no coin can reach bitcoin, especially because they do not give anything worth it, at best small features that can be integrated in bitcoin, and bitcoin has merchants big merchants that accept it

remember that bitcoin needs  many eyars to be accepted like it is today, so now what make you think that a fresh new coin that is not accepted everywhere, will be suddenly accepted more than bitcoin, a bit foolish to think

Exactly. The bitcoin protocol can always be changed/updated. All these other coins are essentially copy cat coins to be honest. And with no hard limit on total amount of ether production? I don't get why anyone would store value there long term. Might as well invest in the US dollar. Lmao.

I could see ether coexisting with bitcoin, but not passing it. It would take a brand new technology to make bitcoin obsolete. Speaking of obsolete, even if bitcoin booms, I doubt banks and the stock market are going anywhere.

ETH is still a newborn. Hard to tell what life will await for it when it grows up. Hopes are high, but hopes are not enough to make long-term predictions with.
BTC in another hand is sick and slowly dying. Only the close loved ones are expecting a miracle cure, while others have come to terms with the inevitable. The main thing holding up BTC value at the moment is utility in black/grey markets. The legal side of commerce and finance have abandoned adopting bitcoin, since it's a low quality and impractical currency. Only interest that is left, is interest towards the blockchain technology and applying it to more practical solutions then a low quality currency.

There is only one viable reply to such an assertation.

Etherium has ZERO inherent worth 'till it can convince vendors to accept it (the same applies to any other cryptocoin).
Bitcoin is so far ahead of ANY other cryptocoin on that front that it's lead is probably untouchable (and the only coins even in the same PLANET are Litecoin, and perhaps Doge and Dash - NO other coin is in the same ballpark).

Monero - secure, private and untraceable currency.
Are you guys serious?

I am serious. So serious that I don't owe Bitcoins anymore. If you don't see the Bitcoin's doom scenario which is well in preparing, you're deluding yourself. Scalability issue won't be solved until July's halving. Classic obviously will not prevail. Enjoy the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NgFIj9dBkQ) and sell your Bitcoins while they're worth.

Bitchez, please.  ETH may surpass bitcoin but not anytime soon.  For most people in the crypto space, bitcoin is it.  Rises in altcoins only mean more bitcoin for them.  ETH seems to have some advantages over bitcoin, I will admit, but this price spike we've seen in the past few months is just a little bubble of speculators driving it up.  It's gonna be a while before it gets more valuable than bitcoin.

I do not think it will surpass #Bitcoin either...
Agree with you...

To be honest, I think none expected such an ETH raise. And yes, there are faucets. In fact I got my first 0.3 ETH from faucets and I regret having sold them at 1/3 the value ETH has now. Perhaps it would deflate, but I do not think it will deflate to nothing.
Although I do not think it will surpass btc either.

Eth is deflating

Yep! It slowly going down and I'm expecting some correction after such a big rise in price.
ETH price is slowly going down, Big investor slowly exiting ETH and the pitty is all that ride the hype.

Signs of people getting out.

If you hold any, you should get out before it tanks harder then it is now.

Always be in the position of having others to take the fall, which is the only way with these pump and dump alt coins.

Besides a hype. I would call it a scam.

There are only a few at coins that bring something significant to the world of crypto where bitcoin can still grow, eth is definitely not one of them.

I just hope all of bitcoin,  that means the main developers all contributors, miners and the community as a whole will work on making and keeping bitcoin strong by learning from others and acknowledging there are problems that need to be addressed.

Reading up on SegWit gives me some hope.

ETH has a pretty good potential to take more bitcoin users into their market, i have been trading for a while in ETH and it was amazing how fast were growing for about 300% or more in small period of time, and at the same time bitcoin was falling, i think they will pass but not very soon.

I believe that ethereum is just a bogus thing and will pass too just like any other bubble. Bitcoin is here to stay!
I notice there are even faucets for ethereum to try and make it look like it is here as a staple thing but it will be gone soon. Just for hype that is all.  Roll Eyes

Are you guys serious?

First, ethereum is most likely in a bubble and in a hype phase. Bitcoin isn't.

It's a pain to buy compared to bitcoin and it's useless right now for payments.

There is no hard cap on the amount that can be produced (terrible store of value).

It's light years behind bitcoin as far as infrastructure development. Also, look at all the growing pains bitcoin has had. Don't be silly and think ether won't experience the same thing if it continues to grow.

I just don't get what the big deal about ethereum is to be honest.
