Hello community here,
I am newbie here and happy to join here.
My ask is what will be your advices about keeping a coin long term ? Which coin is worth for it?
Everyone will suggest you about bitcoin as a first option. Bitcoin is the most popular crypto and it has been adopted widely around the world. From my view bitcoin is the most promising crypto and it is best for long term holding. Besides that you can select some top alts to hold it for long term. You should research it yourself, but don't take the decision without knowing much about the coin properly. Listen to our opinion and research before investing in it.

In my opinion, you can invest on btc eth and bnb for long time without notice. Even you should understand when market gone to cheap then you can buy and hold. If you have small assets then i would suggest for eth and bnb even if you have much asset then you can take some with btc. Although there are many good coin for long time so you can check coinmarketcap for more help.
BTC and top altcoins are the best choices for long-term investment and if you are looking for any project, there is no other project which can be more potent than these cryptocurrencies. That is right there are also some projects, which can be also among the best currencies in the future. However, you should make hard research to find one of the potential currencies. There is less risk in investing in top altcoins than in another.

Maybe everyone has different suggestions and a much different strategy but I prefer to analyze coins that you will hold for a long time. you have to know the benefits of these coins and the team that is there. If you already know it is your choice to believe in the coin. I prefer to know about the active coinage with developments that always come from the ideas of the team. If the team still has ideas and is active in providing information to the investors who have participated in it, it is much better than other coins.
I personally do the same, but mine is much simpler and much easier study. I own the three top coins, btc, eth and bnb as my biggest investment, sure I have some small change in here and there, 80 bucks there 50 bucks here some changes but the reality is that I do not really care about those ones, I only care about the big three.

It means my study and research is not that big, I have been in the crypto world for many years now, before most people came in (and idiot enough to not buy bitcoin at 100-150 dollar levels) that is why I already know that buying bitcoin, ethereum and bnb is not that difficult choice it is definitely easy choice to make for me to buy the same top three things. Maybe one day I will be invested in bigger things, like gold and real estate if I ever own that much money, but I do not see myself buying something like that anytime soon.

Maybe we missed another dip in the altcoins season this week. Now we should wait for the last dip or running situation and also dip in the coinmarketcap. If Bitcoin price is ATH this year, next will not be a good year to hold these top coins. Those ROI are so high now, for a long term high profit chances are low. Maybe OP should research his own ways.

It's true that huge dip is missed ,but looks like, we're going to have another small dip in the upcoming week. So don't miss this small dip to buy more bitcoin or altcoins which are researched for hodling/buying. BTW, bitcoin or ethereum is good for longer period of time. Just think about those who bought bitcoin at $20k back in 2018 and now they're on profit if they hodl their btc or eth in the bear market and till now. So, even if anyone buy btc or eth at the ATH price of this year, they'll sure to be on profits in the upcoming years. That's why btc and eth is good for longer period of time even if anyone buy that in the bull market, just need to hodl until next bull market.  Wink

As a newbie the first thing I would implore you to learn is the risks associated with investing in cryptocurrencies, once you are okay with it then you can take the next step of knowing how to research on projects thus knowing the one to go for and the ones to ignore. With that being said, the only way to know a worthy coin in this current market is through knowing what the utility is all about and how the team intends improving on it to make it attractive all the time, once you find this, the coin in question can be held for long term. That is to say, not all coins are worthy to be held long term. Lastly, the coins i would say are worthy for investing and are also good for long term are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance Coin, Cake.

It is a nice place to learn and to find a helping community.
If you are considering an investment in crypto, you should do your own research and try to avoid being a victim of a pump and dump movement.
The top 100 on Coinmarketcap would be a good start to look into but some of those coins/tokens may trick you so be careful and learn before investing.

