for what its worth, 2 vega plus cpu gives me just over 5000H/s on average at the pool.
I get about 1000 ETN a week plus or minus a few. (sometimes XMR)
In mid Jan ETN was over 15c, now it is 5c so I'm getting on paper about $200pm now but can be as high as $600 if the price is right
I'm not selling now since I don't have to, but when I do I will trade for ether like I did before

If you are using it for what it is intended, then it can't be mining during that time.  IMHO, ROI will be measured in 10's of months for that rig if you use it as intended a few hours a day.

Going back to your question. People just tired to see similar post. If you ever will mine, you probably would see similar post on daily basis.

ATM mining is not very profitable due to:
1) Market all down
2) Hardware all way up

Best advise is to wait, and use profit calc to see estimates.

no worries, I'm mining as a hobby, r&d etc but planning on using my kit for multiple other things. I started just under a year ago and if I'd listened to the advice I wouldn't have started ethereum mining as the general internet advice was mining was dead. I did mine and I didn't sell when everyone said sell at at various 'bubble levels' and at the peak last month I was in second hand lambo territory. Ask advice but no one really knows what the future holds (I pay cash for kit though, no credit). Looking for $2.7k ether target by end of year

I build my custom computers to last 10+ years for my graphic rendering and 4k video editing/blending. So, while they are “overkill” to many of these “full of themselves” individuals that can’t read, I said removing all market movement and volatility could the rig turn a profit? Again, these tools think I’m here to make money/living off this stuff. I’m just looking to possibly recoupe some of my expenses on a system that I’m building regardless of mining.

I get what you are saying, I have a similar setup using x399 and threadripper with 3 vega frontier of which I have 2 running and 64gb ram, I'm waiting on my openloop water cooling to be delivered and I'll add the third card. I already made a good profit on etherium to cover my fantasy computing needs many times over. I don't rely on mining for a living and my kit is tax deductable, I'm well paid so my rig is for mining and other compute hobbies, R&D etc. I mine cryptonight coins and yes you can make cash that will offset your costs although it will take many months  but it depends on current prices which are lower than they were at the moment. If you treat it like a hobby then go for it, may make a few $K pa, will it make you rich, not unless you embark on a ultra high risk mining and trading strategy

Drop that stupid motherboard and cpu combo and get something for less than $200
1 x 120gb SSD will suffice
4 x 1080ti will need at least 1200w, probably nearer 1400-1500w PSU requirements.

It might pay for a few meals per week, but the ROI on a system that god-like would be a long time. Have a look below, i've put in your cards (generally) and the highest estimated electricity costs you'd mentioned, you'll be able to see an estimate per day etc.

Here is a piece of advice:  Build your rig and if you still have questions come back and ask.  Since mining will be an afterthought it seems like you will be getting this rig regardless of its profitable or not.  Either way the question is dumb.  Its like me saying I need to buy a new car and then asking if it will be profitable for me to drive for Uber.  Not to mention you list off the most expensive components which make no sense.  Who the fuck needs 4 gtx 1080tis for graphic design?  This honestly sounds like another tire kicking window shopper stopping by to rattle off the specs to his $6000 rig which he hasn't built yet but needs this info.

No one can tell you for sure what's going to happen with cryptocurrency !
No one can tell you it's going to be profitable for you or not !
No one can tell you how much profit you going to be able to make ! ( if you can make any at all )
No one can tell you the ROI ( return of investment) time !
None of those calculators you are seeing on the web can tell you what's coming tomorrow , months later or 6 months later !
Those calculators telling you about today , at that moment when you typing in your information !
None of those online calculators calculating pool luck !
None of those online calculators able to predict difficulty growth !
None of those online calculators can predict what would be the coin/$ exchanges rates tomorrow , months later or 6 months later a year later !

If you done any research , you must to know , no one can tell you how much money you can make or can not make with your mining rig in the next few weeks , months , year !!!

Yes this forum can be helpful for a lot of peolpe  , with serious questions , troubleshooting problems , advice how to set up they rigs , what rated psu they need to use and ........

But when you "wondering if your rig would be “profitable " , you should look on the internet for some modern age Nostradamus, fortune-teller or wise woman they can give you better predictions whats going to happen with the "cryptocurrency word" in  2018

Can't help you much on GPU mining Scott as I'm more into the ASIC race.
But go for it.  I have friends who screw the costs and just mine to accumulate for the long term.

