I have visited the United States many times, and I have never faced any sort of harassment from the authorities. On the other hand, I had quite a few bad experiences with the airport security in some of the third world nations, especially those in the South Asia. The media seems to be trying really had to tarnish Donald Trump, using every available opportunity.
I completely agree. Apparently against Trump began antipiar long before the election and this pursued certain goals. Nobody is going to stop today and do the dirty tricks of the personality of the President of the United States. In America, there is much more order than in most countries.

This article has nothing more than a crappy piece of journalism made to induce fear and hate for Trump's administration. There will be no handing over!
Such decision would be the end of Trum and would cause countrywide riots and protests. Also, what would obtaining a social media password allow them to do? A tourist would be able to change it 5 min after giving it up. If I were ask to give up my password I'd either say I don't have one, or don't remember my password, or I'd leave and spam them with formal complaints.

Its not the UK alone, i heard there is a new policy where one has to give over their social media account info before they will be given a US Visa nowadays so as to ascertain that they are not risks to the USA.

it's already happening of course, even to americans with government phones, but this looks like it might become policy. throw in having to disclose financial information and answer detailed ideological questions and that vacation to to america looks like more trouble than it's worth.

would you tolerate this or is this a deal breaker? i'd delete everything before going but i'd still be turning up with a massive collection of mp4s stolen from the film studios. they might not like that.

They have to know that they are your accounts, else you will give them 1-2 convenient accounts and that's all.
And all this is a big silly crap. Because whoever wants to hide their info, they will do that. It's not so difficult to have 1 FB and 1 twitter account where you are a nice guy and keep the other accounts away from their eyes (if you use VPN and such, of course).

This is more a hassle than usefulness, I doubt that this will ever happen.

I have heard that the US is losing money in the billions of dollars due to Trumps policy. Eventually it going to hurt its economy, many are worried about going and being denied entry into the USA and therefore are refusing to come altogether.

I'm not planning a trip to the US anyway, so this doesn't concern me, but I think they won't do it. It's a serious invasion of privacy and if they do it they'll lose in billion of USD (over 200 billion a year) the tourists are bringing to their country each year. Good luck, even Trump's pockets aren't that deep.

To me this situation is not particularly worried. First, I am not going to America, and secondly I think that the security of the country and the lives of its inhabitants is more important than the private life of the tourists. If you are going to visit we are obliged to accept the rules or not go.

That is happening for at least 3 year, and i have to admit that it is terrifying.
You would need to give up your privacy to get into US?
It really sucks, looks like US doesnt want to have people in their country, which havent been controlled in financial way.
I wonder what would happen if they find a tourist sho has access to hunders of bitcoin through his mobile phone.

Im almost sure that this money would have been seized without any kind of note or warrant, and the tourist couldmt do anything about it, because how would anyone proove that US officers have taken your bitcoins?

This is a very strict implementation. This will bring an uproar to the citizens of the state since if this kind of law will be implemented there will be many adjustments and complains that will occur. I know that if this thing will be implemented and many will complains because they forgot their password and many reasons the solution coming from the state is chip implants. Now I know that Illuminatis are moving and working to implement chip implants to control the world.
This is another step towards the creation of a database on all people in the world. Of course people will be unhappy and outraged, but they can easily make. Now in the world the government pays subsidies to farmers to the food was very cheap. What happens if the subsidy stops?

Leave no FUD unchallenged
I don't trust this news article. The Guardian is well known for dishing out fake news and twisting the facts. This "extreme vetting" procedure is applicable only for those "tourists" who are suspected to have links with radical organizations.

Would it help if it was sourced from the alt-right haven of breitbart?  Ugh, that shit is in my browser history now.  I feel dirty.

The US was already experiencing a tourism "Trump Slump" even before this, so I'm guessing his plan to make America great again doesn't involve any revenue from outside visitors.  I'm sure Mexico, Cuba and Canada will greatly appreciate picking up all the extra tourists you'll scare away.  Your loss is their gain.

Is this what they are calling America for Americans. I guess its goodbye America.

Who's "they"? I don't know where you got this quote from. A lot of American's don't believe this sentiment.

The issue is that when you want to attract tourism then you must try to give them an easy way to get into your country, with that kind of measures then there is a chance a small portion of people will just take a vacation elsewhere.

This sounds like nonsense.

If the US does this than all tourists to the US should quickly say "fuck you, we're going home". I guarantee you that if foreign toursim ceased in the US those policies would change.

Don't give in just because a Government asks you to. Stand up for you rights and your privacy. And if you're not sure if you can, watch the movie Snowden.
