the bot developers aren't only reselling. for example Gunbut that you mentioned here is selling his product and has lots of ads in different places including bitcointalk. but the reselling option is also available mainly because it helps "spread the word".
now the problem here is that a bot is not something that should be used by everyone! specially when they are new to trading itself. ignoring this fact a lot of them buy bots because they think it is magically going to make them profit. then failing to make any money and losing more that they even imagined they decide to sell their license. for that they exaggerate the capabilities of a bot and bring in even more newbies who think they have bought a magical tool that can make them rich.
after a short while we are left with a market filled with a lot of people trying to resell their license to make up small part of what they have lost so far.
Most of the time newbies would really think on that way which they would tend to buy trading bots who are for sale and believe that the bot would do the job and make them constant profits on daily basis which do really happen in our dreams.Wrong perceptions would really turn into a big mistake which causes for us to regret later on when we do find out the reality.Actually there are lots of free trading bots in the market which you can use but there are some which you would need to pay up.

Bot are only following what are being programmed to their system, and only what is program on them is the only thing they will follow if you are talking wbout their work or how they works.

Now if you are talking about selling the bot itself they sell it to resellers since someone may accept the product, comppanys has there own trading bot and they don't want some bot from just someone, because they are considering the security and this both with unknown source may imflamate their system with virus that can cause internal deterioration that can lead hackers to infiltrate them.

Hello bitcoin community,

I am curious as to why are trading bots choosing to solely rely on resellers instead of selling directly like many other companies? I am not sure if I am getting through what I mean. I just find it different, and I am interested to know from a marketing perspective why it makes most sense. Most B2C software companies don't do reselling, why trading bots do only reselling (eg gunbot)? What reasons might be there that render this a better option for trading bots at least but not for other products?