Firstly, you should know that majority of the altcoins in the market are just shitcoins and they will most probably be gone at some point. Of course there is no guarantee for the other altcoins to maintain themselves in the market forever. But they are way more credible when it comes to making an investment. And my advices are BNB and ETH for now. They could reach really huge levels compared to their current levels.

if for the long term, how about trying staking? You can multiply your coins or tokens with a profitable process within a certain period. try #cake staking and choose which one you think has the most potential. This method is quite effective because you don't need to worry about sudden price changes, your coins or tokens continue to increase, and can be used to get rewards from other altcoins.

keep coin for the long term is the right choice to invest in cryptocurrency and my advice if you want to invest in cryptocurrency for the long term, then you have to choose the right cryptocurrency, so that the money you invest will not be reduced or lost and coin that I recommend for you to make a long-term investment is :
1. Ethereum (ETH)
2. Binance (BNB)
3. Polkadot (DOT)
4. Uniswap (UNI)
5. Cardano (ADA)

Great sections and for long-term goals those are potentially to increase their value. Choosing project rely with your study and research knowing the factors why certain will success and gathered more support in the long run.

Assess projects according to the value, if project offer good addition to this industry and with how the community support and believe the team behind.

Play with your money wisely, DYOR and keep enhancing your knowledge to your chosen venue of investment.

Only coins you should hold for long term are majors (btc, eth) OR projects you've done your due enquiry on and spent in money you can afford to lose.

Some people made huge amount of money by holding coins they studied thoroughly.

However, doing this without much thought beforehand is like playing the lottery ... Roll Eyes

There is no doubt Bitcoin, ETH, BNB is a good long term investment.  You can also try to look at UTK, ADA, Matic, DOT, Uniswap, Cake and many more.  The second list of token is yet to be pumped hard and has a very promising future.  Their developer is very active and they have their own innovations that they can put on the table.  But a word of advice, never fully trust any suggestion here until you have verified it yourself.

I see this potential in Binance coin (BNB). so if you want to make a long-term investment then I suggest buying BNB.
Yes I agree. BNB must be one of the leading coin on which we can invest with the long term holding plans as there will be less chances for disappointments in any worst case. At the same time I will not stop just with only one coin for long-term holding hence I'm suggesting to go for along with bitcoin investments and that should be planned for at least next 5 to 10 years. I am able to see a good progress growth for the people who are holding bitcoin and BNB for years.

to give the right answer it is very difficult to predict in cryptocurency. but we can see and do research on several altcoins that are able to survive in the market and maintain price stability and have the potential to increase every year. and I see this potential in Binance coin (BNB). so if you want to make a long-term investment then I suggest buying BNB.

BTC. ETH, BNB. TRON are the coins good for long term. but I don't keep coins for long term. I myself is a trader and I believe in increasing the coins by using them in trading and other techniques instead of just hodling them.

Well buying coins for long term is a nice ideal but at the end of the day, it depends on DYOR i believe the first suggestion everyone will be dropping is bitcoin there are also other good coins which can really be a good long term investment. But like i said it all depends of Doing YOR
you are right. bitcoin is the most commonly suggested coin.which is obvious because bitcoin is the best coin out there. in other coins I am very much positive about TRX as I already named it above.

keep your token safe, don't let it happen like I trust my friends too much or send an email that requires claiming a private wallet that other people shouldn't know ...
and the assets that we need to protect in the long term for me are only bitcoin and ethereum because that is the token that I have always known about.

it all depends on your investment goals, if your goal is only for the price issue then I think bitcoin is suitable for you to invest in, but if your goal is to get a lot of profit then you can choose the top coins currently whose price movements are a bit aggressive, such as ETH, BNB, LTC, etc.

if you want to determine what coins will be stored in the long run, you make your own research and look for the top 10 coins that are currently the top, and for sure BITCOIN is the first and then you just look for others.
Why should we? I guess just planning only with bitcoin for long term holding is more than enough for any investor these days. I'm sure no other coin will got power to beat bitcoin in terms of returns for our capital. Moreover I never suggest to refer coinmarketcap for our investment decision making; either do your own research and analysis or simply stick with bitcoins.

OP: Bitcoin is known for safe heaven for investors through its unbeatable returns on every four years. So, if you are able to plan for next four years of holding then you can easily go for bitcoin alone.

I'd suggest those with low marketcap and having DeFi projects like Bakeswap (BAKE), Pancakeswap or SOVRYN (SOV). They are just in their starting phase and lots of improvements are coming. It could probably moonshot your investment by 10x to even 50x.

