now the ranking has changed there is no more fomo defi without clear development.
now that the above really has a clear purpose, the abal abal project will not last long, and also now fomo btc does not affect altcoin prices like it used to, they are moving themselves now.

I also see some tweets on Twitter that they lose a ton of money because of YAM and I also don't think it's a good Defi project. Based on the list of Defi projects, I saw the Curve that has been listed in Binance a few days ago and I already tried using the Uniswap and the only problem that I encountered here is the high fee when I'm buying coins. Most of the new Defi project that I have seen are always listed in Uniswap but I don't know if they are legit or good Defi projects. All Defi projects in the list seem good except on the YAM which is a kind of scam.

Today every day we can see new to-10 DeFi projects. Cryptocurrency fans can make even the most ridiculous project the top one. Many people ask which coin to buy, which project to invest in and, relying on frequent responses, create an artificial excitement.
But anyway... you can check Poolz for example Smiley It looks like it can fly high

You need to DYOR, while choosing one or another solution. One of the most worthwhile now - MCDEX - entirely new opportunities on DEXes field. Goal of this protocol is to allow anyone to create and trade in any perpetual market. To start with, anyone can create their own perpetual market with the price feed of underlying asset and choose any ERC20 as collateral. Secondly, they have designed an AMM for the perpetual market and this AMM also has better capital efficiency. AMM solves the liquidity problem - anyone can provide liquidity to AMM by depositing assets in the pool and get reasonable market making profit. Curious to hear your opinion, have a look at their website https://mcdex.io/

I don't know the details about the defi project.
Although I've been associated with cryptocurrency for a few days now.
So those who know the details, please tell me a little about the Defi project.

yes, yam was a top Defi project inception untill it got hacked. just like cover protocol. these projects where powerful but fall below pecking other due to their failure to protect their platform. these has affected their market cap and investors against future hacks. same can be said of projects that have rug pulled. apart from yam the list contained quality defi project which are the future of financial breaktru in blockchain smart contract.

Many people think that the DeFi trend is over, but if we look at the price movements of several DeFi projects that continue to rise. This has proven
that the demand for DeFi projects is still very high. So in my opinion, investing in DeFi projects is still very feasible to do. Even the top 10 DeFi projects
that I saw at CMC sites had experienced a drastic increase in prices, especially for LINK and UNI which have always been my favorite DeFi tokens,
they have risen quite high this year.

There are many defi project but i like uniswap, polkadot very interesting project. Do you know every investors want good project which giving more profitable. uniswap was giving a fantastic opportunity which is top notch 400 uni airdrop. Basically you should take a best defi project where you can take more profits.

While Uniswap standout among the defi project there are more of them that actually better and its orice continue to moon up. Synthetix use to be just less than $1 but you can only have few of it with $1000 today. Every Defi project that somehow people think are just driven by hype just took off.

Aave is definitely the kind of project that you would want to try out.

Yam is no longer among top 10 DeFi projects, it is among top 10 worst projects in 2020. This shows how important is development and audits, you can speed up the process only to use current market mood.  Roll Eyes
True, but strangely there are still many people who buy this token, and also yam have followed the trend like other DeFi tokens by making Yam 2.0, and now that hype of this project is coming back, I think they will make Yam 3.0 if Yam 2.0 fails.
Grin that will be historical, from Yam 1.0 which signifies failure to 2.0 and then finally end in 3.0!? Well, maybe nobody will be ready to check-in with them. They have made huge mistakes and coming back won't be easy as we thought, because, major investors lost their respective portfolios with them( I hugely got injured with their token). I wouldn't advise any of my group traders to get into this bad omen this time. They should come-up with another good #defi project to keep Yam as a failed project.

Because the price has come down lower than the ICO price, so people are trying to speculate and hope that this project can grow in the future. This is a risky option because obviously this project is scam

I do not believe in this assessment, they list small projects and say which are the top defi projects in this market?
Please go to: https://coinmarketcap.com/defi/
You will see which project is the best
Coinmarketcap provides realistic positions and valuations. I am interested to see and read this .. this is better than having to listen to the worthless speculation of posts that are not necessarily true.
Well, it's better to keep track of these projects through Coinmarketcap. They will give the best reviews and you will be absolutely right to look at it. Never rely on bullshit reviews because twitter accounts like this, most of the projects on the list are bullshit and scams

i would not believe to coinmarketcap nor dappradar, always do deeper analysis before investment and invest what you can afford to lose, nothing more than that, crypto is a risky business

I think Yam is still a good project. Just because of a small mistake, they made the building's value almost zero. I believe they will soon fix the above error and bring the project up to its plan. In the top 10 projects above I think it is for reference only and there are many errors because there are currently many projects with higher capitalization and more known people than the list above.

