Is this Tips as in Tips that help you learn or Tips as in Tips that you give a bus boy or stripper?

I hope it is the latter. Would be nice to get some BTC tips around here. Address below =)

I've been known to give just the tip from time to time.

is this mining tips for newbs or just random tips for ppl new to bitcoin?    the first tip i would give is that even GPU mining is no longer profitible to invest in.   And also the first tip noobs should know is to keep your wallet.dat backed up, encrypted and off your virus plagued windows box or all other tips don't really matter when your security is comprimised.

So these are tips for newbies attempting running bitcoin mining rigs? Here's a tip: If you're a newbie fresh out the gate, learn more about bitcoin and the bitcoin economy before attempting to mine. Mining requires a major capital investment, not to mention, major ongoing expenses.

windows people : use guiminer Smiley

nvidia users : update your gfx drivers to the latest version to get openCL support. (if your card supports it, that is)

My CPU gives me a speed of ~3 mhash/sec whereas my GPU gives me ~45 mhash/sec.

2. With the current difficulty level you will actually loose money instead of earn if you try to calculate hashes using only the CPU.

Let's post some tips that all newbs should know before wasting money.

1. Using your CPU uses at least 10 times more energy than a GPU for the same amount of hashes.
