I think most of them have already answered your question regarding topic that could not allow others to reply.

Why don't you try it with this one? Try to lock this topic as it satisfies its purpose of locking the topic when your question is already answered. Just want to say this, just make sure we use these function if necessary because when we post a good topic, I advise not locking it as the main purpose of forum is to collaborate ideas with other members, mainly locking the topic will restrict this essential forum characteristic.

Is there any way we can create a thread where nobody can reply.

Yes, get me to start it for you. There's a decent chance of no replies...  Wink

It seems like the OP has gotten many answers from the questions he asked.
so far the OP has not yet responded to the response from each member.

is this just a question which is then left just like that by the OP. Huh

Is there any way we can create a thread where nobody can reply. like there are videos of YouTube where nobody can comment.

Are you talking about unlisted youtube videos that are only available to you or those you send the direct url to or videos where nobody can comment as the comments are turned off? We'll need to know the specifics of why you want to do this before you can get a relevant answer. As people have said, you can create a thread and then just lock it so nobody can comment, but if you want a thread somewhere that's not published and only you can see it you can keep one in your drafts by hitting the preview button instead of post. That way if you keep it open in your browser you can keep adding to it and it will still be saved in your drafts if you need it. Just keep hitting preview to save additional versions.

first choose moderated.

then lock thread and unlock when you want.

if it is unlocked someone can write bs and it is there never to be removed.

if you moderate it and lock and unlock it you pretty much have the most controls over the thread.

some may not like you if you do it  as a newbie and are trying to sell something.

if you are a newbie just moderate it until you rank up and have some trust.
That sounds handy, thanks for the info I had no idea one could unlock a thread as long as its not self-moderated.
WIll eventualy merit you.

Is it hidden? I think it just floats, its order decreases until we can't find it, there are thousands of such posts, without interaction, it will be drifted, but never lost.

He prolly means 'hidden' as not showing on the first (or X) pages of the thread list.

Threads, without replies (and are not pinned ones) will be gradually decreased in display positions. The default display position is based on newest replies and / or bump score (depends on which boards, only 4 boards for now have bump score applied by default). Without replies/ bump (only 1 time per 24 hours), your thread will be hidden, and no one from the community will see them, after several weeks.

Whenever there is a new post on a topic, it will rise, which is why some signature campaigns, though very old, do not accept new people, but still emerge on top with new applications  Roll Eyes

There are solutions (already mentioned above):
- Self-moderated threads: to avoid spams (by deleting them).
- Lock threads after creating them (then unlock when you want to edit or update).
If I was you, I would go to self-moderated threads because it is a dead thread when I lock it.

Besides that, I have one more for you:

Threads, without replies (and are not pinned ones) will be gradually decreased in display positions. The default display position is based on newest replies and / or bump score (depends on which boards, only 4 boards for now have bump score applied by default). Without replies/ bump (only 1 time per 24 hours), your thread will be hidden, and no one from the community will see them, after several weeks.

And most of boards or child boards on the forum are crowded and actively, despite of some local boards.

As has already been said, it works. Maybe self-moderated is an option for you!? Smiley

Basically possible but only makes sense if you have a FAQ or pinned message. Otherwise the thread will be gone soon without new replies that bump it.

Edit: Well, user below is right, but you won't be able to post, edit or otherwise unlock the thread after.

Yeap, technically you won't be able to, but OP can simply unlock the thread, make an additional post, and simply re-lock the thread immediately.

Yes, you can. When you're making a new topic, scroll down to additional options and then tick the Lock topic checkbox. After posting, your topic will be locked, and no one will be able to comment.

That would be a waste of space on the DB, just as posts without an actual purpose but generatic posts for tards that want to grow their account like that or bad signature campaingneers.

Answer is no and I highly doubt anything like that will be ever implemented.

Edit: Well, user below is right, but you won't be able to post, edit or otherwise unlock the thread after.
Edit2: I wrote that because I tried before and it never let me unlock the thread, but its probably my poor attention that made me ignore the unlock.