YAM is similar to Ampleforth.
I'm sure the developers took a lot of ideas from this project. Such projects bring money only to developers, and many novice investors lose huge amounts of money. I would not be surprised if the price of the new token rises again.

"Migration from YAMv1 to YAMv2 is now live, please see below for more information.

Migration will be possible for all v1 tokens for 72 hours, from 4:20 PM UTC 8/19 to 4:20 PM UTC 8/22. "

I've been studying defi for a week now, but I still don't understand a lot. Where to read in more detail?

Here you can find more information about defi http://crypto.marketswiki.com/index.php?title=DeFi_(Decentralized_Finance)

Also you can find more details information when Google the word defi.
I saw yam is included in top defi project but their investors get rekt after announcement to failed project. It was trading over 150 and within a hours its goes to zero still wonder why it's in top ten. New investors should be aware theirself before investing in defi project. Because without proper research you can loose all your fund.

No doubt about that. But the site seems to be followed by most users. Actually yam is a good project, but the consequence of their error made a lot of money losses. If only they were able to secure codes properly then this would not happened. What Im not sure if the error is really an error or a planned act to exit from the very start but if it is. Then lucky guys for ripping too much money.

What made yam a good project? Memecoin? Funny? The fact that they made a smart contract without auditing it should remind everybody that most of these projects are led by people who do not know enough and think they are smart,,, and then we make them even better by going for their new projects. Truly the hype era is back.

YAM is dead. it has lost 99.99% of its value. coingecko does not even list its market cap as supply number is undefined at the moment. coinmarket has listed its marketcap at just under 26million. That wont put it in Top 200 at the moment.

Only worthwhile DEFI projects are Chainlink, Aave, Synthetic Network Token, Maker and Compound. Stay away from others.

I think Coinmarketcap will list the best Defi tokens for investors and you can greatly reduce the risk when choosing to invest. I often go to CMC to research new Defi projects because this investment trend has become more popular in the past few weeks. However, it is not possible to be sure of anything because risks can happen at any time and should not be too confident in the project.

Yes, if it does not have Chainlink, what else would it have. Actually there is another chain killer project, which is a defi and an oracle. This aspect of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology is already expanding and the market ahs not really be explored to a reasonable point, but i know that before the bull run, it would have had so many tentacles and would have given birth to lots of projects.

That's what I noticed at first looking at the list. Chainlink is out of the picture considering that it is number 1 in CMC. And checking again right now, still Chainlink is the number 1. However, where the OP got the list may have different criteria of selecting their top 10. So as a crypto user/investor, you should be smart in selecting a DeFi project as there is this current hype and everyone wants to be the top. Some of these ranking sites are also paid so don't put too much trust on them.

It could be like you say , i am not surprice about anything in crypto. Why this fomo about defi project , long term will not bring to us anything! Personally i don't like this kind of project.

Investors do not care about whether a project is good and long lasting or not. They only want a project that can bring them great profit in a short time whether it is a scam or not. That is what is happening now with any project that has the Defi tag to its name. Soon all this will fade away and the losers will count their losses.

I expected to see yfi on the list.. Still wondering how the project got so high and even hot listed on binance. It rose from $32 to presently $10000. I can't say if it's a scam project.. But hey! The rise is too much and it's still going up just withing 1month. I think it as should be amongst the top 10 defi projects that's doing fine. Those who bought at very bottom should be smiling now.
It is clearly not a scam project and Binance don't join hype and easily list scam project. Nevertheless it is too soon to say YFI will be a successful project. Time will tell and it is very good time to jump out of the YFI boat. I am not an investor on YFI but it is my thought. The price is very high now and you will get 30 or 40% of loss in a few minutes.

There is nothing can prevent another hacked DAO like Ethereum DAO years ago.

Yes, I know scam accusation on YAM and I don't know why the site still listed YAM in the list of top 10 Defi (all protocols). Is it a paid-position?
Very possible it's a paid position, if a scam coin but can be in the top ranking I think the site provider receives a fee from dev, they take advantage of the current Hype situation to trap investors.
I also think so, I don't know this website, and it's not well known and popular in this market. How can they list a scam project as one of the best in this market, what a silly joke

I was also surprised when the link you shared with YAM was in the top 10, I was also surprised that Coinmarketcap was able to put the project in position 42 https://coinmarketcap.com/defi/. looks like coingecko performance is better because we won't see the project in the top 100 https://www.coingecko.com/en/defi

Never be surprised about Coinmarketcap because there is a lot of misinformation and a lot of projects and scams that have been listed on the site, just yesterday I wrote a topic about that in the Arabic section and put some pictures about inaccurate information.
So I'm never surprised at this and I agree with you that coingecko is a lot better and more reliable than Coinmarketcap.