Got ya on the ASCI, didn’t realize it didn’t run GPU’s anymore on Litecoin. That cleared up that question. *Thumb Up* thank you for the help there...

All you had to say was “Sorry dude, as nice as your rig may be, it won’t work to mine Litecoin.” (That would have ended the convo and I would have been satisfied knowing that I couldn’t mine with mu custom rig and would have been happy to look at a side-line, already built system that I could use as a potential “side investment”.)

Also...Ever think about the fact that we HAVE done research? How do you think myself and others came across this forum??

I have read DOZENS upon DOZENS of web pages and watched DOZENS of DOZENS of long and complicated YouTube videos...done a virtual never ending search of how to get Hashrates from devices and to get a full proper comparison to even see if its still viable to enter into mining or if its worthless at this point.

Then we come to places like this to get feedback from those that could help us cut through all the BS and unlimited GARBAGE on the web...and we get flack for asking for help.

Taking volatility out of the marketplace....assuming that market stability were there and say Litecoin stayed at $140 per coin. Could my rig hit a high enough Hashrate to make the electricity consumption worth the usage and still return a profit?

I guess that’s my question.

What you choose to do after paying back your initial investment is, of course, up to you. The question is if you will recoup the cost of your rig in a reasonable period of time (or at all). The estimates for getting another rig (from scratch) at current exchange rates and hardware costs (for most of us, at least) are not encouraging, but it is largely a guessing game, regardless.

Oops. Forgot to mention that. My electricity runs between $0.09 to $0.11 per /kWh.

I also want to reiterate that I’m not building this rig solely for mining, but wouldn’t mind using it for mining if I could recoupe the cost of my rig.

In other words...use mining to pay for the rig then use it for graphics design and video editing like I was intending on using it for.

Litecoin is not a good choice for general computing devices. Scrypt coins are now dominated by dedicated devices, or ASICs. Those graphics cards could be good for mining equihash coins. (Also look into neoscrypt coins and some others that the 1080ti works well for, if you're set on the 1080ti.)

Expected profitability depends on your electricity rate. Actual profitability varies based on coin value and mining difficulty, which, for short-term quantitative estimates, we will not predict on your behalf (or if anyone does, take that with a grain of salt).

However, to answer the simple question of whether or not you'd come out at a net loss after electricity, unless you have an outrageous electricity rate, I am quite confident that your 4x 1080ti rig would earn more than you'd pay for power. (Do ensure that your PSU and liquid cooling setup can handle all 4 under load 24/7.)

BUT, since you're putting it together from scratch, you had best think carefully about whether or not the initial costs are worth it. I would not recommend building a brand new rig at this time, unless component prices somehow aren't absurdly high for you.

In short, consider how much you'd be willing to pay for a system such as that, if mining didn't exist. (I.e. what value do you attach to that sort of system, if it had no means to pay for itself over time.) Then take that amount, and subtract it from the actual total cost of the components. This difference is the remainder that you'd want to make up by mining, before getting what you'd consider a "good deal" on a PC to serve other purposes (note you may also consider the resale value of some components, for example, for gaming, you would rarely make use of the power of 4x 1080ti GPUs in SLI, since SLI with more than 2 cards tends to be especially unstable and improvements are only diminishing returns).
Use the final cost difference to determine your expected "ROI" time, and use that as one factor to guide your judgment.

Hello. I’m new to the Crypto Curency realm and wanted to know if my rig would be profitable in mining Crypto’s like Litecoin or others.

My rig is (or will be once I build it for personal use and to use for mining as well) as follows:

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Zenith Extreme sTR4 AMD X399 SATA 6Gb/s
GFX Cards: (x4) EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid 11GB GDDR5X (Liquid Cooled)
CPU: AMD RYZEN Threadripper 1920X 12-Core/24 Threads 3.5 GHz, 180W
RAM: G. SKILL Trident Z RBG Series 128 GB (8 x 16 GB)

I am wondering if my rig would be “profitable”? I’m not building it solely for mining, but if it would turn a good profit over time...I may let it run as one to at least pay off my initial expenses of building it...then I could use it for personal use once I recoupe my initial investment per-say.

Thoughts on how this system would do??
