a fact that the majority of the people who can't speak English properly is posting threads/comments that are either very hard to understand due to their awful grammar, spelling, punctuation and sentence structuring or they state false information.
Karma doesn't exist. Revenge, however, definitely does.

Your method can be derided by shitposters, they always tend to find a way in.
But about the coding part,I do know the basics of Java(in netbeans) and MySQL. Not sure I can help him here, and I am inactive on this forum because I'm swamped with the workload that I already have.

Probably would have been removed because of new users coming in to advertise their ICOs. Had it been there, the forum would have been much better.

There are bounties promising to pay after people invested on their ICO, copy and paste a white paper and change a few words, then post your announcement thread, if no body bought your scam, you could always advertise for free, post a bounty thread and promise to pay after people bought your shitcoin. that is not so hard to do, if you could sell your shitcoin to people, you'd pay with your shitcoin to shitposters, but if people didn't buy them, you could start working on your next shitcoin, post your threads and beggars would keep advertising for free until you get what you wanted.
All for free, no body cares if you are telling 20 shitposters to create 40K posts with hundreds of alt accounts.

But if shitposters would have to pay minimum $0.1 per post while wearing a signature, they would keep posting with no doubt, the only difference would be $4000 earned from them, people would also think twice before joining such campaigns.
Theymos could assign a mod to tag any bounty participants for payment, (the first attempt to post after wearing a signature should redirect you to a page asking for a minimum of $10 in Ð or Ł or Ξ or anything other than BTC to unlock 100 posts for you while wearing a signature).
Theymos is alone, doing everything by himself is difficult, if you are a coder and want something to be done about this problem, help him in coding.

When I first registered in 2012 or so there was a newbie forum. Every newbie had to post at least ~30 non spam posts before he had acces to the full board.
Probably would have been removed because of new users coming in to advertise their ICOs. Had it been there, the forum would have been much better.
If anyone wants to actively fight against the spam coming from signature campaigns just go to their thread and the majority of them have a spreadsheet with the usernames of all the participants, or you can scroll through the thread manually.  Then look at their posts, and report any that are spam. (I would recommend signature managers to do this when they are reviewing too)

It's literally a database for spammers. You'll find a lot of the accounts are trying to hide in the spam in the altcoin section. As well as a few accounts just rehashing what someone previously said in a thread. Alternatively, if you see someone with a shitpost, look at their history and report any other shitposts too. The mods will appreciate it and the general browser.

When I finally get a desktop computer and internet access from home, I'm going to start tagging account farmers/shitposters in earnest.  And in my mind there's little doubt who's doing it.  It's like pornography.  It's hard to define exactly, but you know it when you see it.
This is for now second best strategy right after banning them, but it will keep working only as long as tagged accounts remain banned from entering campaigns. If you tag enough of them some managers will surely set new rules that will allow tagged accounts post with reduced rates. Business is business.
I was lurking in 2014-2015 before I created this account and it was pretty damn bad then.  Lately it's gotten a hellova lot worse, though.  Sig campaigns have turned into lucrative money-making ventures for the Philippines and other poor, undereducated (not just in English, either) countries and they've attracted people in those countries by the thousands.  It's great for them but horrible for the forum.
It's not just a lucrative business for the poor, it's a gold mine. Some of you rich boys should realize that in those countries you're earning 20$ a day in a job, working your ass of in construction, docks, or driving a cab. Recently, when Bitcoin was closing to $20,000, campaigns were paying over 10$ for a post! One day spent on a forum can feed a family for a month in Pakistan, India, or Bangladesh . This is a life changing deal for those people and they will keep swarming here like locust trying to copy-paste and google translate until something is done.
This thread is not for insulting anyone in terms of their ethnic background, but I cannot help agreeing with you on the fact that "working" on this forum can be financially boon for a lot of people. Since theymos isn't going to agree on banning on account sales,or limiting people to not have more than one account or banning signature campaigns, people are going to take advantage to their very best. This is just adding up to the pile of workload on mods. And theymos isn't willing to add new mods too.
Some of you rich boys
I don't consider myself rich, though the country I'm in may be considered better than some dirt-poor 3rd world country.

