It may not have been scammed. What I was asking was whether you had sent the coins to an account on an online service.

Generally speaking, a lot of these services use a system whereby you don't have access to a specific address/key pair. They say "your deposit address is XYZ"... This doesnt mean the address is yours, or stores your coin. any money you deposit is then simply credited to your account balance (effectively a number in a database, no longer linked to your initial deposit). When it comes time to settle your account (aka you want to withdraw some or all of your available balance), they simply send the required amount from any address they own (ie. could be someone elses deposit) and adjust your balance to reflect this.

So while the coins you deposited may have been used to settle other users withdrawl requests, theoretically they can use other peoples deposits to settle the requests. (assuming the site isnt a scam and the owners arent stealing coins)

If you deposited 10 BTC, your account should reflect that fact... if it doesn't then it is either due to the change to this paymium thing and is a mistake, or you could have been scammed.

Paymium's latest reply, now included in https://softbyte.co.uk/_dwnload/paymium.txt
now finally admits they are connected with bitcoin-central.net. But it's looking like the missing wallet is hosted elsewhere and if HCP is right it is probably on a scam site and has been emptied.
Thanks to all who have responded. The prize for recovery is still 5 bitcoin but it's looking increasingly unlikely to be found.

paymium.com = bitcoin-central.net 100% correct

They wanted to bring together their Bitcoin market place (Bitcoin-central) and the company that publishes this service (Paymium SAS) under a unique brand: Paymium. The change was in June 2014. The customers BTC adress are dynamic and not usable after 7days

But they have nothing to do with bitcoin-central.com wich is a scam site

Thanks for the extra info.

I have never gambled on line with or without bitcoin, nor even used BTC to buy anything. I definitely didn't spend the coin. If the coin has been spent then it looks like I've been scammed. But if I've been scammed it is odd that they didn't move the coin immediately in September. Perhaps they were waiting for me to put more into the wallet.

I have a brief note that I wrote for myself when I made the payments into the missing wallet, along with some login information, and I think this must be the location of the wallet, though it wasn't the clearest of notes and I wasn't sure.
The web address that I noted down is bitcoin-central.net, and I also noted one of the addresses of the missing wallet :- 13J4Ly36hyVDyWT37fqJUm5vRCyiqengQ1.
I haven't found a way to contact bitcoin-central.net. Their site now has no contact info and no login page.  Whois.com shows an entry but the contact email address bounces back.

I googled bitcoin-central a few months ago and found a link between them and paymium.com. The login details that I had noted for bitcoin-central.net enabled me to log in to paymium.com, and it even showed me my bank details. However, paymium.com don't admit any connection to bitcoin-central.net or the possibly unrelated bitcoin-central.com, and I get the feeling they are not wanting to answer my questions properly. I have uploaded our correspondence to my own website as a plain text file, including a question (a repeat of a previous question) that I added just now.

It looks like the 17E1RFS address might be a "collection" address for some sort of web based service like an exchange or gambling website that attributes deposits sent to specific addresses to your account, and then uses those coins to fulfill other peoples withdrawl requests as required.

The 10 BTC sent to 17E1RFS has been spent in a chain of transactions over the last 5 months:

Thanks for the response.

On 2017-01-07  I sent a 3 payments from my MultiBit Classic wallet, each of about 0.0002 BTC, and one of these payments was to 17E1RFS13uBRraXFSPuQ1dA937d5HTyyEk. The purpose was to see if they appeared in a third wallet that I still have control over. They didn't.

I didn't send or receive any more payments after 2017-01-07, so I can't imagine how it shows something happening on the 12th.  It's strange also that it shows a payment of 10 BTC split into 9.4 and 0.6.  Beyond me.

I just tried to log into virwox using the name and email address I always use for this kind of thing and requested a new password, but it didn't recognise my email and name. Their website also didn't look at all familiar to me.

The movement of BTC to my lost account was 23 Sept 2016. And only several months later I realised the account was lost.

I looked in blockchain.info - and found my transactions, but there was no info about who is hosting the wallet.

One of the addresses is 17E1RFS13uBRraXFSPuQ1dA937d5HTyyEk. I don't know what the public address is.

Was the account from virwox? Walletexplorer shows virwox in the results for a search of that address. However it only shows it sending 0.6 BTC to virwox on 2017-01-12.

How long ago was "long ago"?  That might eliminate some.
Did you try blockchain.info?  They are one of the longest running ones so it is a possibility.  The problem is that they store the private keys on your computer too and do not keep backups, so even if it was them, they probably wouldn't be able to help.

If you have the public address or transaction ID someone might have some suggestions, but that is something of a long shot.

I have an online wallet Somewhere that contains bitcoin, but due to a computer crash and a separate backing up error I have lost the login details - it was long ago and I can't remember which website I opened the wallet with. If I knew the website I would be able to request my password.

I still have my MultiBit Classic account from where I sent the bitcoin to the lost wallet, so I am able to see the addresses that I sent to and the transaction IDs.

At https://www.walletexplorer.com/ it suggests that exchanges and services can be traced from addresses or transaction IDs. I tried using that site but I wasn't able to see any bitcoin wallet providers retrieved from my address. That site has a link to chainalysis saying that they offer a better service, but they don't reply to my messages.

Does anyone know of any way I can find which company hosts my wallet?

Thanks in advance
