He is scared of paypal and charges backs, and I'm scared of sending as a gift, or just straight BTC.  How do you guys handle trades like this?
Glad you didn't fall for it.
When doing private exchanges you may use a trusted network like http://bitcoin-otc.com/vieworderbook.php

Stay safe.

Wow, that would've sucked if you got burned for $6k

I suggest dealing with reputable members only for such a large transaction

Oracle24 and quartz92 are the same person and both have now been marked as scammers.

quartz92 was marked as a scammer but still wanted to sell me some hardware... I asked why he was marked as a scammer and never heard back... however, a couple minutes later, I got a PM from Oracle24 offering to sell the same hardware.  After days of emailing back and forth and him wanting to send him straight BTC or paypal gift, I got enough information to link Oracle24 and quartz92.

Know information on this person:

Known forum usernames:  Oracle24 and quartz92
Known ebay account they reference: klassic9955 - http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=klassic9955&ftab=AllFeedback
Known paypal addresses: [email protected]
Known email addresses: [email protected], "Jack Borcelt" <[email protected]>

Ebay recommends https://escrow.com/index.asp

Anyone used that before? Any others I should look at?

Yeah, use a trusted escrow or just don't do such a large sum to start off.  The forum is essentially anonymous and plenty of scams have happened.  Disputes are hard to resolve.  If you're a company, I might consider paypal if the seller would trust you as a company, but make sure you exchange real-world credentials.

Just using Ebay ratings is crazy.  How do you know if the person you are talking to did not steal that Ebay account.  I remember reading a few years ago how easy it was to fake Ebay ratings.

You should ask if the seller is on bitcoin OTC.  Are they on the web of trust?

If not find an escrow service or don't do such a big deal with him all at once; build a relationship.

Yep. Bring in a third party. Even if you have to pay them. 6k is a bit too much to lose for me anyways.

The hardest part would be agreeing on the said third party, especially if it's not professional.

I am new on this forum and I would like to buy what another new member on this forum, Oracle24, is selling.  However, it is a $6,000 deal we are talking about and neither of us really trust each other, which is smart I guess, we both want to be protected.

edit:  Ebay feedback links removed as it doesnt really matter, lol.

He wants me to Send BTC, or use paypal and send as a gift... I will be using my business credit card to fund this purchase. I dont have pictures yet, but he said he would get them to me this week.
