People can just send coins to themselves to avoid a deadline. Also it seems like the name Timecoin or variants of it are quite popular around here.

Better use another name, because a cryptocurrency called Timekoin exists.

Friecoin already kind of does this with built in demurrage. I don't think many people want to deal in an evaporating currency, hence everyone selling fiat for crypto.

Most of us are here for a quick buck. It won't work for investors as well.
When I say investors,I'm talking about wall street for the crypto the coin that stands above others when the time comes.

How about a coin that disappears if it is not spent after a certain amount of time.

This would encourage transactional use of the coin instead of hoarding.
