I watched the Miss Universe pageant and was disappointed when my bet did not make it to the top 10, it's a loss for me so I will just congratulate those who win which I'm pretty sure few of them only since the winner is not part of the favorites in sports book.

I am not actually used in watching Miss Universe, but I think it is quite feels to good if your nation wins but sadly, Philippines lost. I am quite happy about this on the other hand because I haven't initiated any betting in relation to the miss universe, so I haven't lost any amount so far which for me is what matters the most.

Bad choice as a candidate or not just a lucky year for the Philippines?
Not really a bad choice. The candidate sent by the Philippines come prepared however, there are times that when you got nervous specially on this kind of events where the world is watching you, you become conscious on your surrounding. If you watch how the Philippine candidate answer, it looks like she is nervous and her eyes are not focused on just one direction.

I cant even imagine how anyone will select one candidate in all of these ladies. Miss South Africa is definitely deserving but I dont think I would have bet on her. Miss phili is beautiful and definitely would have been my choice for the win.
Unfortunately the candidate of Philippines Ms Gazini Ganados stuttered during her introductory spiel and the way she delivered her speech sounded like she memorized it thats why the was a moment she paused and continued. That ended the streak of Philippines to be in the top 10 for the last 10 years.

No, last year, sportsbooks' top picks included Philippines, South Africa, and Puerto Rico; and all these three made it to the top 5 with Philippines getting the crown.

So I don't think sportsbooks always get it wrong. In many cases, the predictions of bookies come true or come so close to the final results.

These kind is the events that we shouldn't let to pass. What I mean is that, sea games, miss universe, and other tournaments that is worldwide should be taken as an opportunity to gamble and bet. If and only if there would be someone to manage a betting game about these games, we could earn profits and at the same time, be proud if ever if the contestant is part of the country, and they win, then lots of fun could be extracted from these.

South African has always represented the continent Africa well when it comes to beauty pageant. Although the first black miss world was from Nigeria, the South African beauty queens has always made us proud especially in the miss universe category. This isn't the first time they're emerging the champions and on numerous occasions they have been runner ups. Just glad black is finally been recognized as beauty as I read online some prestigious beauty pageants winners are blacks. (e.g miss USA, miss Teen USA, miss universe etc)

Watch the video of when Miss South Africa was announced Miss universe and what caught my attention was how miss Nigeria force her way from the back to the front to congratulate her and how other black contestants plus others huged her, it was a thing of joy and sigh of unity. Congratulations to her once more.

I still don't understand how sportsbooks do give odds for such miss universe things, I mean I get that there were leaks about who would be the winner and chances (not always right) but isn't beauty subjective? So, we are all thinking about what the judges of this competition will see as beautiful and try to guess that.

There are like 5-10 people as judges and those people may think beauty in women could be being blonde, being tall, being short, being skinny, being curvy, there could be millions of things, literally millions of things, that shape one persons beauty understanding and the odds basically are saying "judges understanding of beauty is this woman" which is something insane to think about.

I also don't think the winner is the most beautiful of them all, she would be top 10 easily but not the winner if you asked me so I could have never guessed who could win and bet on such a game.

Actually we have already miss Universe 2019 and that is Ms universe South Africa and I watched the pageant yesterday on the television and I really like her answer.  I bet Ms.Philippines also but she is not in the top 10 only in top 20 and that is wild cart choice but she do her best to show her beauty and personality to the whole world and congratulations among those candidates who join the competition they are so brave and unique women in the world.
Of course, she did here best but it was not what we are expecting, she doesn't look smart or witty with during here interview and maybe one of the reasons why she was not part of the top 10. Anyway, the competition is over, so better luck next time, this time around is for WAKANDA> haha

She's not my bet either I thought Puerto Rico will take home the crown, we are not one of the judges and we have not seen what these judges have seen, but congratulation to South Africa, there's so many meme's about her winnings like Wakanda forever, I don't it think should be that way, she came from South Africa not from imaginary place like Wakanda
He deserve it as the judges seen the talents that she've got. I see your point as most of us who watched the coronations didn't expected the outcome
but I agree that judges have it's own point of views regarding to how they will give the points to each ladies who participated from this event. I congratulate Miss South Africa for returning the crown to their country.

Part of the marketing strategy on the sports betting sites and yes, this must be a lesson to learn and a competition like this is unpredictable.
I also never expect who's gonna win and I think it is impossible that the Philippines will win again.

I have been watched the pageant of Miss Universe2019 last night and Congratulation to Miss South African candidate who got the crown and of course their bettors I'm sure they are celebrating right now. "Wakanda Forever" to the South Africans.

I remembered this scene of how happy she is.

"Wakanda" as a salute to there excellence.
The first time I see the Miss Universe this is the first thing that I thought. She looks like Okoye in the black panther.
I think the Philippines also have a pretty solid candidate but still, the South Africa candidate won the crown I have no complaints I think it was a great choice.

Yeah! I do not hope too much that Philippines will take home the crown once again simply because the preceding beauty queen is a Filipino as well. If Gazini won, I'm pretty sure that bad critics along social media or even different countries will approach in no time. Most probably they say that "judges are biased" blah blah blah. What I'm not expecting is that she failed to be at least on the Top 10 because the previous Filipina candidates did. So sad Sad. Anyway, I'm happy that South Africa won — she now reprepsent a new face of beauty Smiley.

Congratulations to the South Africa and its bettors, enjoy your big winning as this contestant has a great odds .

That's $2500 return for a $100 bet. (very unpredictable).

