There are some boards merit sources often visit so they spend more smerits on those boards but they also spend their smerits on the other boards. And the forum has a mix of merit sources and non-merit-source users who always ready to give away their smerits to good posts. Efforts have to be made before one user asks why he or she has not yet received not many merits or even a single merit.

The chance to get merit depends on your post quality. There are some merit earning beasts in WO, in Meta, in Beginners&Help, in Bitcoin technical boards, and even in gambling boards. Boards are not matter, your post quality is, instead.

If you have a question in your mind that "Why has I not yet received a single merit or has received too little?" Let spend your time to look at users who earn lots of merit in the boards you usually posts in and learn from them. I don't say you have to follow and copy all their style because style does not help you earn merits, quality is. So the most important thing you must learn first is knowledge from knowledgeable users in those boards, then their post-style.

There's no section in this forum you'll post something, people won't see it or comment on it. There's no exert section meant for merits source only. If your post is educating and more enlightened for people to gain knowledge from, expect to get merits from it. Irrespect of the sections

It seems that your analysis is inaccurate, you've not been able to prove it here, on the Meta board.
C'mon, the potential for merit doesn't depend on where you make the post, but on quality of the poster itself. I've seen many merit source applications that collect merit-worthy posts on various boards. I'm sure that the sources of merit want merit to be spread evenly throughout the forum.

Don't forget that they're from the same local.

Should I respond to this statement again? let me bring it here.

Do not be hypocrite. We are all here because we want to earn money, money is the reason why we keep on working hard in any aspects,
I'm not promoting anything for more than a year, and I'm fine.

This platform is really good for gaining knowledge and earning money, before we earn money in this platform we should have first rank level, which requires our merit and activity.

I have read a lot of threads about getting merits, I want to list down the sections that mostly give merit to us.
1. Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Trading Discussion > Reputation
2. Bitcoin Forum > Other > Meta
3. Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Marketplace > Services
4. Bitcoin Forum > Bitcoin > Development & Technical Discussion
5. Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Marketplace > Gambling

Those listed above are not in the particular order, that is only my analyzation based on what I have read about gaining knowledge. At first I think that the section that mostly gives merit is the Bitcoin discussion because there are a lot of active persons on that section but it all changed when I read some threads about getting merit.

I hope that this post will help you for getting a lot of merits.
Even though I'm a newbie based on what I have read on your post, I have to agree with others 100% that you're only here to gain merits just to rank up and participate on campaigns. Why are you doing this? At first I was intrigued at your topic which is really a bad impression and then when I read your post it's solely just straight to the point where I can conclude you're here just for the earning crypto and not for learning all the essence and knowledge about cryptos.

I'm sorry if that's what I see on you but you are one example why newbies are accused of being seen as abusers for merits. I also found out that you are one of our Locals in our Local board. You don't know how much merits are worth. Merits are gained by worthy members for contributing such topics or post that is knowlegeable for everyone's good. Not like this post of yours that is for abusers' good.

Your analysis is even very wrong. I am a regular poster in the gambling and Gambling discussion sub-boards and there is hardly in merits earned by members in there.
Stop focusing on merits and just post and interact with the community naturally. If you are a good poster and your ideas are good. People will appreciate your efforts.

@OP, earning merits have nothing to do with being popular, another thing is, it's never been on a first come first serve basis for any user here and I've seen newbies changing their destinies by becoming a Hero/Legendary here. DdmrDdmr and Direwolfm14 are the best examples if you want to admire someone on this matter and get inspired from.

Now, the other part - Sections.
Even I used to think that way some time before, that there are some major sections where most merits are distributed/earned and even considered Meta to be one of the highest converting section for potential-threads-with-higher-probabilities-to-earn-merits, but I was wrong and eventually, I learned that it's not true. The truth, as well as the fact is, you need to have the patience and great content as well as better presentation skills to present your content in a professional and highest-quality grade so that even if you post in sections where you believe that least merits are distributed, you will earn merits even from those sections and even better, those sections can be your key to get a lot of merits as people in those sections await good content and if you give them the food their minds need, they'll definitely pay you great rewards in terms of merits for the same.

<…> First, you need to be popular in this forum.
Not really, at least not to the extend you are inferring. I’d say that the foremost element is content alongside a reasonable perseverance, although many factors weigh-in (content, placement, time, topic, how worn down the topic is, lovers, haters, groupies, in agreement, in disagreement, informative, novelty, etc.), one does not in any case become popular by doing nothing, but rather through posting on a decent enough level.

Also gaining merits was like first come first serve, look at all the first pages of the topic. Merits were given to those first commentors unlike on the second page, third page and etc .. you can rarely see merits from that pages. Maybe because this pages was not like that important to read and also the readers were lazy to give their attention.
I analyzed that quite some time ago (see Forum Merited Messages- Does size count?), and since it was pretty early in the Merit System era, I expect things to have shifted a bit since then).
Regardless, I’d say that topic starters often have put quite a bit of thought behind, and are therefore merited more often due to that fact (providing the content is decent enough). From there on, after a certain amount of posts, it is common for answers to sway off-topic and/or be rather repetitive, which leads to the later answers to be less merited. There are obviously exceptions, but you we can’t generally expect too many novel on-topic informative answers as the thread spins on.