Bitcoin, ETH, and BNB...
These coins are worth enough to hold for a long-term goal of an investment. You don't go anywhere, you don't need to waste your precious time digging for new projects as those coins that I've mentioned above are proven already in terms of price development and market returns. What next you do is to wait when the market will dump, not this time since the market is in hypes.

Perhaps, I'm preparing for the bear season just to reinvest and then hold until the next ATH.

1. Bitcoin
2. Ethereum
I won't say anything about other coins/tokens since both bitcoin and ethereum is the main thing in crypto world. Both are the best choice for long term and I think it have the lowest risk with massive adoption, high volume and marketcap, tradable in all exchanges in the world, and many advantages.

It will be hard since you will be branded as a shiller here once you post your supported coin.  Grin
Anyway, I don't really care.

Go Ethereum. It looks expensive but who knows if this market pump will keep on.
At $1k, I thought that was it but looking at the price now it might even extend to heights it had never reached yet.
XRP is also a good choice but it has high risks because the case is not over yet. Though, when it wins the value could also soar.
Both are for long term holding if Bitcoin is not your first choice.

For me, investing is the most profitable way to generate great income. And for investing, I choose the Ethereum coin, so I, for my part, think that Ethereum is the most promising coin for getting great income in the future. Since the Ethereum coin is suitable for long-term storage and tremendous benefits. So I advise you to invest in an Ethereum coin. Good luck to all.

Always be careful if you ask those questions in social media and also here in the forums because a lot of people that will tell you to buy this or that project are not telling you this because they believe that these are the best projects but because they own them themself and want to shill their coin.
It's always the best thing to do your own research. Go to coinmarketcap or coingecko and read through the projects that you think are interesting.
If you are planning to hold really long term than of course the big and estblished projects are the probably the safest to invest in like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance, but i guess that is nothing new to you.

Long term coins must not only about prices but how long it can survived too. If want to be safe and not about big profit, take coins from top coinmarketcap list because no matter profit or lossed, your coin will stay in market. What be main problem is only when it's chain is broken and make the coin delisted in a lot of markets.

You have point, the most important thing in each coins is by knowing how stable the coin is because whatever you do, holding long term or short term can both gain profit. That is why it is very important to do some research and follow every updates such as to know the standing of the coin in the market and other thing.

To hold a long-term asset I am sure you are betting on BNB. at this time it may seem very expensive and already at the top. but seeing how the program and platform development continues, I am sure that in the future BNB will probably have the same price as ETH.

First of all, nice to have you here bro!

You have to know that there are a lot of coins, some of them are good, some of them, are bad( scams, pump and dump for profit etc ).. you gotta be careful in what coin you invest; the main thing is, when you create your portofolio, invest in as many coins as you can, not just in one.

Read about the project, read about the coin which you want to buy, read read read because information is power.

it is a very good choice. but for now, I might be able to advise you to focus on coins and tokens from exchange platforms and wallets.
for the long term, I think the exchange platform has the capability to make a decent pump. just look how BNB. currently, there are SFP, TKO, UNI, and CAKE. I believe such assets will be viable in the long term.

It is usually more profitable to buy when others are selling. Sometimes this is trading short term and sometimes it is long term. In either case, it is important to understand when you are comfortable with a short term trade and when you should reconsider.

There are a few things that any kind of investor, whether a trader or investor, needs to keep in mind. Perhaps the most important is to assess where you are at this moment and not get caught up in recent events. It is worth pointing out that Bitcoin did manage to recover. Perhaps because of that, it is a bit easier to look at it with a more positive lens.

This is mainly a bitcoin forum, so the answer would be pretty obvious.
Just a correction, advice about investing in bitcoin is not about this forum being a bitcoin forum, it is just about bitcoin being an asset, that if we invest today, we will gain after a while.

There are a large number of altcoins on the market, and investing in them can bring a profit hundreds of times more than what BTC can bring. But the risks of investing for a long period of time are also very high. It is for this reason that investors choose bitcoin and other top altcoins for a long-term hold.

Sadly you will find out soon that prices are inflated and maybe you will start having profit but eventually "coins" will draw back and reach prices they had before the pump. This will be the dump phase, and you should be getting ready to dump and not thinking about long term hodl. There are so many examples of investors losing their money having invested in what they thought was "top" projects with "strong" teams.

