yes it is possible to talk to bitcoind on the same machine, but you can choose an other ip/machine if you like aswell:

Is it possible to talk to bitcoind on the same machine? What kinda input would he be looking for? I was interested in bit-pay but as its US only i feel this would be much more suited to an individual wanting to create a store.