If someone's post deserves merit then probably he/she will get merit so basically it's all depend on the quality of your post. Your first priority should be sharing positive thoughts, knowledgeable things and ideas with these kind of attempts you may expect something good.

You're wrong mate having a good posts wasn't good enough to gain merits. First, you need to be popular in this forum.
As I observe since the day they implemented this merit system. It was already two years since then I guess, but merit farming topics still continue to appear on Meta section.

Also gaining merits was like first come first serve, look at all the first pages of the topic. Well, sometimes its not about the content of the post you are creating that matters to the eyes of the people who want to provide merits, it's the appropriateness and proper execution of your content to a board that matters. Just in case we missed out, there is a rule regarding merit begging that is prohibited. Meaning to say that if we somehow asks questions regarding merits or suggests some boards that needs to be merited, its quite annoying to the eyes of the viewers. But if we are creating contents regarding merit earners or merit distribution summary, that will already state the facts and is more systematic. In addition, merit statistics does really attract good posters.

You should post in board that you are familiar with instead of forcing yourself to post in hope for merits (forcing yourself just makes your post quality worse). Anyway, the local boards are best, most local boards have merit sources and decent quality posts usually get merits.

I know what he wanted. His main reason is to join signature campaign that will pay weekly BTC.

Dear OP, if your main purpose is just to earn money why not join me on bounties there's a lot of opportunity on joining bounties rather than aiming for signature campaign it's not worth it, you will be just force to post 25 in different topics it would only cause spam for the forum. Think about the risk of your account. Your account might lose some reputation. P.S we had thesame mission but we have different way.

many section threads can produce merit depending on how you contribute to that section thread. If you make a useful contribution to that section, of course many people will give merit to you.
Merit is really needed to be able to increase rank, but quality is also very necessary

There was an event in the past that provided many merit for participants including me. Yaotu's 10th bitcointalk event, with the work you made about 10th of bitcointalk you can get a few merit even more than you think, but you are late for that.

Actually, you don't have to mind about getting merit, you should mind first on how are you going to create quality posts and help other members in this forum, because if you created a well and helpful information then there is a person that might gives you merit especially if they find it so helpful for them.

But, on the other side, thinking about merit is also good because you will be interested in this forum, because that is we really need to increase our level and make more money, as we all want, we should not be hypocrite on this side. Our main purpose of joining this forum is to gain knowledge about virtual world and earn money as well.

Beginners should be like you, you are reading so well in this forum to the point that you made a realization about the top sections of getting merits. Keep reading in this forum because it will give you answers on your various questions on your mind.

This forum is entirely focused on discussions about crypto related topics until people use bitcointalk forum to earn money and also using it to promote their own project and the admin must take an action to keep it organized as possible like gambling board for gambling sites like casinos and it's ann thread. You are a newbie op and you should be learning and not focuses in earning. I am very like you at first always looking for a place where many people give merits. You can have lots of merit if you are not into merit hunt.

Merely knowing where the most sMerits it sent is maybe only a quarter of the work to even receiving an actual merit. If you don't post doesn't contain any kind of sense nor helpful to anyone will just make your post be like any other shit posts on those sections. Also posting analysis topics like this without some actual statistics backing them up will just make your own analysis simply not reliable, it would just make what you are saying an opinion of what you have observe on those threads.

@ op  you are supposed to be a newbie without a lot of knowledge
Although, this is true to some extent, we should always give the benefit of the doubt. Many users read for months before eventually signing up. I know with Reddit for example I don't even own an account, but I read there fairly often for information.

So XenoFever   was made on Feb 3 , 2020
This however is a valid point. Considering the email which is public information on that account has the same name "fricks" as the original poster of this thread. Its likely that they are in fact alternate accounts of each other. Especially, considering the other piece of information above that I addressed that usually you should give the benefit of doubt too new users.

So logically  you should be posting in the newbie section asking questions about what you don't understand.

Instead you post as if you have been around the block and have a lot of knowledge about the forum.

You are obviously a farm alt account that should be tagged as such.

You already got a merit today.  From another newbie.

So I would submit  both accounts are owned by the same person and you are looking to make a signature farm.

I notice that also, especially after one member of a Russian local board posted here about his achievement to get from 0 to 1000 merits. I have to admit that he was completely unknown to me and I didn't notice him anywhere in the forum, and only when I look at his merit history everything became clear to me. I also do not consider this an abuse of merit, but rather that the local board has a sufficient number of merit sources active in its local boards.

