What I can't understand is why all these designers design something so small, knowing that external add-ons will be necessary for any function at all. 1 USB port? Going to need a hub if you want to connect a keyboard AND a mouse (or FPGA, or whatever).

Pretty damn cool though, efficient use of space with the HDMI port.

$199 seems overpriced to me.

For the video drivers.

to do what?

FMV at 1080p is just shoving a bitstream at the gpu as fast as necessary. The VideoCore processor GPU that's built into the CPU die does the rest... a 256mb raspberry Pi can do this with ease. as can the FXI listed above - search this weeks engadget.com for a video taken at the mobile world conference.

These devices are more than capable of running a mining farm. All they need to is getwork to a mining pool, and parcel out the nonce range across the systems in the farm.

1 GB Ram = inadequate?

Edit:  Very cool, though.

inadequate for what? I don't think you comprehend just how much power that is.

See also http://www.solid-run.com/ for a cubox at 135USD, 99EUR.

I'm not going to do this because I don't want to spend anymore money on hardware.

I found an announcement for a thumbdrive sized computer.  It has a 1. GHz ARM CPU, 1GB RAM, and hdmi port on one side and a usb port on the other from which it is powered.  It has wifi and bluetooth for internet, keyboard and mouse.  It can run Android, Ice Cream Sandwich or Ubuntu.  It cost $199.

Seems like a cool idea for a control computer for mining.  It's cheap and probably very low power.

Anyone willing to try it?

Sam
