Yes, if you lose your private key, you will lose the bitcoin forever, so now the actual number of bitcoin lost is very large.

HODLing is an art, not just a word...
you will never know.

maybe those who lost their coins find some way to recover it, like remembering the password. recovering the lost wallet file using HDD recovery tools,... or maybe they say they have lost it but they never did....

Given human nature, I wonder if far far far in the future almost all Bitcoin will have "evaporated" because all the private keys will have been lost.  Grin

My understanding of the blockchain and bitcoin is not very clear, but I see from some articles. Before bitcoin broke out, many people lost their bitcoin because they lost their private key or made the wrong address. And the number of lost bitcoin should be a staggering figure, then these bitcoin really can not find it back?
Or will there be other ways to make up for this regret?
If you lost your private keys then your bitcoins will be very safer in the wallets but it forever can't get back.So we must need pass phrase or private keys if we need to access our bitcoins.
But the last bitcoins will be there but don't make any changes in the total supply so it will increase the price of bitcoin little bit.

Bitcoin lost will never be found. But the number of bitcoin will never decrease. The only thing that will decrease is the number of bitcoin that are circulating in the market.

Your understanding is correct, there is no way to retrieve the bitcoin if the private key is lost. Therefore, it is important to write down your private key and keep in a safe place.

Surely there are many lost bitcoin lying around in some address because many years back bitcoin are of not much value to holders. Soon they most probably forgot their address or misplaced them somewhere which may never be able to get back ever again. It would be nice if there are solutions to this problem where we can spread them through airdrop or some way to the mass market.

Sad for those that lost their bitcoin though.

Dissappear, maybe the words that are suitable for that. The only way to access those address is private key (except for exchanges address), If it's lost or suddenly deleted. You can said good bye to your asset. Impossible to recover it back,

No, when you lost your bitcoins, total number of bitcoins reduce and no one can back your bitcoins.
last two years a few people only loss them bitcoins

not true, the number of circulating coins might decrease but the number of bitcoins will never change. it is steady at 21 million whether you have your coins or not only effects the circulation.

We can't find the bitcoin that have been lost or we can't refunt it. Why?
Because bitcoin have only a finite supply.

Over time, fewer of these currencies are lost and therefore we may have about 18 million currencies instead of 21 million.
The problem is that you cannot know that these currencies have been lost as people can lie and say they lost the private key.

We can recover lost coins if hardfork happens to the network.
