Keep an eye on Open Bazaar  https://openbazaar.org/

I dont see any reason for it to be successful. Marketplace has to be centralized. Else it'll be a scammer's heaven.

I'm not talking about Amazon type wirehouse concept. I'm thinking about a third party model like eBay. As a startup, which carrier would be the most convenient to use to deliver seller's product to buyer ? Or should I leave the delivery headache on seller's head ?

Well, if you're doing an eBay type of thing, the seller would have to ship the goods, wouldn't he? Why would you ship them. Also, remember that there are different carriers all over the world. People would have to use the carriers from their respective country!

Its fine if the seller ships the goods. But how does I track it on the website to release bitcoin to the seller if I cant have any fixed tracker's API ?

I would also like to know how the product delivery tracking was managed in BitMit. Can anyone who used that service tell me ?

How the marketplace owner will come to know whether the seller has sent a brick or a play station 4 ? Buyer may lie as well for a refund. How does eBay type marketplaces decide on this ?

eBay always protects the buyer and trusts what the buyers say.
You may take a look at http://www.theguardian.com/money/2013/oct/27/ebay-wont-help-seller

Is that so straightforward ? Does it mean that if seller's money is stuck at the marketplace and the buyer demands wrong/damaged product delivered, then the money will be refunded to the buyer and seller will be at a loss ?

Generally, unless you can reach an agreement with one like UPS or FedEx to have rates auto-calculated and mailing slips printed for senders, it would be more workable for senders to specify shipping rates, pay for shipping themselves, and submit at least a tracking number to the site. You can also place responsibility more squarely on the sender for not shipping.

Thanks for the quick response. Did not get the bold part. Care to explain ?

Ratings system, I believe. If the seller never ships, he gets dinged. Same thing as the people here who have a negative trust rating. If buyers never receive their merchandise, that seller isn't going to be doing a whole lot of business in the future.

Use escrow for not trusted business. No money while the packet is not sent.

And negative trust him if he sends a brick instead of your play station 4.

Or maybe half before after, and other half after some days without complaints from the customer?