I think the OP is actually from the perspective of the ordinary observer concluded where the most merit circulates, but he did not realize that in most cases it did not matter where you post (with the exception of altcoins boards), but what you post. I don't blame him too much, he'll learn over time.
This was likely an attempt to gain a little merit by sharing their observations, but again they're a new user, and I know for a fact that my posts back when I was a newbie wasn't that high of quality, so I think it would be a little harsh to jump to the conclusion that this user will not be a quality user of the forum in the future, and thus the benefit of the doubt should be given when it comes to ignoring them. It was only from learning about the forum, Bitcoin, and maturing as an adult that I started to improve the quality of my posts. I think its quite well documented that humans are bad at spotting connections, and patterns. An example, of this which I'll admit is a little off topic, but still is a good way of looking at it; is if you have a bad day because you broke a mirror, and then had bad luck you would associate bad luck with the breaking of the mirror. Although, of course this is an extreme example, but gets the point across. Of course, breaking a mirror doesn't have any association with the outcome of your day usually, and is just being superstitious. I guess what I'm trying to relate this to is just because there is more merit within a certain section doesn't mean that if you post there you'll get more merit. Its in fact the quality of the your posts, however certain sections as pointed out by a few people draw in better quality users.

Development & Technical discussion is a prime example of this. Spammers are put off by posting in this section mainly because it actually requires some intelligence, and knowledge of Bitcoin to participate in this section of the forum. Something which a lot of spammers tend to avoid not because they're inherently unintelligent, but because they don't want to think, and want to post as much as possible with as little effort as possible. Signature campaign users usually flock to the easy to discuss options, and this is a common problem for the campaign managers when they hire someone, because for the majority of users will have a change of mindset as soon as you introduce money into the equation. Anyway, to prevent me going on more of a tangent; my point is that certain sections of the forum invite better quality posters, and the merit spend on that section is a result of this rather than the actual section itself. If a low quality user was to post in these high spend sections they would not be anymore likely to receive merit than other sections, because it is highly dependent on the motive, and quality of the post. There are some mild exceptions like local sections, and the altcoin section.

I’d take those users over someone who doesn’t give two shits about bitcoin. I didn’t even know you could make money here until someone told me to join a sig campaign, which then led me to a lapse of judgment I’ll never live down. When I first came here it was to learn ( and for shiny Casascius coins), As a newbie I would try and actively engage with the community but found it very difficult for some time. Mainly because many legit users didn’t take me seriously because of the mass amounts of shit posters like OP looking for nothing more then a pay day.

I've been doing that for a while now, though I don't think I'll put OP on ignore for this thread, even if it is rehashing data that's been known for a long time now.

Those sections might be a member's best bet to earn merits, but I would remind OP (and everyone else) that your posts still have to be good.  It isn't as though you can make garbage posts in Meta or Reputation and earn a ton of merits--lots of people have tried and then learned their lesson that it isn't quite as easy as they thought.

On the other hand, even if you make outstanding posts in sections like Bitcoin/Altcoin Discussion you might end up with no merits for your effort.  I think it's probably more important to not post in spam sections than it is to post in the ones OP listed--at least if earning merits is your goal.

Ignore merit at the start, instead begin to read Forum help page, learn and practice to use Forum search page. Additionally, spend your time to read Pinned threads in your interested boards/ subboards.

Spend your time to posts on boards/ subboards that you have knowledge on and don't try to posts on boards/ subboards that you don't have any knowledge on.

When you are able to use the forum effectively, you will see meriters knock at your posts.

Let's say directly about the most effective way to earn merits: using search as most regularly and effectively as possible. Search is the strongest available tool for you to earn merits.

With Search tool, even if you don't have knowledge or information on a specific question, if you want to help, you can: Just search to find available good answers and make your reply to help. Most of questions created on the forum are already answered and guided in the past.

I've seen a sort of loyalty between certain local users, and they are more likely to award users within their local community for lesser content (in my opinion). I don't think that's a bad thing, and is only a mere observation.

It doesn't matter to post in any section if you have very well high quality post and help members in this forum.

Sections which have higher amounts of merit awarded in them are because they have fewer spammers in them (like Development & Technical Discussion), not because they are "easy" to gain merit in. All you are doing here is encouraging people to post in sections and topics they have no knowledge of, which will not bring them merit and is more likely simply to get their posts reported and deleted.

The best way to get merit is to avoid posting about getting it. I might start putting posters who start merit hunting threads like these on ignore.
The amount of threads in Beginners and Help from newbies giving out advice about merit, writing merit hunting "guides", or asking how to earn merits is ridiculous. The irony is that some of them aren't utter spammers, but posting trash like this gives away their true intentions and makes it less like they are going to earn merits, not more.

Its all about the type of content you post rather than the section that is is within. The only exception is certain local sections don't receive nearly as much merit, however that also works in the opposite in certain local sections. I've seen a sort of loyalty between certain local users, and they are more likely to award users within their local community for lesser content (in my opinion). I don't think that's a bad thing, and is only a mere observation. However, for your observations above I'd argue that its not the section, but the content is king here as with everything. The reputation section, and scam accusations for example is known for outing scams which will gain a lot of merit usually. Anything which is done for the benefit of the community will receive huge support. So, although there is some correlation between the type of content, and the section its mostly the type of content you post.