Right now it looks as though campaigns have dried up--I can't find one to join!  I'm OK with that, but it is definitely fun earning an extra income just by posting here, which I do anyway.  It just galls me that these morons earn that much money, enough to live like a king in their shit country--and they're so fucking lazy and ignorant about it that they can't even be bothered to put in a minimum amount of effort!  Really, if you can feed your family with one day's work on bitcointalk, don't you think you should be writing pure fucking gold?  But no, they either copy/paste or rewrite those garbage "bitcoin is going up day by day so our profit increase" type posts.  It's sickening.  I want their money.  They don't deserve it.  They should be left to starve to death.
Don't be this rude towards people who don't even know you. You cannot put the entire blame on the people from the third world countries, because they do not have proper education facilities for learning English or any other subject. They just byheart whatever they are asked to and just continue doing so. The blame is on campaign managers too not all of them but some, who use bots to manage their campaign. Some of them don't even bother to read their participant's posts. And please, control your anger, you'll have a cardio attack. And one more reason for shitposting is that the lack of knowledge people possess on bitcoin,if they bother to read, they can improve their Englsih as well as their knowledge. But I don't think they are going to do so until and unless managers, and theymos start taking some serious action.

  • People are scamming everywhere.
  • People are coming up with various ways to avoid their ban and scam people.
  • This forum has become a place for users having 100s of accounts and abusing campaigns and the lending section.
  • Wannabes abusing the off-topic and politics board to increase their activity.

These are things that exist since I know this forum.

LOL.  I haven't looked at the rest of this guy's post--I hope he just posted that to be ironic or whatever.  But it's posts EXACTLY like this that are making bitcointalk suck.  And we all know why, too.  Because of sig campaigns and the value that's placed on being a high-ranked member.  I'm seeing a ton of new accounts making bullshit posts like "Agree wit u bro", and they do that just so they can rank up (multiple) accounts.  Who wants to read garbage like that?
What can you do bout it too? Most of the bounty managers do not even read the participant's posts and they just put a limit of 100-500 participants and use a bot to count posts and check other stuff like signature or avatar. Though I don't know much about it,this is an issue here though.Shitposters ruining the forum.

I'm not sure I understand what you want to be answered, but for me personally I always check every trust that the user has before trading with them. Regardless, whether they are trusted feedback or untrusted.
What I am trying to say is,why are people going after Green trust, what's the use if you're not going to trade? To join signature campaigns?
It's likely that he will do something about it, but at the moment he's just collecting feedback from the community before implementing something to prevent future controversy. For example, it was requested numerous times to limit the amount of personal messages that we can be sent by a user, specifically newer accounts. That was implemented a little while ago, admittedly a bit overdue but it was implemented.
Some good news,a little ray of hope is still there?
If you can add a few solutions to the current problems I imagine he would welcome that. Hilariousandco has been very outspoken throughout his time here, and I personally support some of the solutions he's came up with to curb the current issues with signature spam. Theymos has already ruled out his suggestions though.
I'd love to add in suggestions but most of them are already suggested,if  ever I come up with some thing helpful, would definitely share.

People are scared of speaking against OgNasty?

Tell me one thing, what's the use of people going after DT members or positive trust members to seek trust, its not going to benefit them financially given they are not scammers. I feel the green trust  system is somewhat useless during off-trades. About the escrow ,I fully agree with you.

True, but then issues are issues. Theymos is an admin,he should try to do something not figuratively but literally. Creating threads and keeping quiet after that, not something which is expected of the admin, you can see how pissed hilariousetc/hilariousandco is,for the fact that theymos is ignoring quite a lot of queries. The new forum is been under devolopement since forever.

One more weird thing which I noticed was the amount of TX accelerators, people are using free ones, and users are paying them tips? What bull-shit is this man? Some sort of development is required.
There's a thread about this over here in the meta section currently: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/please-stop-the-free-tx-accelerator-spam-or-at-least-give-it-its-own-section-2625104

People are scamming everywhere.
This has always been happening since the start of the forum. It was why the trust system and default trust was introduced. Various members try to combat it using the feedback on the trust page. Really, though anyone dealing with another user on the forum should use escrow.

Theymos isn't doing anything about the tons and tons of issues.
He's started two discussion threads about the recent problems and asked the communities feedback which to me looks like he's trying to do something about the current situation.
Most of the problems that you have mentioned has been happening since you have been registered though, so I don't quite understand how you see anything different. These problems have existed for at least a year now.

From quite some time, there's been a lot going on in this forum, most of them are because of self-minded approach and money approach also despise and short-temper.

Does this belong to this section or meta?
If anyone thinks I have created an alt to accuse OgNasty for any vivid reason, the answer is no. This account was created a few months ago,but I got busy with trading so left my account behind,so I thought of visiting the forum during the holidays, saw some messed up shit all across the forum.
