Ah I used 1 weeks signature campaign reward to register a domain and hosting.
I was able to pay with Bitcoin direct and didnt have to provide or verify any
personal information other than an e-mail.

I'm now learning web design and SEO (basic) so its all good. The more people who
host the Whitepaper and node software the harder it will be to attack everyone.

Services used for anyone interested in doing the same:

Very good! I see you didnt list the nakamotoinstitute site, also Michael Saylor's Microstrategy
is hosting the whitepaper

https://www.microstrategy.com/en/bitcoin/documents/bitcoin-a-peer-to-peer-electronic-cash-system

This coindesk article from January this year lists a few more sites hosting it too.

https://www.coindesk.com/why-everyone-from-square-to-facebook-is-now-hosting-the-bitcoin-white-paper

I am working on a basic site to host the whitepaper and code and will list all the links too.

I scraped all the links from the coindesk article, but I'll add entries for both nakamotoinstitute and Microstrategy.

Use Github Pages for hosting. Not only is it free, but they give you a .github.io domain which has a lot of domain authority and thus will rank higher on google, unlike my on domain.

It's done!! We now have a page with various links to the bitcoin whitepaper and Bitcoin Core. https://notatether.com/download-bitcoin-whitepaper/

Since it's a page with a prominent link in the footer, and not a post, this can gain more traction as I get more site traffic.

So as per Greg's suggestion on the other thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.57348503,
are people going to notify "Ontier" that they are hosting the Bitcoin Whitepaper and software
or are you all going to leave it and let them find you eventually?

I ask this because I'm in the process of hosting the articles as anonymously as I can
and dont want to bother with notification.

I'm definitely not in a position to take a lawsuit so I won't be messing with that.

My plan is to gather all these links, and I think I have most of them that I'll ever find, make a publication about it, and then get it republished on other sites. I don't know how I will do the latter, but I could use this service except it only publishes to their social media channels.

I was wondering in gmaxwell's thread about other ways to host and share the whitepaper, and was thinking about hosting it on the blockchain itself using OP_RETURN outputs. Then I remembered reading about something along those lines previously, and looked it up. Turns out the whitepaper has been imbedded in to a transaction mined backed in 2013, by using the ScriptPubKey field of that transaction's outputs. Thought I would share it here for anyone else who wasn't aware of it.

Here is the transaction in question: https://mempool.space/tx/54e48e5f5c656b26c3bca14a8c95aa583d07ebe84dde3b7dd4a78f4e4186e713

Here are a couple of links explaining how it is encoded and how to extract it:

And since they got merged from various other users' branches, if you really want to, you can also find and add those.

This isn't enough to make a revelation, I need more links churning in guys.

Also internet archive may have various backups, if that counts  Wink

I'm not sure if github and archive.org links will help make a point that they are endorsing Bitcoin Core by hosting the whitepaper, especially Archive.org which is just a snapshot of other sites. I'm looking for full-fledged sites because these can make a point that the business entity behind them refutes CSW's passing the whitepaper as BSV material.

~

Some links I already have but I will certainly check out that list.

Here's an older thread of mine. Feel free to copy paste.

"The Streisand effect is a social phenomenon that occurs when an attempt to hide, remove, or censor information has the unintended consequence of further publicizing that information, often via the Internet." - Wikipedia

Since Faketoshi and his friend Scamvin Ayre sent a copyright infringement letter to Bitcoin Core, jokes on them, the Bitcoin Whitepaper is now hosted on far more websites than ever before.

and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

"A lone hornet doesn't stand a chance against a predator.
A swarm of cyber hornets can defend against anything." - Jameson Lopp

Go fuck yourself, Faketoshi.

This isn't enough to make a revelation, I need more links churning in guys.

I have something to add.

There are different versions of the Bitcoin whitepaper, all written by satoshi Nakamoto.

There currently 3 whitepaper versions

You can find more details in here:

From a historical point of view, the "ecash.pdf" file is older than the "bitcoin.pdf".

Actually, we can't be sure of the text inside. Because this is not an original.

BUT!!! I have a good new. I found a october 3, 2008 version! The one i was searching for! (but an original ecash.pdf can be older)

HERE is the rare 2008 version : https://www.gwern.net/docs/bitcoin/20081003-nakamoto-bitcoindraft.pdf

After a quick study, i can tell u there is small but existing differences in the text, between 2008 and 2009 documents.

And in the structure, 2008 pdf was created on a UNIX system, and the 2009, on a Mac. Interesting!

You really found something interesting.

-snip-

For now, we have 3 whitepapers:

https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf (newer file, from 2009)
https://www.gwern.net/docs/bitcoin/20081003-nakamoto-bitcoindraft.pdf (2008 original Whitepaper)
https://draftable.com/compare/rCuIgdwzImUI (presumed edited ecash whitepaper from 2017)

2 main questions remains:
-Where is the original Ecash file from 2008?

Later on Belisarius found the original ecash, from the link I posted in the beginning of the topic:
Finally!

The day of the 12th Genesis block Birthday, I received my holy grail by email : a copy of the missing Ecash white paper!

To be honest, I don't know if I can trust 100% this is the real one, but it looks Legit.

From discussion in another thread:

then post it in our respective websites just to annoy CSW,
Make sure you post it alongside your choice of Bitcoin node software (e.g. bitcoin core, btcd, libbitcoin, etc) or more than one.  When people started posting the whitepaper previously wright tried to deflect the loss of face by saying that these people were really endorsing has scam bitcoin clone.  By posting it along with a node software mirror (ideally source code, since that's what people need to maintain their own copy) you will refute his deflection and protect the availability of the most important parts of the system.

This is a great idea. if I can produce an article containing everybody's own links to the Bitcoin whitepaper, along with links to Bitcoin Core, then Craig (and his comrade Calvin Ayre) can't say they're all endorsing his BSV trash and I get more reach than a bunch of ordinary posts on Bitcointalk. Then this stuff will get republished on major news sites and there will be more refutation against CSW.

Links to translations in other languages are welcome too!
