Just in case anybody is having difficulty accessing the website (I did earlier), here is the line of Arabic text that causes the crash: [mac font exploit]

At first I thought this was going to be the file:/// bug, but this is different one. Dammit Apple, why can't you write a working text renderer? It's not that hard! Well, actually it is kinda hard given the bajillions of character encoding systems out there, but it's not hard to write one that doesn't crash on certain text strings! What the fuck?

It's especially funny to send a text message with this content to your friends iphone xP
(No, don't do it, they can't open their Messages app then anymore).  Wink

Anybody know how to FIX the iPhone messenger now?  LOL

Confirmed...Crashes Google chrome also on IPad.

the issue is with the WebKit browser engine, but it actually affects any browser or application that uses Apple's CoreText API

I wonder what would happen if some forum member with lots of posts would put that string in his signature  Grin
I think I won't recommend it xD
Done.
Oh wait....maybe I now have a virus......   Smiley
From what I read it will not allow memory access so there is no remote code execution possibility. So no virus for now.

Bastard, I clicked the link on my iPad before reading the warning. I had to reset Safari to get it to work again.  Undecided

That's hilarious! The following string will crash apple devices:
https://zhovner.com/tmp/killwebkit.html (I won't post it here because then you couldn't even read this topic if you were using an apple device)

http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/08/rendering-bug-crashes-os-x-and-ios-apps-with-string-of-arabic-characters/

I wouldn't know, my iPhone crashes when I try to load almost any page.
