Wow, thank you all for your interest and ideas! I will go through step by step:
There will also be free tournaments, because we think this might be particularly interesting for newcomers.
So there will be tournaments where you have to pay some bucks and then are able to participate?
Btw how popular are such platforms? I mean those trading tournaments, are they popular? I have never heared. Also I think it will be great if that's possible: Link your trading activity (for example binanfe, bittrex and etc) on your platform, trade in real life and also get those results in trading competition.
I don't know how other platforms are doing, but some of them died because they were not properly built and had some technical issues. So far the feedback for our platform is very good - so yeah: it is popular, apparently
@QuadsPoker great input, thanks a lot!
Fees
In my opinion you can charge a 10% fee but then at least 50 to 75% of the Total fees must flow back to the community by for example launching 'free roll' tournaments but with real prizes, a loyalty program, some kind of jackpot,....
We understand that you all think that a 10% fee might be high. But we should not forget that those fees are not pure profit. We have to further improve our platform, maintenance costs to cover, employees to pay etc. But to give back to the community, we implemented our referral system;
Referral
add a referral program. this is one of the most powerful marketing tools. Mouth to mouth. And I think by charging 10% fees you can easily add a referral program.
We have a referral system in place where the user can (at least) get 1% of every player that signs up trough their referral link and plays a tournament. This means that every tournament the registered user plays, the referrer get 1% of every buy-in. That's a 10% revenue share on every tournament played.
Multiple winners
As far as I understood only the winner of competition wins the total prize pool. I personally think to make it more attractive you should reward multiple players in a competition. For example if you have 10 players in a 2mBTC contest. Fees deducted gives a prize pool of 0.018BTC. I would reward in this way 50% (0.009BTC) to winner, 30% (0.0054BTC) for second and 20% (0.0036BTC) for third place
This is something we were thinking about as well. This is one of the reasons we are running a beta. We will simply ask the community what they would prefer.
@Kakmakr
That is what we need to do to not thinking about the market every day. Perhaps, we need to leave the market for a while to release our stress to see the bear market still on there. We need to do something to refresh our mind, and with playing games, I think we can get new experience, and we can also relax for a while.
@maydna put it very well I think. We did not come with TradeWars because we, or other traders are bored. We wanted to offer a platform where established traders can somehow create transparency about their skill & achievements and where both established traders and newcomers can simply figure out/adapt new strategies without investing huge amounts of money. At the same time they can have fun and exchange with like-minded. That's the vision we've got in our head.
But yeah, even if we attract only people who are bored, we created some kind of value I guess