With this DeFi hype, there are many projects suddenly changed their project into a DeFi one. We should not trusting them all unless we really know the about the project.

So if Yam is a scam as I have read in several place, why is it then listed. May be they have found a way around the challenges they faced before the price dump. All said and done, we should be careful Defi projects we are getting into.

Defi has become the talk of crypto community, everywhere you turn there is a thread relating to defi being created, this is not surprising as the defi project have been doing really well lately, I think this op list about top defi project should be reupdated because am not seeing some defi project on it.

Since DeFi hype is going on in the market now, it is normal for everyone to go this way. I will not say which coin is bad or which coin is good.

The main reason is that everyone has a different system of self-research so my opinion may not match. I just want to warn new traders.
Find a good project without running after that hype, because when the hype is over, you will not get a chance to correct your mistakes. So it is better to prepare in advance.
They should really be on having that advanced thinking if they wont like to be fucked up in the end of the line.This thing happened when ICO is hyping and also with EIO and when DeFi thing had hyped up
then i do already told myself that this one is the 3rd one which the market would really talked about.Good for those who had able to make money but wont really be that ideal if they would go all in
just because they had profited on the first step.Come to think when the fuel for hype is gone then expect for a heavy correction which always been had when dealing up to this market.
Everything is unpredictable though and we cant judge if this one would be on the same fate.

There is so much light given to DeFi projects these days, investors are falling crazy over it coz there are various coins that already pumped unbelievably making x5 to x10 revenue to them. I hope the hype for these projects won't just be another fail era of projects. History repeats itself? I'm thinking lately if this is going to be the same era as 2017 where there are a lot of projects taking place and funding, investors are crazy for getting a profit and project teams ran away with the money. Would this hype will be a history for most of the investors again? I hope it won't. Now there is coin that made an incredible high, then the team found a code bug on it. Yup it's YAM.

I am most shocked to see snx being so expensive now. I had the chance to grab then very cheap. I do not remember exactly but i think for 8 9 cents but i skipped it thinking that it will not be worth it actually the market back then was so slow back then that there was almost no hope with most of the projects but the ones that kept developing they are reaping the fruit now and snx is one of them.

Yes, now the price of the SNX token is $ 5.91, and the Synthetix Network ranking in CoinmarketCap is fourth among the top 10 Defi projects, You missed a big opportunity from your hand, this is the crypto market always volatile.You should not rush to make an investment in any project, but you must thinking and seeing the experience of the project team and their continuous development, so if you invested some money in it, you will earn a lot of profits in the future.

Yes, I know scam accusation on YAM and I don't know why the site still listed YAM in the list of top 10 Defi (all protocols). Is it a paid-position?

It doesn't seem to be a paid position. Instead it all seems to be due to fake volume, perhaps the source where this info is taken from is corrupt in that manner.
I must say though that I was surprised to see MakerDAO into the top 10, and even more so how JUST came just below this ranking.

These are perhaps interesting to keep an eye on in the future. DeFi is certainly one industry to be watching but its related projects as we just seen don't always deserve their ranking! Something to be mindful of.

I wonder that is DappRadar really trusted?
I never use this tracker so far. CMC ad COinGecko is most used.

Yes, DappRadar is trusted. I think the reason why they don't have LINK in their list is because they're mainly tracking DEFI dapps developed on blockchains like ETH, TRON, EOS and ONT.

I am surprised to see YAM in the list of top 10 DeFi projects.
Seeing both YAM and Curve Finance's CRV token on the list is surprising to me. Considering they bought took a similar path upon their token launch.

In light of the recent DeFi trend, we have to be more cautious before throwing money to these DeFi platforms (just like what happened with YAM). Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a bubble just like ICOs and continues for a long run. Investing in DeFi tokens just because it's on Coinmarketcap, Coingecko or even DappsRadar 's list won't cut it.

I'm personally yet to get a full understanding of how Defi projects would be impacting the cryptocurrency space, but I learnt that they are pertinent to cryptocurrency loan, but it doesn't really make sense to me, considering the fact that they can't all be a loan provider or guarantor.

First, I am also a little bit surprised why they didn't include LINK on the list.
Other sources like CMC and also CoinGecko may have quite similar lists about the rank of DeFi projects.
We can see the following:
https://www.coingecko.com/en/defi
https://www.coingecko.com/en/defi
Those two sources have more similar lists and put LINK in the first place. There is no YAM, moreover on the top 10. I wonder that is DappRadar really trusted?
I never use this tracker so far. CMC ad COinGecko is most used.
YAM itself is in the rank of 341 on the CMC and it has quite enough trading volume.

