Keep watch of the forums. Always keep an eye on the more popular coin threads. If you find out a popular coin is about to be listed on an exchange, chances are prices will go up. Don't necessarily think more is better. 500 of a 20 mill circulation coin is often better than 500k of a 200 billion one. Obviously weigh that against the interest of the coin, but do take into account how difficult the coin is to mine as well, this is a handy indicator. As a trader difficulty levels probably won't mean a great deal, but if you can learn to understand them, that helps as well.

As for the trading section; don't be afraid to negotiate.

Best of luck to you.

Don't panic.
Don't sell for less than you paid.
Don't feel the need to trade every day. Some days the market just isn't good.

it's not 'only' about the community either.

I consider technicals more important.
Imagine a defunct but hyped-up coin.
Hype is not all. 'Community' can always grow with a good product.

Uno and datacoin could be good bets too. Both relatively new coins with good technicals i think. Look at qrk, ppc, nmc and xpm - success by design. I bought some fst lately for that matter.

People will still accept xpm when doge is long forgotten Wink

Do lots of research.
Look at the price per coin, not just market cap.
Buy on the fall, sell on the rise.
Avoid PoW coins with a big pre-mine.
Look for coins with a serious community behind them. Forum with 10 threads is a bad sign.....

And:

Don't panic......

So I know a lot of people here are into trading alts for profit and I myself have before without much success. Does anyone have any tipss for small time traders? (0.1 btc to start with) Just looking around on cryptsy for trading ideas ALF looks pretty good as it doesnt have many sell walls. Is this a good spot to start trading?
