I just spoke with Tilera and they said it would take one thousand of their chips to compete with sha256 hashing solutions in the marketplace.  I'm looking at other manufacturers now.  If you have any advice please post here:

OP please consider locking this thread as I have completed the research and re-confirmed the previous answer.  Tilera does not make a solution to the sha256 hashing problem.  April 19, 2013.

Ok it is double that, or quadruple that.  Doesn't really matter when there are 60GH/s ASICs being sold right.  The answer is probably correct on an order of magnitude.  A faster version isn't going to change much, it would need to be many magnitudes faster which simply isn't going to happen.

If you feel it has promise, buy one and find out.   IIRC those processors run like $1K each.  That is the raw chip so at best you are looking at a price point comparable to BFL Single SC.  You aren't going to magic 60GH/s out of 64 general purpose cores running at 800Mhz.

So appyling (the Internets flawed interpretation of) Moore's law the speed is now 128 MH/s. Doesn't really help now, does it?

64 M/Hs for the whole thing. It's just a bunch of CPU cores.

Not me - but i am doing a little research into maybe trying a test now...

Don't bother. Someone did the math some years ago and it came out to 64 MH/s or something.
