My bet's going to elon musk. There are these politicians, religious leaders, celebrities, sportspeople but i think musk's dedication along with his company, towards the betterment of the environment made him earn at least to be considered in this list. Throwing patents aside so other companies can emulate tesla's nature friendly tech is something i would take my hat off to.

That is very interesting. I hope you win! Here's a brief breakdown.

Elon Musk. I don't think he will win. His company Space X achieved much more than NASA despite having near to one hundred times a smaller budget than NASA. Elon Musk's accomplishments in aerospace embarrass socialist, state run, programs like NASA and there is a chance his rocket launches are being sabotaged as a result.

Emmanuel Macron. Publicly he states he will close borders and reduce illegal immigration. Politicians often have a bad habit of doing the opposite of what they say they will do. I think Macron could win the award to reinforce the potentially false notion that european politicians will follow through on border reform/immigration.

Angela Merkel. She is just like Macron imo. Only less popular as she was in office while many of the things the public are unhappy about occurred. She has done some good in terms of standing up to USA surveillance policies.

Donald Trump. The people that own the media appear to hate him. I doubt he'll win anything.

Pope Francis. This Pope is head of the catholic church in an era when it is experiencing its largest and most public problems with pedophiles and child molestors. I don't think he should win anything but I don't say who wins the award.

There are other options like Justin Trudeau who is a media darling. Also there is a chance that they will give the award to someone who represents islam like Sadiq Khan, someone who represents LGBT's or transgenderism.

The favorite right now is by betting against these 5 people which is the "Other". I saw a poll result from the time's website and all of the 5 people listed are not getting a lot of votes but it's just a poll though. The votes were mostly on the defense minister of Saudi Arabia (23% of votes). Those 5 people listed had 3% below and Angela Merkel is the one leading if the others were not included.

Are there any standard or criteria on choosing Time Person of the Year? Really don't have an idea about the award criteria.

There are candidates in the past who gained higher % of votes on online poll but never been awarded. Despite popularity still not enough. Really confused now and Im tempted to bet at those with higher odds. But for the record, there is no person yet who received the award more than once.

This is from last year: http://time.com/time-person-of-the-year-2016-donald-trump-choice/

Quote
"we have named the person who had the greatest influence, for better or worse, on the events of the year."

I would pick someone who had great influence or made something that called everyone's attention. However I think 2017 was a tepid year from "person of year" point of view. There isn't an outstanding person. And as ralle14 said those aren't the favorites, it becomes even harder to bet.  Cheesy

If anyone missed out on betting on onehash (since there are still a few days left until the result), there's still a market on fairlay whose prices are based on pinnacle, though most of the odds are pretty bad compared to other fiat sportsbooks.

The only bet that's worth imo would be #MeToo (the viral hashtag used in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein allegations) @ 2.52

Anyways if you really want to placed a bet, you can do it without registration. Just used their Individual Betting option wherein you will be asked for your bitcoin address as your receiving address when you win and a deposit address. Same way like Directbet no registration betting. Just leave email address for reference.
I would like to deposit bitcoin in my account to bet on future too and save transactions fees when placing individual bets.

Finally registered without solving recaptcha  Grin

This bet is already over will make bets in future when there will be some interesting one.

Interesting to read about this here when I just recently read about President Donald Trump just said he declined Time Magizine's nomination for the Person of the Year. But really, Time never did accept the decline since they said there was no list yet and there is no guarantee that the President was on the new list. I guess, Trump was just being cocky by declining something that has not been offered. But, I'll be sure to what this betting event.

Are these 5 people the favorites?

Well, for me Donald Trump was the person of the year: Authentic, fought against estabilishment without many allies, put the fake news on their respective place and although we hear 24/7 journalists saying negative things about him and USA, his popularity is fine and he is decreasing the unemployment rates.

But I don't think they would let him win this year, as he had already won last year. I would bet in Pope Francis. Among all the other globalists he is in better conditions... Others were a disaster dealing with terrorism on their countries.

Trying to make bet on this one by registering first but I find those multi step recaptcha verification quite hard to go through. Tried several times but couldn't go through it and finally opt out of registering an account in onehash.

Remove those useless multi step verification, one puzzle would be enough and easy to solve.

Test the registration and those captcha about pick images have a slight problem. So I changed it to the pick a certain subject until no images left. Overall it goes smooth.

This is interesting, I've not seen a gambling site offer odds for this type of event yet or probably I've missed it in the past few years. I think it would really be hard to determine the candidates and the odds of each one to win, so it would be really hard to create the list for the gambling sites. But yeah, it would be an interesting event to bet on, though I don't know if there would be much people betting on it.

I will definitely betting on it because I have one person in my mind that has a good chance of winning it. He/She is very controversial and his policies as well. But his people love him so much. I'm haven't seen any gambling site offering this kind of event. But it's gonna be interesting not just to bet but who will actually get the coveted award.
