I buy Namecoins with every Bitcoin / Altcoin I earn Smiley

I do the same thing. Currently have over 3k, which i think is a decent amount considering i only have about 1.2 GH/s and have never bought BTC.

Interesting.  Since you buy NMC w/ BTC I assume that means you feel NMC are worth more than their price in BTC.  Right? Interested to here your reasoning (I think I have an idea).

Same reason people like BTC over normal currency, to much governmental control...

I like namecoin, is the alt currency that tried to give something. I hope it will be adopted on large scale.

Once it gets to 1 NMC per domain, I'm gonna open up some businesses

Sadly it does nothing about domain trolling.

You could make a coin for that.

I see no workable technical way to prevent domain name squatting in a BitCoin like network or any other peer to peer network. Ultimately the network needs trusted humans to resolve disputes.

Delegating subdomains of .bit to official company registries might work but it would require a geographical split in there as there is no single worldwide company register that I'm aware of. Then you have to trust whoever is doing the delegating not to change things or you need immutable entries.

It gets messy.

lolol you could call it antisquatcoin.

Seriously though, all the big brand names are already squatted on Namecoin, so it is perfect for people who want to engage in phishing scams, since there's no way to close down an illegal domain...

"Oh look, I'm on BankofAmerica.bit, sure looks legit to me..." *Enters username and password* Oh noes!
that's exactly the point of namecoin, nobody can take your domain away

never heard of ICANN till now... you have successfully scared me into buy a couple hundred NMC.

NameCoin is a solution to one of the biggest problems the current Internet has, the current DNS setup sucks. There have been attacks in the past where all the root nameservers except one have been dossed, it's possible a repeat attack could take the lot offline. The US government takes generic domains down whenever it feels like it. Other countries take down domains under their country code domains whenever big business prods their various legal systems into action.

NameCoin doesn't fix all the problems but it does decentralize away from political organizations and into the hands of those who should be running the Internet. Sadly it does nothing about domain trolling.

Does a pretty good piece on both name and bit coin. Nmc hasn't had much noteworthy press in a fairly long time so me thinks this'll be good for Nmc and BTC.