The best coin to hold for the long term is only bitcoin because bitcoin is the leader in the crypto market. But it is difficult to know which altcoin will be good to hold for the long term because we have so many altcoins that almost all of them can increase in the long term. I can only suggest you hold altcoin for the short and medium term so when you see the price increase, you need to sell it and wait for some time to buy back the coin at a low price.

Most people will advice their preferred coin. DYOR it is the best way to determine what coin do you think has a huge long-term potential. Investing in new coins is risky since most are pumped and dumped once listed. There are a lot of coins there with good use case, active team and great partnership with huge companies.

If you're looking for safe investment then just go buy big coins in top 5 CMC.

But if you dare to take more risk, then you should find another good alts with small marketcap which is like arpa, bake or many others good coins with small market cap.

We can only suggest some that are top in cmc to you but it is left for you to dyor before making an attempt to buy, always do research, understand the positive and negative aspect then decide,
If you are looking long term as a newbie in crypto I would suggest btc, eth bnb, maybe some xrp and ada depending on your wallet, this are top and trusted coins to buy for long term, good luck.

I can only but say to you that the industry is made for those who know what patience means. Investors who consider the crypto space as one that is worthy of their investment should properly understand the term HOLD as it is key to making profit. You have to HOLD coins for them to appreciate before you take profit.

I understand your first question like what are the things we need to do for keeping a coin for long-term, right?
I guess we need to invest only what we are having as a surplus fund; it means you should not invest your committed money; because you're going to lock your investment for years so you should not expect any returns or exiting before reaching targeted price levels. More importantly you should invest only your affordable level of money which means even your investment turns negative then you should not worry about that.

Bitcoin must be the best one for for long-term holding plans. If you are investing your non-committed money and you are able to wait for years then you can easily get 10x returns for your money. There are some other altcoins are there as well but I'm sure none of them could beat bitcoins in terms of high returns.

To invest in bitcoin and altcoins in the long term of course we have to research for ourselves how the development of the coin is suitable for us to invest because in investing we must have our own confidence because the risks we face are very large, investing in the long term we have to choose a coin that has high potential so that later we do not suffer big losses, then bitcoin, ethreum and BNB are the best options for now.

If I can give you suggestion for long term investment, I think you should invest on Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance, XRP.
I think Ethereum will be huge in the future, but for now Bitcoin is decreasing in price, so maybe you can invest on it to gain profit in the future.

The number 1 altcoin that can be kept forever is ADA - Cardano.

Why? there's a lot of investors and it is one of the top cryptocurrencies with a huge trading volume. If you check their roadmap, Cardano is very promising as it will compete with other blockchains and definitely, DeFi craze will also start whenever it's accessible right now. It has also a scalability solution that the other blockchains are experiencing.

The price is still 1.40$, buy it now before it becomes 10$ or 100$ like BNB!

The only coins that are eligible for a long-term hold are bitcoins. but if you want to take a little risk you can invest in big altcoins like etherum, bnb, polkadot, cardano, litecoin, monero, and others. in fact coins with a large market cap are all worth investing in the long term. live how you judge but always look at what trends are popular, like currently ethereum may be profitable but the situation is less favorable to investing. On the other hand, the BNB is more profitable because it is popular.

Well, if you are going to ask me about holding coins long term, I think I only have 2 words that would describe my experience with long term holding coins. That would be patience and research. We all have this desire to be financially independent and many have been counting on their cryptocurrency investments. Their attempts will be futile if they do not have the patience and the proper research of the coins they are trying to invest with. Some say you must have the proper mental capability of waiting and not getting affected with the ups and downs of trading and I think they are correct.

Long term? bitcoin and any other major altcoins that are still top 5, they are really good for long term as long as when you buy it you're not buying it at too high of a price or maybe wait until there's some dump and buy at the dips. See these coins price chart from the day they was created until right now you'll know what I mean. Meanwhile other coins that are below top 5? there's some that actually are hidden gems but to find it you need to make thorough analyzation as well as making sure you know the risk involving holding these coins.
But tbh, with eth for example, you can stake it or become validator if you have the money, it could double the profit you may get in the future, then again it depends on your preferences. Just choose whatever fits you and your vision.

