Wanted to update - I've recieved 0.4715037BTC in tips, which is about $66.01 in the last 12 hours.  I spoke with the publisher of the site and he said that was about four days worth of advertising revenue in 12 hours, and from one story.  I think he's going to start embedding tip jars in all his articles because even if he just gets .1btc for every 10 stories he posts, it's still an extra revenue stream that didn't previously exist.

I think this could work, and I really wanted to thank those who donated and helped me prove my point - This could be huge for adoption is tip jars started popping up all over the internet, even if you just donate .01 or .001 it adds up

what utter bull

So you're not planning on supporting startups if you become a mufti-millionaire through buying bitcoins early?   Not sure which part you're saying is bull?

I really like this article.  Don't take the small errors seriously.

The default fee is 0.0005 btc right now.
Some time you can clear transactions in less than an hour.
Tip jar is cool, and Litecoin tip jar would be even better  Grin (that's not an error)
I agree, Derivatives led to too much risk for big banks, CDS, and all their greed let to everyones demise.
I agree, A lot of gold is just promises on pieces of paper.

Given it's 4300 words long I'm surprised you didn't find more you disagreed with just on principal, that seems more like agreement and compliment than critique.

On the transaction fee, if that's true than I am indeed wrong - I guess I haven't updated my client, when was it changed?

I did not make the tip jar, a random developer on reddit did.  I encourage as many people to make competing ones as possible so we can have some really badass, modular tip jar options to choose from.  If we make it easy to accept tips, EVERYBODY is going to accept tips.

By the way, I'm up to 5 tips totaling .15 and change, including one .01337 which made me laugh.  It's like getting a tip and a compliment at the same time.  Thanks to everybody, I welcome suggestions for improvement as I'm still quite new and finding my voice.

Nicely done!

I love the Bitcoin tip jar example for content creators. More examples like this will open people's eyes to the possibilities.

Thanks, that's really what I'm trying to do - Help people think about this abstract thing in a way that could really impact all our lives.

Also, you can check out the working Bitcoin tip jar here - it'll be embedded at the end of the print article, i'll let you know if I get anything Smiley

TL:DR
Thesis: We are entering a new golden age of philanthropy

Premise 1 - Bitcoin is not in a bubble, it is correcting upward to reflect its intrinsic usefulness relative to the increased interest in keeping money and the economy in the hands of the people.

Premise 2 - If Bitcoin sees any sort of mass adoption, the price will increase hugely.

Premise 3 - Early Adopters to bitcoin will become the distributed benefactors of a new renaissance.

Conclusion:
We are entering a time when anything is possible, and where the funds to achieve your dream might just be a blog post with embedded tip jar away.

Hi everybody,
I wrote an article for endthelie.com on the topic of bitcoin, and it wound up being quite the a project.  The article is now available, but I also record all my articles as "read by the author" (all errors edited out, plus a clip from an interview)  if you'd enjoy that sort of thing.

I thought it might be something people would want to share with friends or family new to Bitcoin who would like to understand it, and it's potential a little better.

The audio is available here https://soundcloud.com/mindtomatter/the-new-renaissance-how
and available under an open source license, free to clip, mix, edit, reuse, whatever, even for commercial purposes - I just ask that you credit me (Adam B. Levine, mindtomatter.org) and let me know where you've used it.

You can read the print version here

If you enjoy the article and are a reddit inhabitant, please upvote it to help me break through the noise

Happy to answer any questions and receive any comments, thank!
