Hi guys,

So i have two big BTC transactions pending unconfirmed for almost 3 days now! I know the market is going crazy and the number of unconfirmed transactions in the mem pool is huge on such a slow dinosaur of a blockchain.

I was wondering, for how long can a transaction stays like this unconfirmed before it gets deleted from the mempool? i need my BTC but i am unable to do anything because they are unsusable and cannot use the double spend technique (i use ledger nano S). Feeling paralysed Sad

Any input would be much appreciated. Just need to know how much more do i need to wait before i can use my coins again.

You can go to services here in the forum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0

In some threads you can speed up your transaction. Had the same problem days ago. There i found one who helps me. Maybe you have the same luck. Smiley

thanks for your reply.

I don't know whats a CPFP. i made two transactions form my ledger nano s to my address in binance exchange.

so my worries that my bitcoin remain forever stuck in the mempool is not justified? eventually it will be either dropped or confirmed, it cannot stay like this in limbo..right?

CPFP: Child pays for parent
Quote
Child pays for parent means, as the name implies, that spending an unconfirmed transaction will cause miners to consider confirming the parent transaction in order to get the fees from the child transaction included in the same block.

When I first looked at your tx I had the impression you tried that, probably I'm too tired right now and have mistaken the addresses when looking at them.

But you're right, transactions can't stay in limbo forever, it's confirmed or dropped, black or white.

I might be mistaken but you tried a CPFP transaction there?
With the second fee, it should be confirmed in one two days I assume....guess...nobody really knows.

I've seen a few transactions in the mempool that are over 7 days old.
Yours is "just" two days old.
Probably with the x-mas coming and a long weekend the mempool will clear.

And transactions are not dropped at a certain time and after x days.
It's when each node starts purging old transactions or low fee tx or they just run out of memory.