It wouldn't hurt to get some paper wallets for a few alts coins and bitcoin and drop $100 on each then put them away for a couple of years then see how they are going.  (You can always top up with $100 at a time into each of them in turn).

You must go for the top-tier coins. that will give you a guarantee for long-term investment. You can try to pick some coins like bitcoin, finance, ethereum, XRP, and all of top 10 CMC.
That will be the best choice for you consider when you wanna hold it for the long term and you will need a liquid asset that
I think that others will also give suggestions to pick the major coins.

i know bitcoin expensive but you can start with technique "Dollar Cost Averaging"
I do not think bitcoin is expensive if 1 satoshi can worth a value, what investors should mainly focus on is its deflationary aspect and its long term increasing marketcap which will still skyrocket its price as it is still at its early age (meaning? More people and institutions will still buy it). So, the advice to go for bitcoin is a great idea.

If the transaction fee rate in Bitcoin will not decrease over time just like what we are experiencing right. I will believe on your quoted word above on how expensive Bitcoin is. On electrum wallet. It cost me 0.0015BTC plus minus just to send some of my money. The mempool problem is really a huge downside of Bitcoin. Imagine owning 0.005BTC below then the fee is almost half it while the price in fiat skyrocket.   Grin

It's the same on ETH but they fixed this kind of problem a few days ago. the transaction fees are now back to normal.

As for the OP's question, I recommend BNB, ETH, and BTC. these Cryptocurrencies are most likely won't die soon and they will secure your long-time holding.

To keep a coin for a long term, I hope you are prepared to hold no matter the market sentiment and also the outcome when it does not favour at the end?
Sometimes market changes as aweel as the trend. I hope you know that and you are also aware of the volatility accompanied by this market.
To enjoy crypto, you have to hold for long term but at times its always good to consider opportunity cost. Why hold  coin when your target has been hit? It's always a greedy mindset that's does this, don't include this as a Habit.

Keeping a coin at period of time, determine the kind of investment  you want to, really keeping coin is one of the major method use of generating revenue or multiplying values of coins, from perspective it's encouraging to buy coin and hold for sometimes because it can rise or fall, so the evaluation or the possibility of getting increase is higher than the probability of it to get low, so from these concept it good for everybody to purchase coin and hold for sometime before selling.

if you want to keep a coin/token for long term you don't wanna just keep it and let it sleep. you would want it to also earn while you are keeping it or let it grow at the same time. to make it possible you need it to be in the personal wallet where you have the private key and you can access it yourself alone. and also you want cheap coins so that you have the maximum amount of them in your wallet. i personally like to keep ADA and stake on the wallet so that it grows as well. there are some other tokens but some may not agree to be about it such as TRON.

Go straight and invest in Bitcoin or Ethereum if you want a good coins that could sustain for a long term. Don't ask the very obvious but if you are really unknowledgeable about it you are free to do some research. Well, research is required especially if you plan to invest on something and you really have to know everything about it.

Then start to diversify your investment into more altcoins that has potential to even grow in the future. It's easy to spot once you look at the CMC find the top 10 altcoins although top 10 may not be enough so I would suggest a top 100 instead since most of them are on the list that I've once used and invested.

My ask is what will be your advices about keeping a coin long term ? Which coin is worth for it?
Only currencies that have an active team, continuous development, and an idea to solve an existing problem in the blockchain or the world in general.
Most altcoins fail this test, and even good currencies will fail to maintain the price, so if your goal is just price, buy bitcoin.
Some altcoins may be a suitable option for a year or several years.

The OP should start understanding the bitcoin market first. Because going straight to other alts will be a very challenging part to understand all these projects. And if he has already the grasp of what's going on with bitcoin market, he can check top alts first, at least more than likely, their market is already established as well as its use case. But it is hard to suggest about which coin to hold long term as it depends on the user how "long term" is he talking about, his goals about his profits and other factors. In time, he will understand more about the existence of these coins and which ones are worth to keep.

Welcome to the forum mate. Keeping a coin for a long term would only require you to have understanding with fundamentals of a certain coin, their roadmap, then most importantly your patience. Our advices would really be risky if you followed it without searching it by yourself. Always know what's the project use-case and its future development in their roadmap plus what do you think is the projects unique and distinct feature against other running projects. Consider those before investing then keep in mind that the market is volatile so you might as well use the strat Buy and Forget especially if you are aiming for the long-term investment.

