From what I understand no current programs or networks will run on any quantum pc or quantum network as the mathematics is different.

There are commercial quantum cryptography systems available but they need dedicated fibers.

Quantum cryptography on a non dedicated fiber needs a shit load of liquid helium to make the single photon detectors work. That won't be commercially available for a very long time.

Moore's law can be applied to anything in high-tech. I wouldn't say "very long".

Getting single photon detectors to work cheaply and efficiently at higher temperatures isn't so much in the realms of high-tech but rather still in the realms of science. Science can take a very long time.

Interesting, but we will not see too much about it for a few years.

the link does not go to a toshiba interview or a media outlet that scrutinies its sources..

the story seems to be from a blog style media source (http://caeconomics.wordpress.com/) where anyone can submit stories. (who is John Vandivier)

and the link in the story brings you too yet another blogger/journalist. (qz.com)

no actual references / interviews from toshiba themselves making a device. just a toshiba RESEARCH PAPER.

Toshiba has recently invented a consumer-grade quantum cryptography network.
Bitcoin also mentioned in the article.

What do you think about it ? Does it really exist ? If yes what consequences will it have on Bitcoin ?
