These things have gotten more sophisticated since I last looked into this
These are all enclosures now. I remember seeing a minimalistic one in a video before that cost less
Something to consider in your cost of a new computer is that I also need a good cooling case or a mining bench. I am not loaded on GPU's enough to utilize a dedicated mining rig and if I did that I would likely convert this random HP with a micro ATX board to do 3 GPU's and go with something dense GPU wise
The thunderbolt idea, I was intending to have a GPU running on open air rather than choked in an enclosure

I am wondering if anybody has tried using a thunderbolt GPU adaptor on a labtop for mining
I am thinking of buying one for the few times I would use my labtop to game and I could possibly mine with it which is an interesting prospect. I have no idea how the miner will recognize the GPU through thunderbolt. I am willing to be the test dummy to figure out if this works but if there is anybody who would help me figure out the miner configuration it would be greatly appreciated
To my knowledge, the device connects through thunderbolt and has some wire space for the PCIe x16 stand and the device has its own separate power source