You should update your list if DIA isn't on the that list. The next oracle. What happen to link?
The real DEFI revolution started from Link. Most of these DEFI are crap and hype, only few will last after bull run. Yam is big time looser as it loss - 1000% in just 24 hours of found bug.

Defi seems to be the new trend in the cryptocurrency space and several persons are joining the movement. Even as much as its awesome to join and get the best out of the market, its wise to be careful about your choice of projects to avoid issues and specifically its best to avoid pump and dump projects.

I think this probably exposes the fact that they aren't using the right metrics to rank the DeFi ("decentralized finance") projects.
If the right standards/metrics are used, I bet some good projects that aren't at the top will rank top while some of the sub-standard/bad ones at top will disappear from the top.
Seems the ranking system is more focused on the financial aspect than quality.

Some of My favorite standards for ranking "Decentralized crypto-projects"

*  Decentralization
*  Transparency
*  Immutablity
*  Censorship resistant
*  Anonymity/privacy
*  Permissionless/trustless
*  Security/safety
*  Consensus driven
*  Deflationary currencies
Etc

Projects developers can build the useful things they wish to build to get at the top once the above standards (and more) are followed... else they will be "cheating" in various easy ways to make it... while those following the standards won't

There is no one that  can't make mistake, Yam failed because it wasn't well unadited and most of the top protocol in the space have had their own bad days before. Assuming the Yam thing work out  the price would be above $500, you can still but it now when it is cheap because I have this feeling the reward is far higher than the risk

Despite the alligations on Yam, it still finds its way to the top 10. The Yam project really needs to fix her bug, or its possible the bugs could have been put in place by the team to assist them in their exit strategy. I really did not expect to see the Yam project on this list, but I guess the figures don't lie. They've got the market capitalisation required to be among the top ten.

The rankings in coinmarketcap are measured by market capitalization, so it's no surprise that YAM is ranked at No. 42 because its market cap is $ 19 million.

Definitely right, I believe most of altcoins or DeFi enthusiast already know many scam DeFi (e.g. YAM). But since they get paid, they will promote it and don't care about the accusation.

IMO there's no need to trust this site since it's only spread/promote scam tokens.

Among the list i am a fan of uniswap, i have heard and read about others too but honestly i have not used their services so i cannot comment on their authenticity but obviously all these projects are in high demand and that is why we see price pumping everyday but one day prices are going to settle around the real worth of each project.

We have already written many times that YAM token is a scam.
See real trading volumes by token.

Deposits and withdrawals are currently suspended on Gate.io, so don't even think about buying this scam on unisvat for $ 0.5 and selling it for $ 1 on Gate.io.
In addition to statistics, you also need to read news and social networks.

YAM still not proven scam that's why they are still considered as high risk investment. It was sad to see that this scam coin in on the top 10 of DeFi project because many people are still a believer of this project. I try to join on of there discussion channel and most interaction there is useless. Most probably, they are just buying it because of the hype. Imagine this coin manage to list on multiple exchange while other decent project don't even list on a single decent exchange.

Why is YAM on that list OP? That project is nonsense and needed to be stay away from, id replace YAM with Oikos Project and DIA DeFi project, they are both better than YAM and Chainlink is even better too and deserve a position in the list

It must be from dappradar but try going to this CMC page because Yam isn't on top. https://coinmarketcap.com/defi/  DIA is listed on on CMC but not found in the list.

Its an early warning to investors abut Defi projects that can suddenly turn scam like YAM. Some explanations I've read was that there was just a bug discovered that made investors dumped the token from $150+ down to $1. Such a loss if you bought YAM at its early launch and had not sold.

ChainLink and Aave are the top rated DeFi projects on coinmarketcap, YAM isn't even on the list, meaning the project is a failure like few said on here, still don't believe it's a scam but who really knows? Be careful where you put your money and be prepared to do better research instead.

I do not believe in this assessment, they list small projects and say which are the top defi projects in this market?
Please go to: https://coinmarketcap.com/defi/
You will see which project is the best
Coinmarketcap should be the reference, I was shocked when I didn't see Chainlink in the list and see YAM in top, but in coinmarketcap YAM is number 42. There might be a different basis in rankings but not indicated in the website so the title is confusing, I tried to on the basis for new project but only two listed.

Dappradar just reads the platform and display you the way you want it. The top 10 table is based on price of total coins coming and going of the platform. The dappradar don't maintain it and probably don't remove probable scam. The volume on YAM still seems to be quite high be it the deposits or withdrawal or combined.
Most of the times the scam quietly slips down the list but it takes time for many people to realize that.
