There are few security measures every trader should consider ;
1. Don't install or download anything from unknown sources.
2. Don't use your personal email address (which you have used in your bank, trading and wallets account) to register accounts in all site you came across.
3. Always activate 2FA in your trading, wallets and any other accounts where you will store your trading assets/coins.
4. Never use same password in every account.

Most importantly don't give access to your personal computer to anyone in your family or in friends circle. Having some good antivirus software with internet security is must. Also avoid using any public wifi in which many others are connected at the same time.

I always login on most of the trading sites on incognito and there i have enabled 2 factor authentication. No one every has access to my phone and the password can't be guessed by any system for now. I don't even save my passwords on my google account if i have done no one is ever aware of such a account. I use myetherwallet to store funds and tokens i have saved the utc on a usb so no one except me can ever access that.

If facing a pro hacker, than nothing could protect your trading activities, based on your luck I guess.
But, as long as you aware of something suspicious such as malware or phishing method, secure your password and not online all day, then you should be fine. Remember to keep your bitcoin offline in order to prevent any further access from hackers jjust in case.

Hi all,

In order to protect you against hacker/virus, do you use a vitual marchine ? A new computer (linux ?) ? or your "daily" computer ?
In general, what precautions do you take ?

Many thanks Wink

Most of the trading take place on internet so OS has very meagre role to play. Daily computer can be handy too for trading all you need to ensure is security of your accounts and credentials. Never ever fall for phising page, double check domains before entering logins (try to bookmark sites rather than following links from some webpage).
Moreover, use trusted exchanges if you doing altcoin trading and never leave coins in exchange. Always export them to self-hosted wallets after buying.

in general the best os to prevent you to get hacked by viruses and other malicious software should be LINUX.
but the problem is that OS is quite hard to use for users and only a few people can operate it,
many people using Microsoft because it's easy to use and not complicated compared to linux

i prefer to use Linux if you're good at it,
because trading is a very risky, you can lose your money at any time.
and other than that viruses and other malicious software are another thing that can losing your money too.
so,trading while using a pc that infected by viruses or malicious software doesn't that mean you're doubling your risk?
it would be the best for us to lessen the risk

Almost all the OSes also provide a good protection against viruses and hackers if used properly. You can download antivirus such as Avast. There are certain practices that can help you to stay away from virus such as keeping your autorun off, avoiding attaching too many usbs etc. You should always avoid visiting too many sites offering free things.
