Dear Mr. / Mrs. ThePiachu,

When I try to get some bitcoins for the "testnet" from Your site "https://tpfaucet.appspot.com/",
I get the error message:

 "API error 5 (urlfetch: DEADLINE_EXCEEDED)".

Additionally (or the reason for the error?) the captcha 'displays' :

"V1 SHUTDOWN ON 2018-03-31".

Thank you in advance for your help,

Sincerely, Yours,

Thomas

The TestNet Faucet had to undergo a server change. It has a new hot wallet address and a new IP address for the node.

Thank you everyone that have been donating TestNet coins to the Faucet. If you wish to continue to do so, please use the new address: n2eMqTT929pb1RDNuqEnxdaLau1rxy3efi .

Hey - I just wanted to say thank you for running the faucet.  We used it a LOT during testing for our project.

My random eWallet at http://tpfaucet.appspot.com appears once in a while, but quite often I get the following error:

API error 5 (urlfetch: DEADLINE_EXCEEDED)

On a few occasions, I'm able to send coins, but quite often I get the above error when I try to send.

Do you know of any other eWallets for testnet?

Hey - I just wanted to say thank you for running the faucet.  We used it a LOT during testing for our project.
I also LOVE the quote about TestNet coins on the site:

"TestNet coins are worthless, but useful. They are useful because they are worthless. If you will add value to them, they will be useless, therefore worthless."

Thanks again!

Fixed.

Thanks!

I was able to create a random account, send and receive.  However, I cannot use the account anymore.  When I try to go to that account now, it gives me this error:

API error 5 (urlfetch: DEADLINE_EXCEEDED)

Update:  The problem seems to be intermittent.  I refreshed the page and now I see the account.  But when I tried to send BTC, it gave me the error again.  The BTC was sent nevertheless, but now I cannot see my account as I get the above error again.

When I tried to get a eWallet at http://tpfaucet.appspot.com/ via Random account, Create and account or use an account with my email, I get an error message:

API error 5 (urlfetch: DEADLINE_EXCEEDED)

Is this related to your grant proposal at https://bitcoinfoundation.org/forum/index.php?/topic/60-grant-proposal-testnet-faucet-ewallet-and-node/?

Are there any other Testnet eWallets out there?

Fixed.

A lot of people were withdrawing from the wallet (or just one person withdrawing a lot), so the wallet.dat grew quite large. Had to purge the wallet and start off fresh.

I will get onto fixing it.

I can't think of many testing scenarios where people won't be actually running their own Bitcoin software. I posted a reply in your "can't get bitcoin-qt working" thread.

I'm indifferent to using testnet on my own machine or via an eWallet, but I still cannot do either.  Thanks for replying to my "Cannot synchronize with Bitcoin in testnet mode - No block source available" thread at https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/cannot-synchronize-with-bitcoin-in-testnet-mode-no-block-source-available-437907.  Your reply helped a little.  I posted a reply to your reply.

The services on that page have been down for a while: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4656854

I sent 1250 to the the faucet today as well, mined them while looking at pool software. I dont have much use for them

Well, it is some sort of tragedy of commons I assume. Then again, I can see who the culprit is. Their address is myPe2pzHhFrdmnmrmrQkGhDzqJVfanrEqd and here they are:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=168864.new

It is not much of a problem in the end - one can easily operate on fractions of coins as on whole coins.

I loaded up the faucet with 5000 testcoins yesterday and the faucet is empty again. Emptying it is as simple as submitting your address once and then just hitting refresh repeatedly.

Update: sent it 1000 more and the balance isn't updating after 9 blocks. Update 2: and now they're there...

It's on Amazon EC2, so it might be finicky under heavier loads. Just keep that in mind Wink.

Thank you very much. I'm connected and it seems to work great.

Okay, the node is set up to accept inbound connections:

There is, but as far as I remember I set it not to take incoming connections. I will look into changing that later and share the IP on the page.

Thank you. This could be very handy. The other thing I find lacking when testing on testnet is public IP addresses to connect to… I find it's tough to get testnet connections unless I happen to put a couple connect= lines in there. Is there a publicly accessible testnet node that this uses that I can connect to?

Since the good old Faucet is down, I decided to implement my own for the TestNet. It is available at:

http://tpfaucet.appspot.com/

I created the website because I saw a few people not knowing where to get their TestNet Bitcoins from. When I was learning how to use Bitcoins the old Faucet was a very useful tool to get some Bitcoins to toy around with. We need to keep such tools available for new developers.

Moreover, I also added a simple eWallet to the website. I haven't seen many TestNet eWallets around, so I thought it would be useful to some people.
