If you are really interested in trading, consider so many factors, Your country, currency. are you trading with Fiat or crypto.   You must go tru the terms and conditions of the exchange. but the best option is to check if you have any exchange platform in your country. since you are new, look for any medium startup like Bitmart, digitex futures, bitrue ,etc. to avoid getting burnt easily on the top exchanges.

In my experience, a good exchange platform must have the following factors :
1. The support team is enthusiastic when customers have problems.
2. Low trading fee
3. There are many trading pairs
4. Exchange rate between buying and selling is not too much difference
5. Supported by many real people and traders (not bots)
6. Confirm fast deposit and fast withdrawals
7. Low withdrawal fee is very important.

Traders have lot of opportunity to get much more income in this field they are very blessed and very most getting profitable persons so it will be long lasting for the future because the future of cryptocurrency are Brighter Than before that's why I am saying this and the platforms of cryptocurrency field will increasing lots much.

LocalBitcoin exchange is limited and doesn't have much coins to trade for or something incomplete to do in trading. That is only for converting fiat from Bitcoin. Why you did not choose those exchange reputable one, I know there an exchange that most likely traders want, I'm not a trader but I know which are exchanges good to trade for. To avoid problems near in the future, pick exchange as a reputed one.

For trader the exchange is not much important thing,because they might not move their funds too often but they need to pick a legit exchange if they are going to convert their fiat into BTC or viceversa.I will say LBC will be better to start with when someone begins since it is more trusted and available in all the countries.

3. Fees.  The fees should also be one of the things you should look on to before investing.  Many exchange especially the old one still retain they trading fees and this do affects the cost of trading.
4.Rate at coins marketcap.  I also look at the rate of exchange platforms on coins marketcap. This enabled me to be able to know the performance of those exchange over time.
Investments, is very risky and you should not go into it without adequate knowledge on how trading work and how to trade profitabily.

Most people will see about fees, send - received process/ wd ( rules transactions ) and support team exchanges. Actually there's no ideal because every exchanges have different method and policy about manage their system. But the most important is market condition, isn't good to enter right or I should wait?. When I  started doing crypto trading I chooced exchange that does not provide feature of stop loss,  and this is bring me to loss much money because I only possible to monitor the chart in 7 hours a day but crypto always move 24/7 without close.  So in my opinion first important  thing is crypto exchange that we use should be have feature of stop loss.

Just addition into these is that, you may check also feedbacks from the current users cause it could be some basis that certain exchanges is playing well or there is huge problem inside. Security also is very important. Just don't fool for phishing sites cause it definitely bring you down and nothing left in your wallet.

There is no big deal as to what exchange platform you choose as long as there is a big volume of trades in it. Exchange platforms varies in their environment but share the same principles with regards to their trades. I would suggest you choose platforms with high volumes on their coins and not just popularity alone.

I like to use the Huobi exchange more because the appeal of this exchange is huge and the community of this project works very well during this period. I haven't seen the most ideal exchange and I don't think it will exist.  The greatest concern I have about any exchange is security,  if the exchange is secure and transparent,  I will trade on any exchange with these value and measure!

Choose the exchange which would suit out your needs like if its compatible or easy for you to make fiat transactions to purchase up crypto.
You should look up on the current ranking or reputation on such exchange before tending out to make account and make any purchase.
There are lots of options which it do only depends on which you do prefer on.

Binance might be the best answer for that.
Since they USDT and almost every coin that have a large amount of trades within a day.
If you are looking for ERC20 tokens then some of them are also listed in the said trading exchange.

Trust issues? Never experienced one problem yet, although I have read some with complaints. They could be just planted to destroy them.

Your priority is to find an exchange that:

-Already established a good name in crypto exchange industry
-Not known for always having a bad issue

-Check all the fees associated in every transaction

You should start with Binance, as it doesn't require KYC if you want to withdraw up to 2 BTC per day, more than that you need to pass KYC. Moreover, it is one of the best & biggest exchange with in terms of high volume & high security. If your coin/token you gonna trade isn't listed on Binance then you have to look at their website or on CMC for the exchange that has listed the token you are holding and can trade only there or try forkdelta Dex exchange for ERC20 compatible token to trade.

You said "as an investor" so I guess you are someone planning to buy and hold for a long term, is that correct?
If my assumption is correct then maybe all you need to know is where the coins or tokens you plan is listed. If it's listed on multiple exchanges, then consider exchange fees and volume.

When choosing an exchange platform, you better do your own research with users review like smoothness or how friendly users it is, trading fees, withdrawal fees, hacking records and how they manage it or how fast they will pay those hack victims, how 2FA works (email, text message or google authenticator) and their reputation with the community. Also, ask your self first on which type of trader you are. Is it day trader, swing trader or long time holder? Try to discover your learning style and build your own or combine strategy in trading.

If you look deeply, they have different price right now and you will be saving a lot by looking for the lowest.

of course if you see to coinmarketcap, there are enough lists from the best exchange, some need verification KYC and some are not, small withdrawal fees and also there are some exchange that rumors says its all are BOTS

I am working with many exchange, because i have to, in my wallet there are more than 300 coins i got. I did bounty hunt from last 2 years and i had to work with many of them. For me the best exchange is Bittrex and the Bitforex. After these 2 i would say LA Token, which is quite new but very effective. Also i am happy with Coinbene, GateCoin and Kucoin. I would never recommend with work HitBTC, they have stupid rules and i got $150 stuck in there.. The coin trades should be 10s / 100s / 1000s in HitBTC and you can't use the remain coins. So don't go with them please..

I do trading and binance for me is ideal because they have a potential coin that continues to grow in the market, the fee is small, the sales volume is very good, a good level of security and can guarantee users to trade comfortably

One good criteria is the effectiveness of the trade.  Also how many traders are on the platform and how is the history of trading on the exchange platform

i think the most ideal trading platform is binance.
its one of the best strong exchange and technically well build and security is also high.
and kucoin,bitforex these two are also good trading platform

theres a lot depends on your trading style or personal preference, for me i like binance, kucoin, hotbit since im just a spot trader, check on CMC the biggest volume of coin and depending also on your location.