OP since you pretty much got most of the advice.
I would like to add up that in case you're wondering where most of people's knowledge on the coins come from.
CoinMarketCap would be the best start to start your research in every coin, assuming you're looking for other coins as well.
Just don't forget Bitcoin of course. Smiley
Good luck in your journey, OP.

Glad you have joined part of this forum. Surely you will find the right answers about research where.

Suggestions for you to store long-term coins are BTC, ETH and BNB which are coins which I think are better than others but remember this is only a suggestion from me but you can do your research to find the right source where to buy coins in the long term.

Remember to have been in the forum for sure you will find a good thing where you will understand about real investing.

It totally depends on what coin you are holding. Buying Bitcoin at 60k and waiting for long term is not a good idea in my view. You have to buy a coin at dip for long term hodling. Also be aware of shit coins that are available at cheap rates. At that time the most perspective looks to be ETH because of upcoming fork to ETH 2.0

Lately, I have some list of top coins that haven't hit ATH perfectly yet. My choice is the BNB, LTC and BTT coins have the opportunity to reach new ATH, I am not not suggesting BTC and ETH but the current price is still too high and maybe you can buy it if the price is corrected below.

That's an everlasting debate. A few years ago $20,000 was "too high" to buy yet here we are wishing we could get in at that point.
This is why even I have stopped using such statements. No price can be too high or too low since it's just a speculation and it keeps changing.

The best thing for you would be to do some research on the top 10 or 15 coins and then list out which coins you like.
I would say pick the best two apart from BTC and ETH and then diversify your investment into the 4 coins.

Two questions:

> My ask is what will be your advices about keeping a coin long term ?

Unless you're talking about > 0.1 BTC, I would advice _against_ cold storage.  You can easily screw it up and end up losing a lot of money in fees, if not the whole thing.  For me, I have it split between a local wallet running plain basic bitcoin-core node (which takes a lot of disk space to run, mind you), and then between Coinbase and Gemini.  Keep in mind, if you store it locally, keep a physical backup of the private key somewhere just in case.

> Which coin is worth for it?

As has been mentioned, this is not a topic for alt-coin discussion.  BTC is your best bet, IMO, but not the only one.

As a newbie, the best coin for you in the long term is no other than bitcoin.

And keeping it is simple, you make an electrum wallet and make sure that you download to the official website because there are fake ones that are existing.

You send the bitcoin you bought there and after that, you do nothing, that's holding.

My ask is what will be your advices about keeping a coin long term ? Which coin is worth for it?

This is not a discussion board for altcoins, so I won't mention any names, but I will say that you should never choose altcoin just because it is highly positioned on sites like CMC, because it only reflects the current situation - but in the long run most of these projects will disappear. Today, practically everyone can make their own coin, beautifully pack a story about that coin and, with a successful promotion, create wealth out of nothing.

What I would especially like to point out is that everyone should look at the total max supply of a coin - all those who measure it in billions will never have a chance to be worth nearly as much as Bitcoin, with most having no purpose at all. In short, don't waste money on nice promises.

I suggest you take a look at the top 10 coins right now and if you pick one or more from that list to hold you most likely won’t go wrong.
Bitcoin is still the leader and usually when bitcoin grows other coins rise as well, and when bitcoin falls then other altcoins also fall.
Don't forget that every investment is a risk and never invest money that you can't afford to lose.

In general though with investing in general, do your own research and make your own conclusions on which project/business is a good long-term investment. If you're not willing to do research and think on your own, then investing is not for you.

You are welcome to this forum. If you want to hold, no professional will tell you the exact coin to hold, you will need to research about it after making you suggestions. But if I am to advice you, you can go for bitcoin, but that does not mean some other coins are not good to invest, but make a very good research before investing. Know that you can lose if you start investing, but do not panic, if you truly hold, coins like bitcoin will increase price after long time which will make you gain. You should know how shit coins are very dangerous, they are the very low volume coins of no value that newbies can think of having potential tomorrow, although some can have potential tomorrow, but many or most of them can result to complete lost of money invested, I will advice you to stay away from shit coins.
