If I get a free "alt coin" is it possible to trade it for Bitcoins at an exchange?  For example If I send coins to an exchange can  I trade them for a different coin?
Yes.

It is not a bad question.  I answered your question.  Yes, there are exchanges where you can trade between BTC and the various alt coins.  You can send them any kind of coin and then trade it at the market price for any other kind of coin.  I thought that was your question.  Did you have another question?
