It is my opinion, if you are thinking of using a video card to do mining with, it is no longer a good investment unless your electricity is free. The difficulty to create new bitcoins has increased dramatically since the introduction of specialized ASIC (Application-specific integrated circuit) mining hardware and it would take forever to make any profit. You could invest in ASIC hardware. A power computer is no longer needed. There are some nice USB miners out now that are good for people getting there feet wet without the need to make a plunge. Search for ASICMiner Block Erupter USB on eBay. Good luck with your mining.

I was curious anyone's thoughts on whether or not to purchase Bitcoin's or to build your own mining computer.

My thoughts off the bat are to continue to purchase as we continue to see Bitcoin's dropping.. however I do think there is some interest to build by own mining computer. The later seems a little more difficult as it seems everyone has an opinion on what to build and the return on your initial investment could either take a while or just not be worth the effort.

Curious others opinions on what they would do considering seeing Bitcoin's continue to drop in pricing.
