For security, it's better to use a hardwallet like Trezor or others because PK-based wallets are very easy to leak, there are so many viruses on the Internet to be ready to get wallet access. but if you only keep a few assets in the wallet it's ok , just use trustwallet or metamask they are quite popular.

Well, a lot of people think that all Tornado Cash is good for is mixing tokens for scammers, launderers, hackers and other criminals but that isn't entirely true. It's a very pragmatic viewpoint (a lot of people have this kind of mindset in Russia and China where everything is black or white).

Privacy and confidentiality of your transactions are very different then using a protocol for evading regulations and using it for money laundering. Privacy can also soon be done also with regulatory compliance.

The reality is that if you don't have privacy, you don't have freedom,

And how is this not black & white mindset then?

so we need to ensure that blockchains are as private as the coinage that we used in the past;
otherwise we could be entering a real distopia where our money and lives are tracked and our money can be frozen due to saying or doing things the people in government power don't like.

First of all, "could be entering?"
Newsflash, have you googled the FAFT travel rule? Money is already been traced. Old physical cash is disappearing fast and there will be MORE regulations and more automation for tracing it, not less. Funny enough reasons are transparency and government fund auditability too. There are 2 sides still on this, while we need 1. confidentiality on transactions 2. we need auditability for those transactions for weeding out criminal use cases.

Crypto however is as "private" or pseudonymous as it's always been. Trading it against fiat money however is where you need to explain where you got that crypto from and pay taxes for it.

Dreaming about going back as anon as physical cash days is a pipe dream. We live in a different world and there's a good reason for that. Anonymous physical coinage wasn't a good idea. It was just best we had at the time.

What if a new government party was elected that didnt' like muslims and decided that muslims should pay an extra Halal tax on all transactions? Things like this are coming if we don't protect our privacy.

If we had that kind of government, problem wouldn't be in tracking crypto transactions.

i only know bitcoin mixing like chipmixer and wasabi that have in built mixing but no idea for the evm compatible chain like eth or bnb smart chain.

the best for now is using coin that been made or build for privacy like zcash or monero but now they are losing because the government keep delisting it from centralized exhnge

Currently, amid the dire state of the crypto market, investors are becoming more and more skeptical about the concept of a cryptocurrency mixer after Tornado Cash was accused of laundering approximately US$7 billion through the crypto market, and has been blacklisted by the US Treasury. While the popularity of crypto assets suggests that digital assets will remain, the increasing number of scams and attacks suggests that investors should exercise caution before entering a decentralized market. Here are the top crypto mixed platforms that offer similar services to Tornado Cash but can be used in 2022.
Only narrow-minded people if they think this is the end of the altcoin mixer. I don't know why they not looking for another way like exchanging it first to bitcoin and then using chipmixer or another free mixer. why only focus to altcoin?

I guess it's because it is the first of its kind to be successful in the altcoin market. Sure there are a lot of bitcoin mixers still around even if there is a continuous crackdown.

And If I'm not mistaken, there are predecessor of Tornado Cash but it turns out to be a scam. So when finally we have a working model, and for years it is being used by a lot of ETH users, suddenly the government shut it down. But I believed another alternative will appear, but ETH users could use other methods like you mentioned before a new replacement for Tornado Cash will emerge.
Since Gavin Andersen mentioned tornado cash 2 years ago, this mixer is going more popular and is the only altcoin mixer that many people use. So what is their fault there is no rival, Only tornado cash was exist until the developer going to be a scam.

.....
There is a flaw here.
To have a hardware wallet you need to order one and
to order one you need to leave your name and email and whatever data
is needed to purchase trezor hardware wallet.
Thefefore you are not private any more at step 1
you are fucked once the company get hacked or the data gets stolen.
Is your device tied to your name or email address when you buy them? I mean does it have like a serial number unique to you?

Who knows.
It could be that the store keeps a database of sales
and that they have also this data stored in a way that they attach device
serial number to the purchase order.

A "friend" of mine has been using Tornado Cash and now needs help finding a replacement to mix his funds. So far I have been able to identify a handful of them. Do you know anything more about the ones I listed? Also, please respond if you know of any others that he could use.

Railgun- I heard yesterday that it is down but I think they use relayers to mix.

0xMonero- They launched 0xTIP last month and their community is growing fast. The problem with this one is that although it has the potential to replace Tornado Cash, it doesn't have the liquidity needed to mix large amounts of funds yet.

BUCC- I heard that v1 and v2 were exit scams and that v3 just launched and was one too. I don't know if this is true or not but the token is supposed to enable you to store and transfer BUCC privately on ETH.

These mixers are new to me, so I can't tell whenever they're trustworthy or not. You'd just have to check on the code to see for yourself (although if such forks are a direct copy of the original Tornado.Cash protocol, there shouldn't be any problem using it). It's a good thing we have other alternatives, or we would've been "toast" by now. This shows us that crypto/Blockchain tech is truly unstoppable thanks to its decentralized and open source design. I don't think the US government will hunt down these alternatives, but if it does, then people should be prepared to make another copy just in case. Hosting the frontend interface of the mixer protocols on IPFS or another decentralized network should render governments' efforts futile in the long run.

As much as I'm against money laundering and tax evasion, I hate it when governments take down people's ability to enjoy privacy and true financial freedom. At crypto won't be going anywhere soon. Who knows if the US and other mainstream governments give up on their efforts to try to destroy crypto/Blockchain tech? Just my thoughts Grin

Trezor and Wasabi Join Forces To Make Bitcoin More Private
The two projects said they would bring CoinJoin to hardware wallets next year.
"Trezor, the company behind one of the most popular crypto wallets, has teamed up with privacy project Wasabi to bring CoinJoin mixing to Bitcoin transactions on its hardware wallets."

I do not know how it works in your country, but delivery can be ordered in various ways, for example, by courier. The courier does not check your documents, but calls you on the phone and delivers your order to any place. Therefore, in the order you can write any data, a temporary SIM card for 1 month will cost no more than $ 10.
There are still delivery through postamat and other options

I haven't used any one of those you mentioned, so I don't know if there will be a better alternative to tornado cash, not yet. We all know how the world of crypto developed, it's a rapid phase, so sooner or later we will all gonna heard a new mixing services for ETH similar to tornado cash but this time it is "bullet proof", until the government cracks it down again. Just like in Bitcoin mixing services, it's a continues development and those mixers what to stay one step of the game. So the best thing to do right now is wait.

What you probably want is anonymity and not just privacy. Just avoid transparent blockchains such as Bitcoin or Ethereum and use Monero so you don't have to deal with third party mixers. These mixers and Coinjoins will continue to be haunted by authorities and it could be a matter of time before they're uncovered or unmasked.
