Nothing to be alarmed about. People who trade with you regularly will almost always want a second way to get in touch with you. ICQ or SKype is generally faster than LBC or Paxful chat. Usually way more reliable as well. Your trade partners probably just want to get in touch with you the fastest way possible. I used to ignore their requests too until I realized staying in contact with them may be very profitable. I never had any issues with people trying to hack me or any foolishness like that.

Also, remember LBC and Paxful shuts down accounts all of the time. Lots of these guys are high risk traders and they know at some point they may lose contact with you, so ICQ is pretty much the standard.

I am long term Paxful user also and I haven't come across a situation when the buyer wants to use third party application for communication. So may I propose to be cautious because this sounds odd.

I wouldn't be worried much about getting hacked through ICQ as long as you don't accept files from him. I never used Paxful before but If they allow Livechat between users , I don't see why he would insist on using a third party software like ICQ so If paxful do have a live chat I would stay away from this trader . Another thing why you shouldn't use ICQ is that the other party will know your phone number so If you care about your privacy , you shouldn't use it. Use something like Skype instead.

So theres someone who I trade with on Paxful. He seems cool ... nice easy and smooth trade ... but he's persistent about getting my ICQ and communicating there. Im on paxful often and it's linked to my cell. Is there a reason why traders would insist on communicating through ICQ rather than just on the paxful platform? I'm literally always on Paxful since i'm a seller.

What safety hazards are there? On my macbook, the ICQ logo randomly pops up and disappears in the top right bar of my mac (status bar or whatever) .. is this normal?

Is it easy to get hacked through ICQ? Any feedback is appreciated. I only got the program because someone here was selling goods, and they put up their ICQ for communication.

edit: havn't gave my ICQ yet ...
I would assume that it would be a situation where they want to trade off the site, and try to get me to send BTC first without them providing payment ... shit like that