Yep, huge returns if you have bet on Miss South Africa.

No back to back title for the Philippines, interesting to note that this two countries (South Africa and Philippines) are battling it out in the last 4-5 years in this beauty contest. Time for the Philippines to take the game one notch higher next year.

Congratulations to our new Miss Universe, Ms. South Africa, and to those who placed their bets on this candidate!

I really want to watch the live telecast of Miss Universe today but due to daily obligations, I haven't Sad. Now I don't know why our kababayan Gazini Ganados did not won the title. She is leading in the online voting, isn't it? Hmm, well I admit it was an edge among other candidates but still the stage presence and Q and A portion are still the main basis of the pageant. Maybe that's where Miss Philippines lack of.

Nevertheless, Congrats to Miss South Africa. Seems that her country is a new power house when it comes to beauty pageants huh Cheesy.

So the winner this year 2019 is Miss South Africa. Imagine the odds that Miss South Africa will win the crown this year. Its not even in the top 5 list of OP. 2018 Miss Universe crown was handed over to Miss Catriona Gray of Philippines by Miss Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters from South Africa. And now Miss Catriona Gray from Philippines turning over the crown to Miss Zozibini Tunzi who is from South Africa. South Africa now have 3 Miss Universe winners from 2019, 2017 and 1978 Miss Margaret Gardiner.

I don't request loans~
Seeing as PH won last time, i'm pretty sure the eyes on the PH representative are quite a lot since they're pretty much awaiting a possible back to back win from them, which makes the judging a lot more strict in it. Plus, the other contenders are no weaklings neither so I'd say the ph has their work cut out for them.

The odds that Philippines will win again the crown for Miss Universe is very small, even if we see that the contestant has huge potential. Venezuela is the only Country who won back to back on year 2008 and 2009. Thats going to be a history again if Philippines can pull it out.

If you looked at the odds last year, odd-makers almost got it perfect.

Miss Universe 2018 betting discussion.

So we need to see what will be the odds for this year. Of course, the Philippines will be one of the favourites, but I haven't seen their candidates for this year. Last year though, Ms. Catriona Gray was like the winner already even before the pageant starts as she is the crowd favourite of the media and ex beauty  queens. So let's see if the Philippines will get it back to back, as they stop South Africa last year for winning their attempt to a back to back crown.

Such contests i always nice to watch, though I never tried to bet on it. But it's great to see some crypto bookmakers have this event.
I haven't checked all participants yet, but from Top 5 favorites girl from Puerto Rico looks best for me. Offcourse, all these girls are hot and it's very difficult to predict who will win. I see that girl from Philippines is one of favorites, but from what I saw, girls from same country very rarely wins contest 2 years in a row.

I'm all in in it for PH. IT is my country after all, and well, reaching this point today could be said that she deserves the crown. Though personal preference, I quite like the Brazil representative. Quite simple but still attracts my eye every time. Not gonna say that the other contestants don't but there's a magnetic charm or something of the like. There's also the representative of US, not gonna lie, seems like quite a battle between these reps.

I gave my vote even though I didn't really follow the news about this Miss Universe event..  I think the contestants from the Philippines have the chance to become champions, her faces, and her skin that are typical of Indochina (Southeast Asia) very exotic and have a distinctive appeal.
Give the same vote and we can actually saw on poll results initially on where people do think on who would take the crown on next Miss U.

Can philipines would have that back to back event? Basing into those candidates i do love Brazil when it comes to beauty compared to PH.

I like the candidate in Brazil, it looks simple but pretty. I did not follow updates on this event but based on what I have seen in the link, I feel that Miss Brazil will take the crown. Sportsbooks will take advantage of this event since we can make odds on them and probably placing a bet is more fun than predicting who's gonna win without money involved. It makes more excitement while placing your bet and waiting for the time of coronation night.

This is the event that i never had a clue, all the girls that are participating are really beautiful and how you are going to select a single person is my biggest doubt for ages, i know they need to be smart as they need to answer some questions but the rest is confusing, can someone post the ladies that are set to be the top contenders. Wink
Yes indeed, so many beautiful girls joining the miss universe so on which of them I would vote is Philippines since it's where I came from. I believe Philippines had won beauty pageants many times. This year it would be very tough so my base on how I will vote one of them is by knowledge as we know they're beautiful in their own way.

Exotic and dark skinned girls are being favored a lot more in the last 10 years at least so I wouldn't be surprised if the girl from the US gets the top spot.
I couldn't agree more. I had a quick look at her videos and she's lock for a top 5 IMO.
I don't know why Venezuela is an underdog here but never count her out. There is always that darkhorse in every competition.

Philippines is aiming for back to back crown for Miss Universe.
I will not be surprised why some of sportsbook has some good odds for Philippines, there's a lot of news that some beauty pageants contestants are traveling to Philippines just to practice or even buying/creating their costumes/dress that are made from the Philippines.

I don't know much about Miss Universe but looking at the countries in the list, we all know that those country are always doing well in Miss Universe, including Venezuela. If I were to vote on the poll, it would be biased since I'm form the Philippines and obviously I would support my country. Though I can't really tell if she can win the crown. But let's see... I've also checked the article and I find Miss USA beautiful– everyone is. But she just caught my attention.

The 68th Miss Universe competition is almost all set for the coronation night happening on December 8, 2019 at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. Catriona Gray, the current titleholder, will be the one to crown the Miss Universe 2019.

Will the successor be from the Philippines, the same country Gray represented last year? Possible, but three other bets are seen by sportsbooks as stronger contenders for the crown.
