I guess Gavin's the heir apparent?

Feel free to discuss...

The heir of what?
And according to who?

Because if it's Bitcoin we are talking about then I am sorry but you are wrong.
Bitcoin is decentralized and the whole "heir" thing you are refering to doesn't actually fit in.
Sorry.

I think you may have missed my sarcasm (which is easy to do through written word or poor writing on my part.)

The statement that Satoshi "gave control" to Gavin sounds ridiculous to me, but I'm not some Legendary member here and don't know all the history and I'm not in any conversations with core developers. So...maybe this did happen? Maybe Satoshi and Gavin are connected and at some point Satoshi said to Gavin "if this project needs adjustments, you take the lead."

Again...I find it hard to believe but I have no fact to support that it did or it didn't. The hilarity is that it's clearly not some wide known fact (if it did happen) and I doubt this Watch Mojo group on YouTube has any information that the community here does not. Which leads me to believe that their claim is bullshit.

#1 Satoshi Nakamoto (cue loads of video of the California guy that was wrongly accused of Satoshi) - "Nakamoto passed majority control to scientist Gavin Andresen in late 2010"; "It's rumored that Satoshi Nakamoto is a combination of SAmsung, TOSHIba, NAKAmichi, and MOTOrola, but it's not confirmed"

Im  speechless

I have heard this before and it is quite dumb, wouldn't samsung, Toshiba and the other companies all accept bitcoin on their respected sites for sale if they developed it? It is just people being stupid with the name.

Well, they maybe would not accept it precisely to not raise any alarms, if they all accepted it at once then the theory would even be stronger. I personally think it's just another internet conspiracy theory, also I doubt any of those guys would be smart enough to create technology this disruptive. It's usually the anonymous super gifted hackers that create the amazing stuff and that's what I still think Satoshi is given lack of any better countertheory.

It's not far fetched that Satoshi might represent a group of people tho. I just disagree with the overall negative impression this video gives to the world and how factually wrong it is.

We need to go in there and rip it apart in the comments section. Give them all the correct information they need instead. The shills in this world, will do anything to serve their masters. Anyone want to counter that

with " The real facts about Bitcoin " video?

I think its really stretched out to fit those brands, it could have been any other brands. It could have been made with other brands if it was a different name. I dont believe the theory of "its a bunch of companies together", thats nonsense to me.

Can you honestly say that mike and gavin can predict what blocksize we should have up to decades from now with an arbitrary hard coded increase instead of a real response to the market?

Apart from that I am still not convinced that Satoshi left willingly.
I am yet to see the official statement made by Satoshi that he/she/they "have moved on to other things".
Judging by Satoshi's last post (quoted below), it doesn't seem to me that there were other more important things to them.

Quote
There's more work to do on DoS, but I'm doing a quick build of what I have so far in case it's needed, before venturing into more complex ideas.  The build for this is version 0.3.19.

- Added some DoS controls
As Gavin and I have said clearly before, the software is not at all resistant to DoS attack.  This is one improvement, but there are still more ways to attack than I can count.

I'm leaving the -limitfreerelay part as a switch for now and it's there if you need it.

- Removed "safe mode" alerts
"safe mode" alerts was a temporary measure after the 0.3.9 overflow bug.  We can say all we want that users can just run with "-disablesafemode", but it's better just not to have it for the sake of appearances.  It was never intended as a long term feature.  Safe mode can still be triggered by seeing a longer (greater total PoW) invalid block chain.

If it's on the internet (and such an established library as YouTube) it must be true, right?

The Watch Mojo YouTube channel has a Top 10 Bitcoin Facts video...#1 is priceless.

Most of the list is legit but not incredibly interesting, a few highlights are:

  • #6 Mt. Gox was forced to file for bankruptcy - "Bitcoin is a currency that can lose up to 80% of its value in seconds" - so Mt. Gox was in very big trouble very quickly
  • #5 Banning the Bitcoin (cue China flag) - "Bitcoin is outlawed in many countries around world and is heavily frowned upon by many others", i'll give you a moment to finish laughing....done? They then go one to say that countries with tough restrictions at first have soften their view; "Even the US flexed its monetary muscle by shutting down a physical bitcoin production company in 2013 (Casascius?)
  • #3 Wikileaks - USES BITCOIN! (gasp), however there was no mention of all the very reputable, boring companies that also accept or use bitcoin
  • #2 Silk Road - it had to be on the list somewhere
  • #1 Satoshi Nakamoto (cue loads of video of the California guy that was wrongly accused of Satoshi) - "Nakamoto passed majority control to scientist Gavin Andresen in late 2010"; "It's rumored that Satoshi Nakamoto is a combination of SAmsung, TOSHIba, NAKAmichi, and MOTOrola, but it's not confirmed"
